Synopsis

Grudge Match
Two retired boxers (Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro) decide to settle a long-standing beef by heading back into the ring in this sports comedy from director Peter Segal. Back in the day, Billy "The Kid" McDonnen (De Niro) and Henry "Razor" Sharp (Stallone) were the two biggest bruisers in the Pittsburgh boxing scene. Their fierce rivalry drawing nationwide attention, Razor and The Kid were deadlocked for the title of overall champion when the former announced his retirement just before the decisive 1983 match that would have determined the supreme champion. Three decades later, enterprising boxing promoter Dante Slate Jr. (Kevin Hart) lures the aging pugilists back into the ring for the fight that everyone has been waiting for. Meanwhile, when Razor and The Kid see each other for the first time in 30 years, the cameras are rolling as tempers suddenly flare. In no time that unscheduled scuffle goes viral, prompting both fighters to resume their intensive training in a bid to be the one who delivers the knockout blow during the highly anticipated bout. Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger, and Jon Bernthal costar. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This movie is one of the most underrated movies that I've seen in a while. I got it, on sale, and since I'm already a boxing fan as is and loved Raging Bull and the Rocky movies, it couldn't hurt to pay a little more than it would be to just rent it. I'll admit, I was expecting it to be extremely cheezy (which it was in some parts), I found myself laughing way more throughout the movie than anticipated. For those that are boxing fans, the added bonus was imagining what it would be like if Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao never fought, only to see them fight in their 60's, when nobody really cares anymore.

I really enjoyed watching this movie. It was fun to see Stallone and De Niro together in a boxing movie, considering they both did boxing movies earlier in their career that help make them stars. It's not a straight comedy, it's not a drama, but it was a fun enjoyable story about two fighters who need to fight one last time, to determine who is the best. The disc looked fantastic. I enjoyed the extras that are on this disk. It comes with Blu-ray, DVD and a digital copy. I think it's an underrated movie, that if you give it a chance, you will really enjoy it.

I saw it in the theater during Christmas vacation. I liked it so much, I waited for the movie to be released on DVD. Stallone and De Niro share common ground by acting as boxers from their previous works combined. They get to relive their past by working on this particular project. Rounding the movie out was getting actors like Kevin Hart, Alan Arkin, and Kim Basinger to play smaller roles. Overall it's a good combination of a comedy and drama.

The movie showcases two legendary actors who showed that they are still very entertaining. Although billed as an action comedy, this movie leans more toward a heartfelt drama about two aged rival boxers squaring off one last time to see who is the best. It has enough comical relief to break things up while still sending a powerful message .I thoroughly enjoyed this film despite the critics tempid reviews.

Don't listen to the negative reviews. Stallone and DeNiro give some really good and funny performances along with Kevin Hart as well. The friction between Stallone and DeNiro's characters will have you laughing throughout the movie. Alan Arkin, in my opinion steals the show with his quirky one liners. Highly recommend seeing this one.

Funny movie about 2 washed up boxers past their prime but yet a promoter (Kevin Hart-very very funny in this role) wants to get the 2 of them for one last match. Stallone and Dinero have a history which comes to light in this movie which lends to the story line. Recommend for most ages. Worth buying.

It’s Light, It’s Funny and It’s just a good comedy based around a “second-chances” boxing come-back. There is a quality story-line and some very fine acting which makes this film a fun view that at times is emotionally touching. But the end is not the end so see the Credits through!
