Fantastic Vessel
||Posted .I used this for the first time for Thanksgiving. Was apprehensive about cooking a turkey in it but it turned out fabulous. The unit is easy to clean, use and store. Highly recommended as the controls are very sharp, in easy location and an added bonus is the handles to lock the lid. Comes with a spoon, a temperature probe and owners manual that is in English.

A great replacement for the old slow cooker
||Posted .I researched it, read many reviews and finally settled on purchasing this slow cooker to replace my old crock pot. I am pleased to report that I made the correct choice. The performance of the unit has been outstanding thus far and I have no problem recommending this slow cooker to others. Because I did read that some other users had a problem with the unit just shutting off during the cooking cycle, I spent a few more dollars for an extended service plan just in case. I have used it many times and it has performed flawlessly each time. There have been no unexpected shut off issues at all. I love the sophisticated look of it. It is very easy to program and I absolutely love being able to program it to cook to whatever temperature I want using the food probe that comes with it. Once the probe hits the desired temperature, it instantly switches to keeping the food warm. It is an excellent way to not overcook the meat and bring it to a safe cooking temperature. There are many slow cookers out there to choose but for me, I found this one to be the best overall value with excellent performance.

Great slow cooker!
||Posted .I really love this slow cooker! It's plenty spacious enough to hold a large corned beef brisket with all the trimmings and all turn out fantastic! It's very easy to use, dishwasher-safe crock and lid, has a nice appearance and sweet extras like the temperature probe and locking lid with spoon rest and spoon included. I also really like that once it is done cooking it shifts to a keep warm mode. I've only had this appliance about a month and have used it several times with great results! I would also like to mention that the Best Buy store I purchased this at did not have any in stock the day I went in. But they ordered one for me and had it sent directly to my house with no charge for shipping. I ordered it late on a Monday afternoon and it arrived Thursday morning ... wow!!

It was "supposed" to be a gift
||Posted .I purchased this item thinking it would be the perfect Christmas present for my mother. And it certainly would have been, except it turns out my brother had gotten her a similar gift already. I considered returning it, but decided that maybe it was time I grew up and started learning how to cook. I figured what better way then by keeping this monster and making myself something other than a quickie meal for a change. My first attempt was barbecue for sandwiches. It was delicious. And so easy to make. Next came the pot roast with potatos, carrots and onions. Also, tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. I had plenty of leftovers to freeze, even after eating on it for two days. Something tells me I'm going to gain a few pounds, but it'll be worth it. If you are on the fence about a slow cooker, I recommend this product. The price was great and the quality is excellent. Writing this review has made me hungry. Let's see what I can throw together in the pot today.

Perfect to set and go!
||Posted .With my old Slow Cooker I had to have a independent timer plugged into the wall and hope that I had set everything correctly and be worried that it would actually turn on and off when it was supposed to. With this new one, though, I have no fears that I am going to either over or under cook something. It makes cooking stock and stews SO much easier. My husband and I both work until 9pm so by the time we get home there is usually no way that either of us is going to start cooking at that hour. I can prepare things before I leave for work and know that all I have to do when I get home is plate and prepare a salad. It really has made my life so much easier (and healthier now that I am not tempted to grab some fast food on the way home!)

Quality product, a few minor quirks
||Posted .Overall, very pleased with this purchase. Mostly designed well with sturdy build (nothing will easily break off). Clean design that looks good on the countertop. Pretty easy to use and most features are intuitive. A few minor annoyances: 1) I love having the thermometer, but there is no self-sealing hole where it goes in, nor an included plug to fill the hole. That means you almost have to have the thermometer in every single time you use it (and thus, also have to clean the thermometer each time) or you'll have a hole in your lid where steam and heat will escape. 2) I love that it drops down to warm when it detects cooking is done. At the same time, the "warm" is a bit too warm, and the food continues to cook a bit too rapidly versus keeping it at a nice steady serving temperature. Since the unit insulates well, I end up turning the unit off entirely versus keeping it on warm. Wish the "warm" was also thermostat based, turning the heating element off and on versus continuous warm heat.

So far...So good!
||Posted .This is the 2nd Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker I've had in this model. The 1st went out within a couple of years so I bought a different, more expensive, popular brand to replace it. I didn't like it near as much as the Hamilton Beach so I'm going to give it another try. I think the sealing lid is what makes the HB slow cooker better than most. The replacement I bought had a lid that just sat on top. It didn't seal in the heat, so it took forever for my roasts to cook and they weren't near as tender as they were when I cooked them in the HB slow cooker. It's extremely easy to program as it has 3 different programming modes to choose from. So...fingers crossed that this unit will last longer than 2-3 years this 2nd time around!

Q: Questiondoes it turn off automatically after it is done cooking... I work long hours and would hate to come home to a fire

Q: QuestionWhat is the temperature range? Can I put it in 400 degree F and fry onion then add other stuff and decrease the temperature to 300F?
Asked by Sah.
- A:Answer Thank you for your question. The slow cooker does not work like an oven, as it slowly rises in temperature to cook over a longer period of time. The temperatures for each setting are High: 200-225°F Low: 180-200°F Keep Warm: 165°F.

Q: QuestionCan you program the Slow Cooker to cook on high for 2 hours then switch to low for 4 hours then go to keep warm?
Asked by goldagain.
- A:Answer It doesn't step down the cooking but it will cook at the set level (high or low) for the desired amount of time and then switches to Keep Warm. You can also cook using the probe and it will modify itself as needed.

Q: QuestionDoes "programmable" mean I can set it to come on at a specific time and cut off at a specific time?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No, unfortunately you cannot choose a time to start or end, just set the number of hours to cook, Hi or Lo, and when it shuts off, it keeps the food warm.

Q: QuestionHello. I'm researching for a new crockpot. The last one always burned mashed potatoes when I put them in there on warm. Does this crockpot have a problem with burning things?
Asked by Mindi.
- A:Answer I have not had a problem at all with this crockpot burning things. However, I have not cooked mashed potatoes in mine, so I can’t speak to that particular issue. On a side note, I do not like using the crock pot bags. I feel that it messes with the heat process once the crockpot is on the warm setting. I use the baking nonstick spray and it leaves no mess! I’m sorry I couldn’t answer your question about the mashed potatoes, but I hope the part about me not having any problems with burning food helped.
