God Save the Queen: A Punk Rock Anthology [DVD] [2005]

Nineteen music videos, live concert clips, and documentary excerpts featuring a like number of well-known punk bands are collected on this DVD release from Music Video Distributors. God Save the Queen: A Punk Rock Anthology is somewhat haphazardly programmed from a variety of sources without offering any information as to where the individual performances came from (though opening credits for two of the films are still visible on the clips from U.K. Subs and the Exploited, eliminating the guesswork on those tracks). Most of the songs are presented in the full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and all the audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo. The songs are all in English, with no subtitles or language options. This no-frills disc includes no bonus materials, unless you count a short interview with former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone; fans on old-school punk might have some fun with this, but overall the quality of the footage and the selection of tunes is more than a bit disappointing.
