Although the current season has moved on to introduce some new characters, season 4 had some of its best moments with some of the old ones. Of course, Cullen Bohannon, Doc Durant & The Swede are the steady regulars, I was really pleased with Elam's return episode and blown away with Ruth's showcase as her world gets turned upside down episode. INCREDIBLE! It should also go without saying that technical marks are all 9's & 10's across the board for audio & video presentation scores! For a show that people feared was looking at cancellation after the second season, it has returned better than ever. Westerns will always be here to stay when done right.

Even if you watched the show on cable, the box set is worth it just for the out takes and extras. It is a true story with some embellishments so the story does not become to dull with historical facts. My only regret is that the current season 5 is the last season. The story will be told and finished at the end in 2016. I now have all four seasons on Blue Ray, the scenes are fantastic, breathtaking sometimes. Great photography. And the story is also well worth watching over again.

As good, if not better than the first three seasons. The writing, acting and sets are spot on for the period. The bluray video is sharp and clear. Color is rich contrast and black level is excellent. Sound is very good, bass especially in frequent gun fire is realistic with appropriate punch. Only complaint is surround sound is only so so, but that is the case for a great many television series.

centers around the main character's struggles during the construction of the transcontinental railroad in the years following the Civil War. The stories are good, the production values are high, and the cinematography is beautiful. One of the better shows that never found a wider audience.

It is too bad they are only going with 5 seasons. But season 4 was one of the best yet. Yes, they have no reservations on who they kill off but the style and reasons (and revenge) along with a strong cast and story line make up for it. Episode Two Trains was absolutely awesome!

I have all the previous seasons and enjoy watching them from time to time. I will impatiently be waiting for the series to continue and will, of course, purchase the next season on dvd.. Good series on TV are hard to find at a good price like BestBuy offers.

This season was one of less violence and more interaction of characters. One of the best interaction was between Durant and Campbell with each one trying to out do the others. I can only hope that the last season ends as well as it began.

If you love westerns and history Hell on wheels is one you don't want to miss. Season four ups to ante and gives you another good season only draw back is Commons noticeable absence for most of the season.
