One big selling point is you don’t need a 5th wire to supply power as it has a battery in it. Yes in know the naysayers will say you need to replace it. But it’s much cheaper that hiring someone to install the power. There is a bit of a learning curve but that also depends on the person. Has all the smart features you need to get up and running.

As we drive to second home, we turn AC to cool home that is perfect when we arrive. We we leave our main home, we have a Nest thermostat at that home as well, adjusting to “Away” and back when returning home. Love that it lights up when you pass (and can be turned off). Too hot or cold during the night? Just reach over and adjust temperature. Love this Nest thermostat!

|Posted .Easly installed in less than 15minutes. Connected right up with Google mini. Took till next day to connect to Alexa, but finally it did. Does exactly what I wanted it to do. I’m extremely pleased with this Nest Thermostat.

Quality1 out of 5Value1 out of 5Ease of Use1 out of 53 months and it's horrible, this coming from a long time Nest user. I don't know, maybe Google messed it up. First off, it's difficult to see the actual room temp. But when you can, it doesn't turn on. Room temp is 75, target temp is 74, and nothing goes on. Talked with support, had me restart it, pull it off the wall and reboot it. It wouldn't turn on at the target temp of 74. Dialed it down to 72, it turned on, put it back to 74 and would say it's going to take an hour to get to 74 - after it wasn't on a few second ago! Then 3 minutes later it would say room temp is 71. Clearly a not so smart - smart thermostat.

Q: QuestionWhat is the lowest temperature that this unit will function at? For example, if I have it in a barn and only heat the barn when I plan to work in it, will it remotely turn the heat on if the temperature in the barn is 10 - 20 degrees?

- A:Answer This should work since you have the ability to use your app to keep the system off. You would just turn the system on with your app to a designated temp & it will show you how many hours it would take to heat to that temp.

Q: QuestionIs the readout supposed to change the colors of the temperature displayed, when the A/C or heat is running? Is there a way to tell if the furnace or a/c is running at the moment by looking at the dial?

- A:Answer This Product is currently set in cool, there are a few settings you can change between. If you press the screen it should show you the options to "Heat" "Cool" "Eco" "Fan" "Heat/Cool". Looks like you are in the cool setting. press the dial and switch it to heat cool and you should be able to set it to keep it between two temps.

- A:Answer The "E" is the economy version. Mostly just material differences and no touch screen. Same app, basic functionality. You can set heat/cool within parameters you set. You can also set the thermostat to Away mode that will drop to whatever preset temperature range you would like. With remote monitoring from the app, you can see what the local temperature in the house is, and change it from wherever you get Internet access for the app.

- A:Answer Yes. It works just like a normal thermostat in that regard. Set your temp and it will turn the heat or a/c on or off as needed.

Q: QuestionI know this works with Alexa, but I want to know how well it works with her. Can I lay in my bed and have her change my temp in the livingroom? Any other tips for using her to her full potential with the nest?

- A:Answer Yep, you can do exactly that. Once you set it up, you can tell Alexa to change the thermostat to a specific temperature. I will say that it can be a bit nitpicky in terms of how you phrase the request, but that is pretty normal for most Alexa integrations.

Q: QuestionIf you set the temperature at 70 F, at what temp will the thermostat turn the furnace on when the temperature drops in the home. ( example 1 degree lower, 1 1/2 degree lower) thanks.
