The battery life on a GoPro is good but having a backup is not a bad idea.

The battery works well and it is always good to have a spare. Be careful to check and make sure you get the battery for the camera you have. The sales associate said the same battery worked in both the Hero3 and the Hero4, but this battery did not work in my new Hero4. No problem since we have a 3 as well, just check before you buy,
