Synopsis

Hitman
An international assassin known only as Agent 47 (Timothy Olyphant) carries out high-profile hits for a mysterious organization known only as "The Agency" in this adaptation of the popular Eidos Interactive video-game series. Agent 47 is an elite, genetically engineered assassin who takes great pride in his work. His lethal grace, steady shot, and unparalleled precision have all served to make him one of the most sought-after assassins in the world. But when the killer without a conscience is faced with an unanticipated series of developments, his entire perception of reality begins to shift. On assignment to take out Russian head of state Belicoff (Ulrich Thomsen), Agent 47 is caught off guard by the appearance of presidential look-alikes. When the high-profile hit captures the attention of such powerful intelligence organizations as the CIA and Interpol, agent Mike Whittier (Dougray Scott) is dispatched to rein Agent 47 in. Meanwhile, a mysterious Russian prostitute named Nika (Olga Kurylenko) has walked into Agent 47's life, causing the methodical killer to become overwhelmed by emotions that were previously foreign to him. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

    Good - entertaining - action-packed

Great action-packed movie with nice clear picture and wonderfully shot scenes. Tim Olyphant was perfect for this role - and his performance would eat Jason Statham's for breakfast in this (besides, Jason's busy on his other 500 action movies he's doing). I also loved Tim Olyphant as the nemesis in Live Free or Die Hard. Perfect casting here too. Agent 47 is supposed to be 'cold and dry' - yet slightly show there is something 'underneath' that wants to come out but is fighting life-long 'training/brain-washing' by those who brought him up. Plot sometimes left you wanting a little more 'human feel' and possibly a little more substance, but nevertheless, still kept you interested and surprised at every turn. Definitely worth watching - and watch out for more outstanding performances from Olyphant (catch Live Free or Die Hard if you haven't) - and surely more to come.

the shooting scenes are ok, but i know that that much blood would never come out of somebody if you shot them with a pistol. tim olyphant does fairly good as the video game character and surprised me because i thought he was gonna suck at this role. dont get me wrong, i like olyphant, i just didnt see him as the hitman until i saw it. all the detectives do ok as they are one step behind agent 47 all the time. that hot chick doesnt make any since at all because she loved 47 even though he drugs her and leaves her in a hotel. and the first 20 -30 minutes of the movie is not that well done at all. they skip around to much like they didnt want to tell the story of the movie. and on top of all this, its a game-based movie. probably the best but thata not saying much.

You don't have to me familiar with the video game on which the movie is based on to enjoy the story and the action. The story centers on a genetically enhanced and specially trained assassin working on behalf of a secret organization. The trouble begins when the organization decides to terminate their prized asset--known as Agent 47. Agent 47 then spends the rest of the movie going after the organization the created him. The movie has slick fight scenes and a love interest in the form of Olga Kurylenko. Timothy Olyphant stars as Agent 47 with great ability.

So, yeah... not exactly blown away by the story that justifies Agent 47's assassin ways by making him a anti-hero (which he isn't and shouldn't be), but the back story on his actual origins is quite unique. Timothy Olaphant (or however it's spelt or for that matter, pronounced) just isn't a good enough fit in my opinion. I had high high hopes for the sequel as the late Paul Walker was cast and later recast as Rupert Friend after the tragic news...gotta tell ya, don't think I'll buy it until it's in the cheapy bin...I mean come on, Friend has such dark black hair that whomever was assigned to makeup should've been fired after the first makeup test cause Agent 47 is shining bald, not 5 o'clock shadowed...ugh.

    Ditch the Controller

Video games don't often lend themselves to good movies. In the case of "Hitman", the writers took a solid action/adventure game and turned it into a funny, exciting ham-fest with Tim Olyphant at the helm. Code Name 47, Olyphant, is a bred-for-hire assassin with a twist: He comes with a religious streak. When he's betrayed in the middle of an operation, he must take down the very corporation he helped support. The camerwork is solid, jumping to just the right angle to watch a head explode. The guns are over-the-top and the gunplay is even more so. The dialogue is cheesy, but you should expect nothing less. The plot is drab and some of the devices are tired and uninteresting. But you can't deny that you leave the film smiling, even if it feels like you just sat through a long joke.

With all the game to movie adaptations, the ones that are complete bombs, I was hesitant about seeing this movie at first. Then Christmas rolled around and my girl bought it for me... + I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the film as a whole. There was a ton of action and an interesting storyline. I really think that the cast delivered extremely well, way better than I had suspected. + As I was saying, there is a large amount of action, but best of all they get the point across without blood flying all over the place. I hate when movies have to have unrealistic blood exploding all over the place! + Since getting the movie on Christmas, I have watched it three times and it hasn't yet become boring. I would certainly recommend at least seeing it once. Good stuff!

If you are into lots of action,shootem-up,great fighting, and things being blown up then this movie is for you. This movie is action packed and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Have it on Blu-Ray and the picture and action were great...almost larger than life so to speak. Timothy Olyphant is excellent as agent 47. I loved him in Deadwood(on HBO) and was pleasantly surprised to see him as agent 47.He did an excellent job as the Hitman. Movie is very close to the game. Would very highly recommend it to anyone who loves action movies.

I already had a bluray copy of this movie which came originally with digital download. A great great popcorn movie (btw - not as good as "shoot em up") but still great nonetheless. Very underrated. Anyway long story short, the laptop where it was downloaded died and I found this digital HD version, I prefer loading in the cloud so i'll never lose it again. Bad news is that the DIGITAL HD is NOT the UNRATED version but theatrical one, but Paramount is reviewing - STILL a really good movie.. don't look for deeper meaning - there isn't any -- just a rollicking fun, sexy movie.
