Forget Price, Best 7" Tablet on the Market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's no denying this is a great device for a low price, but I'd put the Nexus 7 (2013) head-to-head with any 7" tablet - including the iPad mini. The hardware is fantastic and wonderfully designed & built. The Nexus 7 (2013) is miles ahead of it's predecessor in every way. The large resolution and high pixel density makes for a beautiful viewing experience, and the speakers are great (the surround sound surprisingly sounds great)! You're running the latest, greatest Android build with a growing number of well designed apps for tablets. I bought my mom a Nexus 7 last year. Since that time she's purchased the new model and sold her laptop. This device can be used by anyone!

Sharp and fast!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not only is this a great tablet, they have upgraded (online) it from the 4.3 that it came with to 4.4.4. Talk about standing behind your products; you won't get that with the off brands. Don't ever buy a bargain brand...I bought two and they are useless, and always are getting stuck. It was worth the money to avoid all the frustration of an inferior product.

Great Little Tablet!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for College. I found all my books for my classes online in eBook form, so I figured I would find a tablet to put them on, that way I don't have to lug around a bunch of textbooks. I also wanted a screen that had a full HD display (at least 1080p), in case I want to watch High Definition movies on it. I was debating between a large (10 inch) or small (7 inch) tablet. And I wanted something running Android software (or at least nothing Apple related). Also I only had a budget of about $200. This thing fit the bill. I read mostly good reviews for it, so I bought it at my local Best Buy. It is a nice looking tablet, and it met all of my expectations. The display is great. The colors and display are great (1900x1200, even more pixels than 1080p). If you have an android phone, it operates similarly to that. Any app that it doesn't come with, you can find easily on Google Play for free (like a music player or file manager). I was afraid it might be too small, but so far I use it in my classes as you would use a textbook, and it has never been a problem for me. I also watch movies on it, surf the internet, and check email and stuff. I haven't used it to type documents, but I tested the spreadsheet and Word apps, and they work well. Overall, I am in love with this tablet. The only drawback that I can possibly think of is that it doesn't come with any expandable memory options, like a MicroSD card port. I got the 16GB version, and it has not been a problem for me though. I don't mind it at all. If I want to put something from my computer onto the tablet (or vice versa), I just use the USB cable. Simple. Also, although I was reticent to use cloud storage because of the need to always be near an internet connection, I have been using Google Drive and OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) more often recently, and sometimes those things are easier than storing stuff on actual devices. Really this thing is great. I am not upset that it isn't as large as the 10 inch tablets. It has grown on me. I think now I actually prefer the smaller size. It's easier to hold when reading, or watching movies while holding it. If you have the money, and you want a great little tablet, don't wait. Go get this thing. It will make you happy.

Best 7" Tablet on the Market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 2013 Nexus 7 is a great choice (easily the best choice as of 08/23/2013) for anyone looking to buy a 7" tablet. The screen quality is the first thing that blew me away about this tablet--it is a stunning display. It has a full HD display packed into the fairly small 7" screen. This thing has the same pixel count that my 40" TV has: that's insane. The color accuracy, while not perfect, is much better than other Android tablets currently on the market. This new model is slightly thinner and taller than the first generation, which I wasn't sure I'd like, especially switching from a 10" tablet, down to a 7". I was completely wrong; the width is perfect for holding in one hand, making long reading sessions a breeze. I don't enjoy typing on a tablet screen, no matter the size or form factor, but I use a bluetooth keyboard with this tablet and that suits my needs perfectly. I don't currently use a proper word processor, so I can't speak to it's viability as a desktop replacement in that respect, but it works great for email and taking notes during meetings. Some of the updates that came along with the new version of Android really help this tablet shine. I love the new look and feel (I transitioned from a tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich, so it was a big leap), and, most importantly, the speed. This is the first device I've owned that has access to Google Now and I have to say I'm a pretty big fan of it. It's not anything revolutionary, but it's pretty convenient to get real-time information that you are interested in without having to search for it. The only negatives I've run into are pretty nit-picky. At launch, there were no accessories for this device. It took about a month for some half-decent cases and screen protectors to start trickling through. I have both a case and screen protector for my Nexus now, but both are of less-than-stellar quality; I'm not saying they're bad, but I would have preferred to pay more for accessories with a higher build quality. I can't blame the makers of the tablet for that issue, though. What I can blame Asus and Google for is the lack of connections. I'm all about simplicity, but, out of the box, the Nexus 7 has very limited options for connectivity; however, Google released the Chromecast along with this tablet and that takes care of nearly all of these issues. I would highly recommend purchasing a Chromecast along with this device--it will provide a lot of increased functionality and ease-of-use. Overall, this is the best 7" tablet on the market right now. It's comfortable, fast, and cheap and I can't think of a good reason to buy any other Android tablet right now. Disclaimer: I do not use Apple products, I am not part of Apple's ecosystem, and I will not compare this to an Apple product, because there are very few similarities.

Best tablet at this price.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over all the Nexus 7 is the best tablet at this price point. I picked up my 16 GB WiFi Nexus 7 for $199 on sale at Best Buy which put it in the same price range as many of the "bargain" tablets on the market. Despite the bargain price, the Nexus 7 feels very solid in your hand. This is not true of many of the comparable "cheap" tablets, some of which feel as if you could easily snap them half. Despite being sturdy, the Nexus 7 is still light enough to allow several hours of use without feeling too heavy in your hand. In addition to the sturdy build and great price, the Nexus 7 has reasonably good screen resolution. While certainly not as good as the iPad Mini, it is non the less very good quality for most uses, especially when you consider it is $100 less than the Mini. The battery life on the Nexus 7 is decent. I typically get 8-9 hours of use on a full charge, with typical usage being e-mail, watching movies, Kindle reader and some games. The front and rear facing cameras are good and have worked without problem. I have used the rear camera for some short videos with good results, and the front camera has worked very well for Skype. Finally, one of my favorite features of the Nexus 7 is the full Google Play store, which is not available on competitors such as the Kindle Fire HDX and others. In addition to the full Play store, the Nexus does NOT include the proprietary interfaces and bloatware included on many of the competing models. In my experience, the proprietary interfaces tend to cause more problems than they solve, and often slow the operation of the tablets. In summary, if you want a bargain priced tablet I would recommend the Nexus 7. It is a great functioning, solid, full featured tablet that DOESN'T include clunky proprietary interfaces or bloatware.

Do not buy any other 7 in tablet.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing tablet. I had the first nexus 7 and this is drastically different even though it may not look it. There is no point at looking at another small factor tablet. The screen is absolutely amazing (almost as good as nexus 10 2560X1600). 1080p on this 7 inch screen is over 300 ppi beating the retina (which isnt even a real screen tech just a resolution). It very clear, reading books and magazines is great experience, and colors are very bright and crisp. Runs very smooth, I did not even root it yet and still can not get it to freeze. I did not try the camera on it (never saw the point on a tablet). Also if you have the old nexus, even though the new one has same screen size it is noticeably smaller because they shrunk the bezels and it fits in one hand easily and very portable. To me perfect tablet size. Plus stock android is the best experience you can ever have on a tablet. Touch wiz (whats on Samsung devices) has gotten extremely bloated, and hard/physical buttons dont belong on a tablet (not even a phone). The onscreen nav bar is much better. Wireless is fast, I get great reception around the house, Again tablet is very fast, handles every game I play also thanks to androids open GL 2.0 introduced in 4.3. So even if you have the OG nexus 7 I highly recommend the new one. Also got one for my girlfirend (her first android device) she loves it reads off it all the time, and says its easy to use (coming from never using android). The battery life is great, I get 2 days of use out of it (turning it off when not using it). Battery really improved over OG nexus 7.

Superb Table
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google Nexus 7 does everything I want it to do! Great battery life, above average screen resolution, and it is pretty quick. I also like the fact that you get the latest Android releases with a Google product.

Q: QuestionZooming in then resizing pageI'm able to pinch to zoom and enlarge the print however im unable to double tap so that the new page resizes to fit all the new text Is this a nexus 7 2013 or kit kat issue? Was able to do this on my acer with ICS. This is a deal breaker for me!
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I think this is a kit Kat issue. I have multiple devices (both Nexus and skinned Android) that have the latest OS and they all don't do the text resize thing anymore (which I thought was an awesome feature btw). It could also be an issue with the latest ver of Chrome.

Q: QuestionHow can I get rid of all the pop-ups on my Nexus 7?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer It depends on the type of pop ups you're getting. If it's from within the browser, then it's just an ad. Ignore them or stay away from sites that have too many of them. If you're talking about notification pop ups, then it's because an app is a little too overzealous with ads. Go to the notification shade and long press on the offending notification until it says app info. Tap on app info and it will take you to the app settings page. You can uninstall the app so it no longer sends those annoying notifications.

Asked by Chris.
- A:Answer Verizon charges 10 a month for tablet on the account, however if you didn't buy one through them, you have to get one of the portable WiFi hubs and that costs a little more. Their insurance is 10 a month if you buy a Nexxus through them.

Q: Questionaccess to video and photosHow can I access videos and photo on Tablet? Can I hock it to another PC and see all the objects saved on Tablet like Ipod?
Asked by Misty.
- A:Answer If you attach the tablet to the computer using the charging cable it will install the drivers onto your computer then you can just go to the computer files folder and look at the nexus 7 by clicking on it. You will see the DCIM folder inside it is another folder called camera you can click on it to see your photos. From there just copy them onto the computer and you are done. Depending on your device you may also be able to charge it from the computer while you are moving or copying photos. Note that if you move the images off of the tablet they will no longer be on it.
