Not a bad western. Don't get me wrong, it's not a Tombstone or an Open Range. Hickok is a lower budget affair. That being said, the production values are pretty good. I've seen a lot worse in direct-to-video westerns. Along those lines, the acting is a sight better than many of these westerns that go straight to DVD and streaming. Hemsworth is good in the title role. We get genre staples Kris Kristofferson, Bruce Dern, and Peter Sherayko, albeit in small roles. That is okay, because Hemsworth carries the film just fine. Trace Adkins, as the villain, has gotten better in his acting abilities and the western genre seems to suit him fine. Overall, this is a solid effort. I would have liked a few more gunfights, but that's a small complaint. Hickok doesn't do anything groundbreaking, and it isn't the best western to be released in recent years. However, it is good entertainment and as far as the direct-to-video market goes, this is one of the better ones. Recommended.

We'll, this movie was a huge disappoint. With the cast I thought it had to be good,,,,,, WRONG! Despite the actors in it, acting was bad, storyline was bad, action was bad, ending was bad. It was like a bunch of guys got together and said, "hey let's make a western this weekend. I can't really think of anything good to say about this movie except it wasn't the worst movie I have seen.

I was hoping it would follow Wild Bill more from his being born in Illinois to his Death in Deadwood SD.But is a very good movie that kept me interested and I did not feel like I wasted a few hours of my time watching. If you like Westerns this is for you.

An OK movie , but with A LOT of holes in it . Acting was alright. Trace Atkins was good as a heavy. The movie could have been much, much more . Too bad the writer did not spend more time researching Wild Bill .

This was a family western, I would rate PG. It didn't have too much nudity or violence, but is definitely, a movie you could watch with the entire family.

I purchased this movie on 4K because it was cheap and I can see why it was as cheap as it was. A lot of action and I enjoy westerns, wish it would have been cheaper.

The movie as a whole was decent, but at 88 mins, pretty short. Not much of a plot, the 4K picture was nice, the sound was good. Overall an average movie
