very powerful vacuum
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in a 1 bedroom, fully carpeted apartment with a Lab/Pit bull mix who sheds year round, and I myself have long hair; my old vacuum just couldn't take it anymore. no matter how often i took it apart and cleaned it, it just wasn't doing the job. I found this Hoover vacuum on sale for under $100 and took the plunge and splurged. I am so glad I did. This vacuum has serious suction. it has adjustable floor settings-bare floor and 4 carpet settings. the bare floor and low carpet settings are insanely strong. i started out on mid level carpet (3) but switched it down to 2 just to see and it was like I deep cleaned the carpet! the attached picture shows how much the vacuum picked up in just my living room, and I had vacuumed 2 days earlier with the old one. The powerful suction makes the vacuum feel heavy but it isn't unwieldy. the power pet hair attachment is like a vacuum on steroids and I was able to pull tons of dog hair out of the pet beds and the couches. There are 2 negatives: the dirt cup empties at the bottom and the conical wind tunnel shape makes it really hard to get clumps of pet hair out without banging it against the garbage can or sticking your hand in. the hose for the hand tool is very stiff and I'm hoping it will loosen up with use.

Excellent for Pet hair.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this vacuum cause my old one wasn't doing a good job picking up the dogs hair from the carpet. It did an excellent job. Has a powerful suction. A good buy.

AMAZING Vacuum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just adopted a great pyrenees and they shed A LOT. All my old vacuum did was push the hair around on the floor so I decided it was time for a new vacuum. After looking at various vacuums I almost ended up just buying a cheap one at Wal-Mart because I didn't expect one within my price range(less than $100) would work much better than one around $50-$60. Boy was I wrong!! I decided to invest in this one with high hopes because of the great reviews that I read and it has greatly exceeded my expectations. You can actually feel the suction power as you're pushing it and it gets the long dog hair out of the carpet and off of the sofa with ease! The suction is so powerful though it is a little bit of a forearm work out maneuvering it but I don't mind! If it can maintain this level of suction throughout it's life span I will buy this particular vacuum again and again until they no longer make them. If you're even the least bit hesitant, I say go for it and try it! You will not regret it. Attached is a picture of how much stuff it got off of my living room floor in one use, AFTER first going over it with my old vacuum.

Q: QuestionWill it work on wooden floors? My house is covered in both carpet and wood so I need to know if it works well on both or it works only on carpets. And if there is any difficult switching functions.
Asked by HipsterCool.
- A:Answer My house is mostly wood floors and it does a great job on them. What carpet I do have is real short and it does okay on that. I bought it mainly for the wood. Switching is easy.

Q: QuestionDoes it have stairs attachments ?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer It's got a little hand-held beater-bar attachment, but it's not great. There's another little tool it comes with that would probably work better, but I just pick the whole vacuum up and move it stair to stair. Seems to work well, but the thing is kind of heavy.

Q: Questionempying dirt cup howI need to empty the dirt cup and can't get it out to empy
Asked by Jan.
- A:Answer The "dirt cup" is the entire clear plastic collection assembly on the vacuum cleaner. As per packaged instructions, you press the top dirt cup release button, pivot the cup, and lift the entire assembly out. Then, when holding the cup closely over a trash receptacle, open the bottom of the dirt cup by pushing the lower dirt cup door release lever. After emptying it, close the dirt cup door by pressing it firmly to secure at the front where the lever is. Then place the closed bottom of the dirt cup into the vacuum body first. Pivot the dirt cup and press frimly until it locks into place. Note: I have to run a paper-cloth- covered ruler up into and around in the collection assembly to get out all of the pet dander and hair since it won't fall out on its own. If your latching mechanism(s) is\are broken, you will have to arrange for repairs.

Asked by Vacuum Shopper.
- A:Answer Haven't had to change it..the only thing it needs is a cleaning of filter with the soap and water.very happy with purchase. I also own a Kirby and dyson.so I'd say this comes as close to those a possible for less than half the cost

Q: QuestionRotating brushCan the main rotating brush be turned off so floors will not be scuffed?
Asked by dh.
- A:Answer Hi dh, The brushroll does not shut off with this model. We have the WindTunnel 3 Pro Pet, which has the cord rewind feature and the brushroll shut off. Check it out here: http://bit.ly/1I2hL6C. Hope this helps! -- John, Hoover Customer Care

Q: QuestionI see you previously answered question that the Hoover UH70817 will pick up cat litter, but I'm concerned bcs it appears that vacuuming cat litter may have "killed" my last 2 vacuums. Won't it harm the machine?
Asked by CarolineAngel.
- A:Answer Hi CarolineAngel! Cat litter shouldn't harm the machine. However, your Hoover will require more maintenance to keep it operating properly. We recommend rinsing the primary foam filter every 2-4 uses and replacing the filters every 3-6 months depending on usage.
