Solid tv for the price. 1 - I replaced the legs with my own center stand. 2 - The remote has comfortable buttons. When I'm in the menu, it's easy to find the back button without looking. 3 - Happy to finally have a smart tv where I will be using the smart tv apps vs using a Roku stick like I do on another smart tv I own (do not like the other tv's remote so I find the Roku remote easier to work with on that one). Some TV manufacturers don't realize how important a comfortable remote control is!! 4 - The tv picture is very crisp, so ignore the swirly lines towards the right of the photo. I angled the camera so not to get the glare from my sunny window in. 5 - The only negative so far is, when I switch on to Amazon Prime the volume goes movie theater loud, so I have to quickly lower it back down to a reasonable volume. Does not do that when I open Netflix (the volume stays the same as what I use on regular tv). 6 - The tv is very light, so there's no worry of dropping it while you're putting it in its place Overall, very happy with this purchase.

I bought this TV because I was looking to upgrade my 32" TV for a bigger 43". I chose this TV because in the specifications listed it said that it had component inputs and because I feel like Hisense is a good TV brand. The TV does not have component inputs which is disappointing, but I decided to give it a try anyway since finding a 43" TV with component inputs seems impossible. Turning on the TV I noticed that its slow to boot, it has to boot up android every time the TV is completely shut off. I suppose that is OK, but I would prefer if it didn't have to boot android first, it would be nice if android could boot in the background while the TV just turns on and defaults to my last channel or input I had. Once the TV is booted though the performance is not bad, I didn't find the interface to be sluggish. The TV has 4 GB of storage, which is not great but I had no issues installing my streaming services and updating the TV to the latest update. I still have about 2 GB left for apps after I installed everything I use. One really annoying thing about the android TV is I cannot adjust the picture or sound settings if I am in an app, watching YouTube for example or chromecasting from my phone. Pressing the menu button on the remote does nothing and will not bring up the menu to adjust the picture settings for brightness or sound settings when I want to adjust my sound profile. This is a very important feature to me, I need to be able to change the picture settings while using the android TV and watching content. The only way to change the picture settings is to pause the content, go back to the home screen, click on the settings on the top right of the home screen and adjust it if needed. This is terrible as I can't fine tune the picture while the content is playing. I emailed Hisense support about it and I hope there is a way to adjust settings while using apps. If I don't hear back within a week I'm probably going to return the TV. On other inputs like HDMI or coax I can adjust the picture and sound settings as expected, just not when using Android TV. Setting the TV up was easy. It was packaged fairly well and was not difficult to remove from the box. Putting the legs on the TV is not hard, but I preferred to use my own TV stand. The setup process took a few minutes, it is your standard android setup. I got stuck at the part when it was time to connect to the WiFi. It would not take my password at first when I tried to set it up with my phone but once I entered the password manually on the TV it worked, sort of. I was trying to connect it to my 5Ghz WiFi 5 (802.11ac) only network but every time I would connect it would disconnect. I then connected it to my 2.4Ghz WiFi 4 (802.11n) network and it worked. Later I changed my router setting to work with 5Ghz WiFi 4 (802.11n) and the TV was able to connect to it. So it appears that the TV does not work with 5Ghz WiFi 5 (802.11ac) networks which is disappointing. The Terms of service are a little bit discouraging, there is a line that mentions "We may also transfer Personal Information we collect from you to the People's Republic of China .." I decided to accept anyway but I'm a bit sketched out. I connected an antenna to the TV, opened the channels app, and did a channel scan. It had no issues picking up my local channels. Watching live antenna TV was straight forward, I have no complaints about the interface as it worked just like a normal non smart TV. The picture quality is good, everything is nice, clear and I like it. The maximum brightness on the TV is not bright enough. It's not a problem for me since my room is fairly dark but in a bright room, I can see it being a problem. When the screen is completely blank, you'll notice a bit of light bleed on the edges of the screen but that doesn't bother me. The TV is not HDR or HDR compatible. The remote is decent, my only gripe is that you have to point it directly at the TV otherwise it doesn't work. I was a bit disheartened learning about this since I like to snuggle in bed with my remote underneath my sheets and use it to lower or increase volume, adjust picture settings, and change channels. The remote will not work with any obstacles in the way including bed sheets so if I were to use it this way, I would need to stick my hand out from under the sheets and use the remote, on cold days this is not acceptable. Luckily the remote has Bluetooth as well! Once I paired the remote via Bluetooth the remote worked fine underneath my sheets and all was well. The layout of the remote is fine and all of the essential buttons are there. The microphone feature works okay as long as you talk into the remote. Something strange about the remote I noticed is that after I turn off the TV at night and set it down the remote would crackle and pop. Not a huge concern, just found it a bit strange and I think that will go away later once it's broken in more. The IR receiver on the TV is really big and has a really big red light that can't be turned off. I hate it, especially if I can't turn it off as it lights up my room at night. The sound quality is good. I did not need to adjust any settings for the TV to sound normal to me. The inputs on the TV are fine but disappointing. You have a coax, 2 HDMI, a composite, and a USB port. 2 HDMI ports on a TV is not enough. I wish it had 3 or more and I wish it had a component input. Switching inputs is easy with the dedicated input button on the remote. Sometimes though after turning on the TV and switching the input it would flip back to the android TV input which is annoying. Playing games on the TV, I did not perceive any significant latency with game mode on or off which is neat. I think game mode made a very slight difference but it was hardly noticeable. The TV uses about 55 watts of power at max brightness which is not too bad and at 0% brightness it uses about 16 watts which is not bad. On standby the TV uses about 4.5 watts which is a lot and not good, way more than the spec sheet says. When the TV is completely off, the TV is drawing less power than my meter could read, almost 0 watts which is excellent. If you use this as a normal non smart TV this is a great TV. If you don't care about the feature to change your picture settings while content is playing through Android TV, or the small storage space, it's not a bad TV. I may end up returning this TV though if I don't hear back from Hisense support or find a way to adjust picture settings while using android TV. It's a shame, I really like the overall look of the TV, the picture quality is great, the sound is good but I need to be able to adjust picture settings while content is playing.
