Forget Price, Best 7" Tablet on the Market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's no denying this is a great device for a low price, but I'd put the Nexus 7 (2013) head-to-head with any 7" tablet - including the iPad mini. The hardware is fantastic and wonderfully designed & built. The Nexus 7 (2013) is miles ahead of it's predecessor in every way. The large resolution and high pixel density makes for a beautiful viewing experience, and the speakers are great (the surround sound surprisingly sounds great)! You're running the latest, greatest Android build with a growing number of well designed apps for tablets. I bought my mom a Nexus 7 last year. Since that time she's purchased the new model and sold her laptop. This device can be used by anyone!

Sharp and fast!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not only is this a great tablet, they have upgraded (online) it from the 4.3 that it came with to 4.4.4. Talk about standing behind your products; you won't get that with the off brands. Don't ever buy a bargain brand...I bought two and they are useless, and always are getting stuck. It was worth the money to avoid all the frustration of an inferior product.

Great Little Tablet!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for College. I found all my books for my classes online in eBook form, so I figured I would find a tablet to put them on, that way I don't have to lug around a bunch of textbooks. I also wanted a screen that had a full HD display (at least 1080p), in case I want to watch High Definition movies on it. I was debating between a large (10 inch) or small (7 inch) tablet. And I wanted something running Android software (or at least nothing Apple related). Also I only had a budget of about $200. This thing fit the bill. I read mostly good reviews for it, so I bought it at my local Best Buy. It is a nice looking tablet, and it met all of my expectations. The display is great. The colors and display are great (1900x1200, even more pixels than 1080p). If you have an android phone, it operates similarly to that. Any app that it doesn't come with, you can find easily on Google Play for free (like a music player or file manager). I was afraid it might be too small, but so far I use it in my classes as you would use a textbook, and it has never been a problem for me. I also watch movies on it, surf the internet, and check email and stuff. I haven't used it to type documents, but I tested the spreadsheet and Word apps, and they work well. Overall, I am in love with this tablet. The only drawback that I can possibly think of is that it doesn't come with any expandable memory options, like a MicroSD card port. I got the 16GB version, and it has not been a problem for me though. I don't mind it at all. If I want to put something from my computer onto the tablet (or vice versa), I just use the USB cable. Simple. Also, although I was reticent to use cloud storage because of the need to always be near an internet connection, I have been using Google Drive and OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) more often recently, and sometimes those things are easier than storing stuff on actual devices. Really this thing is great. I am not upset that it isn't as large as the 10 inch tablets. It has grown on me. I think now I actually prefer the smaller size. It's easier to hold when reading, or watching movies while holding it. If you have the money, and you want a great little tablet, don't wait. Go get this thing. It will make you happy.

Great tablet for anyone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my sister and her 2 year old child since they'll be on a long flight back home for the holidays. I also purchased a case (from a different site) with a built in screen protector, hard plastic shell, and a think rubber skin for protection since it will be used by a small child. Since it comes with Android 4.3 I was able to set up different user profiles, 1 for my sister and 1 for the kid (it was really easy to do). I set it up with my sisters email account and seeing as she has an android phone, all her apps were automatically downloaded onto the device. I also downloaded a few kid games to keep her kid entertained. With the profile i was able to restrict access to EVERYTHING except for the few kid games under the kid profile. That way she couldn't ruin or delete anything since there is a password on the other account. The screen is amazingly bright and clear. The audio is also pretty good considering the size of the device. I have the original Nexus 7 and there is a noticeable speed improvement over the old Tegra3. While not the newest Snapdragon 800 chipset, i won't be complaining seeing as the price is so good. I bought it at $229 for the 16GB but now with the holidays around you can find the same model for $199.

Best tablet for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me preface this by saying that I have personally tested almost every single tablet on sale at Best Buy to a large degree. Samsung, Apple, Kindle, ive tried them all. The main issue I have had with most of these tablets (save for Apple as they run a relatively clean install of the Operating System) is the fact that almost every single one of them has bloatware. What is bloatware, you ask? Bloatware is the extra applications that the tablet manufacturer decides they want to include with their device. This ranges from custom User interfaces (the reason why even though the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 and the Kindle Fire HD look COMPLETELY different, yet they are both running essentially the same version of android), to useless applications you never use and can NOT delete off of the device no matter what you do. This bloatware takes up valuable storage, and also slows down the device. This is where the Nexus 7 shines. Nexus 7 comes with a stock copy of Android 4.3, meaning it is as fast and fluid as it gets. Loading apps, switching between apps, loading webpages, even powering the device on and off all benefit greatly from this clean install of the OS. The other main love I have for this device is the resolution of the screen. At 1920x1080 with a high pixel density, it is one of the sharpest images you will get on a tablet, even compared to some of the bigger players such as the iPad with Retina Display. Overall, you can't go wrong with this tablet, though I do wish expandable memory was an option, then it would have been my dream tablet.

Best 7" Tablet on the Market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 2013 Nexus 7 is a great choice (easily the best choice as of 08/23/2013) for anyone looking to buy a 7" tablet. The screen quality is the first thing that blew me away about this tablet--it is a stunning display. It has a full HD display packed into the fairly small 7" screen. This thing has the same pixel count that my 40" TV has: that's insane. The color accuracy, while not perfect, is much better than other Android tablets currently on the market. This new model is slightly thinner and taller than the first generation, which I wasn't sure I'd like, especially switching from a 10" tablet, down to a 7". I was completely wrong; the width is perfect for holding in one hand, making long reading sessions a breeze. I don't enjoy typing on a tablet screen, no matter the size or form factor, but I use a bluetooth keyboard with this tablet and that suits my needs perfectly. I don't currently use a proper word processor, so I can't speak to it's viability as a desktop replacement in that respect, but it works great for email and taking notes during meetings. Some of the updates that came along with the new version of Android really help this tablet shine. I love the new look and feel (I transitioned from a tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich, so it was a big leap), and, most importantly, the speed. This is the first device I've owned that has access to Google Now and I have to say I'm a pretty big fan of it. It's not anything revolutionary, but it's pretty convenient to get real-time information that you are interested in without having to search for it. The only negatives I've run into are pretty nit-picky. At launch, there were no accessories for this device. It took about a month for some half-decent cases and screen protectors to start trickling through. I have both a case and screen protector for my Nexus now, but both are of less-than-stellar quality; I'm not saying they're bad, but I would have preferred to pay more for accessories with a higher build quality. I can't blame the makers of the tablet for that issue, though. What I can blame Asus and Google for is the lack of connections. I'm all about simplicity, but, out of the box, the Nexus 7 has very limited options for connectivity; however, Google released the Chromecast along with this tablet and that takes care of nearly all of these issues. I would highly recommend purchasing a Chromecast along with this device--it will provide a lot of increased functionality and ease-of-use. Overall, this is the best 7" tablet on the market right now. It's comfortable, fast, and cheap and I can't think of a good reason to buy any other Android tablet right now. Disclaimer: I do not use Apple products, I am not part of Apple's ecosystem, and I will not compare this to an Apple product, because there are very few similarities.

Sets a new standard for 7-inch tablets
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted an iPad Mini, but did not like the low screen resolution combined with the high price. And though I love iOS, this geek needed an Android device to stay relevant. The build quality is not that of iPad Mini, but fits better in hand and pants. The battery life is decent, though I was disappointed the battery smaller than the previous generation. This was probably done to make the device thinner. A few cool Nexus features, though useless to me: wireless charging and NFC. The best feature of the device is the amazingly high-resolution screen. The 1200 lines of resolution beat out 1080p TVs ten times the size. And this is all for $229 base price. At first I was impressed, thinking too good to be true. As I feared, the limitations of the device are starting to show. For starters, most of the apps are just phone apps blown up to a tablet screen. This creates blurry, low-quality images. Apple tablets are not like this. Secondly, the lack of a home button made unlocking a pain for me. However, I was able to find a smart cover that automatically unlocks the screen - no easy task compared to the plethora of accessory selection for Apple products. Micro USB is nowhere near as easy to use as Lightning. The plug only works one way, and is hard to plug in. You can forget about plugging this in to charge while driving, lest you risk veering into oncoming traffic. This tablet has real speakers, on both sides of the device in landscape - perfect for watching movies. Apple devices have their "speakers" both on one of the small sides, which is basically mono in most cases. Lastly, 16GB is simply too small for a device that can do so much. Google had an opportunity to make 32GB the default; the gold standard by which other 7-inch tablets are judged. I can't imagine an extra 16GB or the addition of an SD card slot would have been much. I'm holding this more against myself than Google, though, as I was given the chance to upgrade to 32GB for only $40. But you don't realize how much you need it until you need it. To conclude, this tablet is perfect for those wanting a 7-inch tablet and do not require iOS. I feel overall, the product is actually better than $329 iPad Mini. I have even watched countless video reviews of Nexus holding its own against full-size iPads in tests. For Apple to compete, it has to release a retina iPad Mini soon.

Q: QuestionZooming in then resizing pageI'm able to pinch to zoom and enlarge the print however im unable to double tap so that the new page resizes to fit all the new text Is this a nexus 7 2013 or kit kat issue? Was able to do this on my acer with ICS. This is a deal breaker for me!
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I think this is a kit Kat issue. I have multiple devices (both Nexus and skinned Android) that have the latest OS and they all don't do the text resize thing anymore (which I thought was an awesome feature btw). It could also be an issue with the latest ver of Chrome.

Q: QuestionHow can I get rid of all the pop-ups on my Nexus 7?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer It depends on the type of pop ups you're getting. If it's from within the browser, then it's just an ad. Ignore them or stay away from sites that have too many of them. If you're talking about notification pop ups, then it's because an app is a little too overzealous with ads. Go to the notification shade and long press on the offending notification until it says app info. Tap on app info and it will take you to the app settings page. You can uninstall the app so it no longer sends those annoying notifications.

Asked by Chris.
- A:Answer Verizon charges 10 a month for tablet on the account, however if you didn't buy one through them, you have to get one of the portable WiFi hubs and that costs a little more. Their insurance is 10 a month if you buy a Nexxus through them.

Q: Questionaccess to video and photosHow can I access videos and photo on Tablet? Can I hock it to another PC and see all the objects saved on Tablet like Ipod?
Asked by Misty.
- A:Answer If you attach the tablet to the computer using the charging cable it will install the drivers onto your computer then you can just go to the computer files folder and look at the nexus 7 by clicking on it. You will see the DCIM folder inside it is another folder called camera you can click on it to see your photos. From there just copy them onto the computer and you are done. Depending on your device you may also be able to charge it from the computer while you are moving or copying photos. Note that if you move the images off of the tablet they will no longer be on it.
