For over thirty years my wife slept next to me and we depended on each other for medical emergencies. A couple of years ago I woke up one morning with a severe case of Vertigo. Every time I tried to get out of bed the room spun around and I became violently nauseous. I was going nowhere without help. My wife got me into the car and took me to the emergency room and it turned out not to be serious. I was fine that same afternoon. A year or so later she suddenly died. Alone I worried what would happen if there was another bout of vertigo or worse. Laying in bed, not able to reach the phone to call for help, falling in the shower or yard caused constant worry. I became aware of the Lively unit through advertising in the AARP magazine. Since getting my unit it has relieved that constant worry about living alone and having a medical emergency. The unit comes with a belt clip and lanyard so it is easy to constantly have it with me. The button on the Lively device is just hard enough to press that false alarms are avoided. I have never used the device in an emergency. I have pressed the button to test the device. It is answered by a calm, reassuring, person who wants to know to nature of the emergency. The Lively is not just for medical emergencies. Its use is also encouraged when walking alone at night, back to my car, in a deserted parking lot or any other situation where my safety may be compromised. The Lively representative can listen in until I am safe again. Yes, I also have a smartphone with the Greatcall app installed, but if I am unconscious there is no way for a passerby to unlock it. With the lively, anyone pressing the button can get help for me. In a one word description, the Lively is security!

This little unit does a lot for its size. If you are a senior or one who has health issues the unit is very simple to operate. A single push of the flashing button connects you to a central monitoring service where you can hold a conversation. The audio is reasonably clear given its size. If you are in an emergency situation, holding the button longer makes a 911 call. The unit can be use by anyone needing some sort of security. The fact that two way communication is available, in security situations, the center knows where you are exactly. The unit has a built in GPS and transmits your location on each push of the button. An added feature is the ability to add those individuals, other than the center, to whom you would like to track your location. An application for Apple or Android cellphones is available and receives your transmissions as long as your unit is on. Those tracking you just has to open the application and synch. it to the network. You can choose if you want them to receive a map or not when you enter their information in the application. Sons and daughters can easily determine your location at any time by opening the app. and synch. it. The monthly cost is reasonably priced for the service at $19.95/month. As an option you are able to choose "Fall Detection Service" which monitors and immediately sends an emergency message in the event of a fall. The center can then talk to the person and determine if any further action needs to take place. The unit is rechargeable through a USB charger. To sum up this unit, I think it is best in class.

We purchased this for an elderly family member and have been satisfied so far. Set up: We were able to activate it and select a plan online, but it did not go as smoothly as it should have because the online descriptions did not match what I was experiencing. It was after hours so I could not get telephone help. I just plugged away, though, and it all worked out, so I'm not subtracting stars for that. The front of the box says that we get a month free but we haven't figured out how to actually get that yet. It didn't happen automatically and there is no promotion code. If we don't get the advertised free month, I'll try to remember to come back and change the review. We randomly tested the device twice and both times someone responded very quickly and professionally, so that was reassuring. We haven't convinced her to wear the device around her neck yet, even though it's not heavy. At least it's set up for now in a place that she has access to and we feel confident about the service. We don't need it for fall detection anyway.

The features seem very good. I like the GPS locator in case someone was to ‘wander away’. Or, you’d know where they are in case they were late – similar to Apples’ “Find Friends” app. The push button is good size and haven’t had a ‘false alarm’ yet! This is the only device I’ve ever tried or investigated, and thus far, seems very good The only issue I've had - and it may have been 'operator error' was that the unit beeped and shut down after less than eight hours. I thought I had a full charge (over night - it showed solid green) and was surprised when it stopped! Maybe an isolated error on my part. Easy, light weight. Effective. Test calls were smooth and efficient. I tested the lost or misplaced instructions - and a 'ping' was received loud and clear. I installed the smartphone app and it gives good information regarding my GPS location (or if I had a family member needing to know where I had wandered off to!).

This is a useful product. The fact that it is cellular, makes it particularly useful in power outages. The size is great. I would prefer to be able to wear it around my neck in which case an even smaller size would be good. I do not like the bell chimes it makes to alert you to put it on the charger. It can be startling and happen at inconvenient times such as when you are sleeping. I also find the blinking light to let you know the product is charged to be disconcerting. I was not sure of pushing the button to test the system as I really did not wish to bother first responders if not needed. The 5Star operator answered immediately and was very polite and understanding. I do like the product and I think that any issues I have would be lessened by more familiarity of the product in time, such as placing it on the charger at night next to your bed.

This product offers something that few others do; piece of mind. The device is simple to explain to a user who's, presumably, not 'tech' savvy. We all remember the ad where an elderly person says, " help, I've fallen and I can't get up." This device addresses that dreaded situation but adds some well-thought-out additions to that concept. If a user falls the unit will detect it and contact assistance. It's also GPS enabled allowing first responders to locate the person. I like this product but was disappointed to learn that the detection of a user falling is an optional service and there's a disclaimer that the feature doesn't always work. I'm 69 years old and, so far, don't need a product like this but I wouldn't hesitate to subscribe to this service should the need arise.

The Lively Mobile Medical Alert is the perfect product if you need a handy "HELP" button for the safety of a loved one. It is well constructed and sturdy. When you press the call button, you hear the prompt response of a real person. If you are unable to speak, they know the location of your device and can send assistance. If you hang up, they will call back to see what the issue is. Charging has been made as easy as possible - you just nestle the device in its cradle. A confirmation tone assures you that it is in correctly. If you forget to charge it, a "low battery" alert will gently remind you. The charge will last almost two full days, but if you charge it at night, you'll never have to worry.

I think that Lively Mobile is very good in that it is an all-around safety device and provides alerts in several different situations. It is not only helpful with medical problems and emergencies but also helps to provide safety and security. To me as an elderly person, this is important, because elderly persons are more vulnerable or at higher risk for injury or death in many different situations. Lively Mobile addresses these situations, such as falling in public or private places or being more vulnerable to crime or getting lost. Lively Mobile provides quick assistance is needed. The elderly often get lost and get confused with their medications. Lively Mobile provides help.
