Even when Clint is just being Clint, it works!

Clint Eastwood? Check Western? Check Revenge? Check 3 pieces to a film, normally 2 out of 3 would be great, but add #3 and you have something really fun to watch on your hands. While the movie isn't as good as High Plains Drifter or Unforgiven (They set the bar pretty high) it's still a very solid movie from beginning to end. The opening scene sets the tone throughout the whole movie and depicts some common traits that occur in mob justice even today. Rushing to judgement, the minority in the crowd being afraid to speak up, falsely accusing the innocent.... it can really set off a nerve as you're watching it but you can only watch as the injustice plays out on the screen. Hang on though, it gets really good!

Rawhide made him a TV star. The Man With No Name gave him feature film cred. This movie is where Clint starts making films for himself, his way, his brand. It is a precursor to the great films to come. Still you have Clint as the conflicted western hero. Strong supporting cast. Less action than we are used to as the story explores western justice but it looks terrific in High Def despite its age. A little grain never hurt those dusty Western scenes. Pick it up at a great price, then go buy Josey Wales, the Man With No Name Trilogy, Unforgiven, etc.

This is a great blu ray transfer of an older film. It is very film like. I highly recommend getting this blu ray of this particular Clint Eastwood movie because they don't ruin it by trying to do all of that noise reduction and edge enhancement garbage. This blu ray was made for the true fans. It looks great on blu ray... in fact it looks amazing. The film grain is intact, and there is just the proper amount of it. This looks so awesome on my 50" plasma. This is an example of how blu ray movies should look.

After the first three films, all shot in Italy, this was Clint's first western shot in America. Eastwood is the American cowboy. Good movie with a good supporting cast including Alan Hale, Jr. Clint is no longer the "man without a name." In this movie he is named Jed Cooper. Check it out.

The American version of trying to copy a spegetti western is satisfying at best but lacking the spectrum of an epic film like "The good, the bad and the Ugly." The film keeps your intrest like any Eastwood film would do. But it feels dated as it was made.

An enjoyable western from Clint with a great cast - even Ed Begley Jr's dad makes an appearance. I prefer Clint's "Man with no-name" trilogy and "Unforgiven" but this an interesting transitional effort between those very different types of westerns.

I own the DVD version of this movie and it pales in comparison to the the Blu-Ray version. The movie stands on its own and now in Blu-Ray the movie takes on a new life. Highly recommend buying this movie.

I've seen this before as I am a huge Eastwood fan but getting it on Blu-Ray for $6.99? Tough to pass up. They don't make many westerns anymore and if they did, I doubt they could pull off this level of brilliance.
