A devoutly religious college freshman must debate the existence of God with his skeptical philosophy professor in order to earn a passing grade in this faith-based comedy-drama featuring Kevin Sorbo and David A.R. White. Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper) is a Christian who never thought his faith would get in the way of his higher education. As a result, he is deeply shaken when, on the first day of his Philosophy class, Professor Radisson (Sorbo) begins the semester by demanding that each of his students deny the existence of God in order to earn a passing grade. Although Josh tries his best to graciously refuse, Professor Radisson informs him that in order to continue in the class, the disagreeable student must make an air-tight argument for the defense. Not only that, but the semester will culminate in a debate between teacher and student on the subject. Should the class still remain unconvinced of God's existence, Josh will fail, sending his entire academic future up in flames. Duck Dynasty's Willie and Korie Robertson have cameos.~Jason Buchanan
One of the best Christian films that I have viewed to date. Truth told in a way that can relate to all audiences. This film encourages one to search out the truth which for a Christ follower is the Bible. Here is a question for the ages; "What is your source for the absolute truth?"
The plot: "A devout student must prove the existence of God or he will fail his college philosophy course." It's a refreshing change to have a series of religious mainstream movies released over the past year. Was surprised to hear that Kevin Sobro was in the lead role for this movie. This movie is well put together and worth viewing, whether or not you are a Christian.
Video is very good and has a 1.78 aspect ratio, so fits HD screens well. Sound is decent, but could be better for a Blu-ray release (is only Dolby Digital 5.1, not HD). However, the multiple contemporary Christian tracks come through well, and there are a couple of bonus music videos in the extras. If you didn't catch it in the movies, it is well worth purchasing and watching.
I saw this movie in the theater 2x and cried EVERY time, watched the dvd the day I got it and cried again!!! This is my favorite movie of 2014! The actors do a very good job, the cinematography is very smooth, the plot draws you into the movie, being a amateur video producer I've been picking a part movies for years now that in almost every movie I can tell the ending....God's Not Dead is one of the very few movies I did not expect the ending at ALL! :D
The only things I didn't like about it was when it arrived the DVD case was cracked (the disc was fine), and there were no bloopers or commentary...just a personal liking to any DVD I buy. The behind the scenes are really cool and so is the special feats. I think they should make a sequel!!!!
I would recommend this to a friend
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I had to see this one because I saw Part 2 first!
I didn't get a chance to see this one when it first came out. I was told it is very good. When I saw God is Not Dead 2 I was so impressed at how much I was encouraged as believer I simply had to see Part 1 for myself and I found it also to be very encouraging!
If Anyone is questioning if God is real maybe watch this movie. The main character had Lots of good points. It had a good cast and was fun to watch. Ive seen the second one now and it was as Good as this one. Totally recommend seeing both movies!...
