Not ready for primetime.
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I own a 4 tuner HD Homerun Quatro and absolutely love it. The hardware is top notch and I would highly recommend it. This device on the other hand, not so much. Silicon Dust is an excellent maker of products. They are not great at the free software they provide. I honestly found the software to be flat out clunky. I would sum it up as it's simply not ready for primetime. This device will be great for people who use the Silicon Dust software and are happy with it. At the moment, you can't export or edit your recordings and Channels app isn't supported and they have plans to do so. The biggest downside to this products is that it only works with the HD Homerun software. The software is still not available on the AppleTV. You'll need to use a FireTV or a Roku to use it. I have FireTVs on all of my tvs in the house, but AppleTV is my go-to device. I use the Channels TV app on my AppleTV with my HD Homerun. I was hoping to avoid buying and setting up as NAS. I ended up returning this and doing exactly that. I saw some videos from Lon.tv on YouTube and ended up getting a WD PR2100 (has hardware transcoding) and use the Channels DVR and Plex as a media server. I was shocked with how easy it was to setup. Wish I would have done this a lot sooner. I can't stress enough how great the Silicon Dust products are. I hope they will turn attention to an ATSC 3.0 tuner sooner than later. Also, they really need a UI/UX designer with their software as it looks like it's made by a bunch of engineers that don't understand software design and ease-of-use.

Great hardware, horrible software
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. The Servio works well as a recording device. What doesn’t work well is the HDHomeRun software. The interface is slow. Getting to the recordings page is hidden. What really made me return this was playback in the app. It was slow to load, slow to fast forward, difficult to manage and delete recordings. I returned this and went with the Channels App and Channels DVR using a NAS. Sadly the Servio is proprietary and you can’t access recordings in any app other than HDHomeRun. If you don’t hate the HDHomeRun software you won’t mind this. I’m running this with HDHomeRun Connect Quattro.

Posted .We're sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We are actually working hard to make the HDHomeRun SERVIO and SCRIBE drives available to Channels and other 3rd party platforms, so they can be accessible just like our CONNECT and EXTEND tuners. Thanks for the review!

Good Hardware. Software could still use work.
||Posted .Owned for 9 months when reviewed.Plug it in and forget about it. Much simpler than having to deal with my Qnap NAS setup. There’s also an Apple TV app now.

Distance is a factor.
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Works well in conjunction with my WiFi. Proximity to my TV is an issue.

One year life
Posted .Have owned 2. The first one the electrical port was shorting out. Possibly due to moving it around. Got a second one thinking I was unlucky and didn't want to change my set up. Second one died at about 1 year. Not long enough for something that sits in the corner.

Posted .We are sorry to hear you had this experience. If your second device died within a year, which it must have given we only launched the SERVIO about a year ago, please reach out to customer support. We have a warranty specifically for you.
One of the most important qualities about HDHomeRun products is that they last. We are still supporting boxes from 2008. If you are experiencing failure after a year, we will always be there to help.

Q: QuestionWill this record live tv streaming from my Amazon Firestick
Asked by Tattooed.
- A:Answer No. This is for recording Over the Air TV from an antenna or cable from a cable card. Not streaming TV.

Q: QuestionI have a antenna do I need something extra to record shows ? Reading other questions it seems so.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I sure wish the company would answer your question! I want to know too. There is so much technical information that we don't care about, but no information on if it works to record from an antenna and play the saved recordings back on a regular, new TV, without any other hardware, or subscriptions. Hey there "Site Operators", Please answer us!!!
Answered by Alan1
Q: QuestionWill it record from Roku or Phibo?
Asked by Rick.
- A:Answer As far as I understand, the Servio will only record from a HDHomerun tuner device so you will need one (or more) of their tuners to go along with your Servio.
