    Synopsis

    Happy Gilmore
Adam Sandler's second popular starring vehicle after Billy Madison is a goofy lowbrow paean to golf, hockey, and the comic hysterics of its childlike star. In Happy Gilmore, Sandler plays the title character, a raw, determined, but ultimately untalented hockey player who keeps trying out for the pros. When Happy discovers his grandmother (Frances Bay) will lose her home if she doesn't fork over 270,000 dollars to the IRS, he tries to figure out how he can possibly scrounge up the cash. An idea strikes during a game of one-upmanship with a couple furniture movers stripping his grandmother's home: On his first-ever swing, he drives a golf ball farther than the movers have ever seen. Before long, he has transplanted the foul-mouthed, aggressive persona of the hockey rink to the links, winning an amateur tourney that earns him a spot on the pro tour. Throttling everyone from a helpless caddy to game show host Bob Barker during the course of his 90-day quest to amass prize money, Happy also wins the sport a legion of new fans with his in-your-face style. Guiding him on his quest is a whimsical retired pro who lost his hand to an alligator (Carl Weathers) and an attractive public relations woman charmed by Happy's antics (Julie Bowen). Opposing him, however, is sneering hotshot Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald), who will do anything to win his championship jacket and see Happy fail. ~ Derek Armstrong, Rovi

2016 marks the 20th anniversary of Adam Sandler's 2nd feature film, Happy Gilmore. Overall, the film holds up quite well and has a great ensemble cast. The blu ray picture quality is very good for a 20 year old comedy, and the sound is more than adequate. Highly recommended!

This is such a corny but entertaining flick. Many weekends when I was in middle school watching this movie. "Shampoo is bettah, not Conditioner is bettah. I make the hair silky and smooth" So many great quotes from this movie.

What happened to Sandler? This film is a comedy classic. If you don't laugh at least a couple times at this movie you may want to check your pulse. Maybe Sandler should watch this for inspiration for future projects

OK, I really only purchased this to fill in a gap in my Adam Sandler collection. However it is one of my favorites, especially since I like to golf but I am not a good golfer. The fight scene with Bob Barker is a highlight.

More of Adam Sandler playing the usual childish and idiotic characters he has come to be typecast as. Overall, a funny movie and decent hd-dvd, but considering the price, I'd probably opt for the regular dvd and save some money.

If you are a fan of formulaic comedies like i am then you should be happy with this movie. Solid supporting roles help sandler knock this one out of the park.

This is my all time favorite Adam Sandler movie. This was when he was actually funny. The movie is very funny and almost a little off kilter at times, but that is what's best about it.

Adam Sandler at his best! Unlike his current films, this is gut-wrenching comedy from Adam Sandler and just provides a great laugh time and time again. Worth every penny, especially when on sale!
