I just watched Ghost in the Shell again, for the 1st time. The take on my favorite anime franchise was a different, but forgivable one. I guess my biggest problem was knowing how it would end, but stuck waiting to see just how right I was. Giving Motoko a family, a mother to be precise, wasn't bad. It was just hard to let go of the knowledge of the series I already possessed. This story does fit in the canon as one of the many re-tellings of the beginning of section 9. I recommend watching Arise 1-4 and then Ghost in the Shell the new movie. As with all of Mamoru Oshii's work, you must be willing to open your mind to believe the disbelief to understand the possibilities of this reality. In the end, I found myself pleased with the finished product. The Major is proven to be of Asian origin. And that is satisfying. I recommend this only to those willing to open their minds to a different yet familiar story and you won't be disappointed. Cheers.

I really enjoyed projecting this 3D disc. It's more like a reboot than a adaptation of the anime but I thought it played really well as a lead in to the Stand Alone Complex series. There are some very nice visuals with the sense of depth being the main feature of the 3D FX. Several of the anime's key action sequences are very effectively recreated in 'live action'. Overall this is a good buy for demo quality and replay-ability.

I wanted to see this movie back when it was in theaters, but I couldn't go. So I was able to purchase the Blu-Ray and it's amazing! + the steelbook is great for collectors.
