    Synopsis

    Hands of Stone
This biopic about boxing legend Roberto Duran (Edgar Ramirez) follows his rise from a two-fisted street urchin in Panama to a gifted amateur known for Round 1 knockouts. Along the way he gains fame, riches and the love of Felicidad (Ana de Armas), but a chance meeting with boxing coach Ray Arcel (Robert De Niro) takes his fighting skills to a level where he can defeat American champion Sugar Ray Leonard (Usher Raymond). The lessons Arcel teaches his protégé about psychological cleverness in and out of the ring carries Duran through the darkest part of his career, when the notorious "No más" rematch against Leonard threatens to derail his entire legacy. Robert De Niro's adopted daughter Drena De Niro plays Ray Arcel's adopted daughter in this bilingual feature written and directed by Venezuelan director Jonathan Jakubowicz. ~ Violet LeVoit, Rovi

The 30 for 30 "No Mas" was 100x better. I love Edgar Ramirez and he does ok as Duran but the story is just so disappointing. They make Duran look nothing like he was in real life. He was a legit tough guy, a guy who inspired Tyson. In the movie, it's just like a big pity party on him and they make him look soft. Weird and pointless side stories about the Canal and Ray Arcel's daughter. Lack of training sequences and the fights were disappointing. Usher is in it for like 5 minutes. Considering trading this in because I doubt I will ever watch it again.

This movie chronicles the life of the Roberto Duran the only fighter to beat Sugar Ray Leonard. Overall the movie was good but I think the thing with Hollwood is, they make movies according to society and generational boundaries at the time of production, once someone does a movie outside those confines then its groundbreaking stuff. This movie was within those confines.

The story was great because it expanded in the fight and the people surrounding Durán. It also showed the more human side as well as explained a bit more of the reasoning for the "no más". BUT, the big question that's always surrounded this story that it doesn't touch on is whether or not or how much of it is true. Some real testimonials by the real people is what was needed at the end.

While Usher's portrayal of SugaRAY Leonard pales in comparison to Will Smiths "ALI," The singer does an adequate job of giving us what The real Sugar Man did not; A LOOK IN2THE MINDSET of what drove the fiercest & most anticipated Boxing Rivalry since Ali Vs. Frazier 1. GET IT IF YOU'RE A BOXING BUFF, enjoy it as a fan.

I think Hands of Stone is a very underrated movie. It follows the 5th ranked pound for pound fighter of all time Roberto Duran, and legendary coach Ray Arcel. Well written part for both characters, also really enjoyed when Roberto Duran won the title...Roberto di Nero, Edgar Ramirez, and Usher are all fabulous acting.

Movie portrays the rise of DURNA THRU THE BOXING WORLS BUT MISSED ON A LOT OF DETAILS KNOWN TO BOXING BUFFS LIKE HIS VIEW OF HIS THREE FIGHTS VERSUS HIS NEMESIS Esteban de Jesus who beat him first. movie is entertaining but a few spicy scenes make the same mindful of young viewers need to refrained from the same

A classic cinderella story about coming from nothing to hitting it big, add a bit of politics during the Panama Canal controversy, from the look of the people, and a latino boxer trying to get recognition from the boxer community in the states. Great performances and a great story.

Went into this movie not knowing anything about it. Seeing a different side of the story (other than USA all the way) is a pleasant change and makes the story entertaining. Also the change of characters throughout the story builds with the phenomenal acting by some great artists of their craft.
