Synopsis

Horrible Bosses 2
Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day return for more employee revenge in this follow-up to the 2011 comedy. Sean Anders directs from a script by Anders and Jonn Morris. Having narrowly avoided prison following the antics of the previous film, Nick (Bateman), Kurt (Sudeikis), and Dale (Day) decide to go into business for themselves. When their breakthrough product, the Shower Buddy, catches the attention of a wealthy entrepreneur named Bert Hanson (Christoph Waltz) who offers to bankroll their initial production run, the eager inventors quickly move into manufacturing. Proudly filling Hanson's initial order before the deadline, they decide to surprise their key investor with the good news, only to get a nasty surprise: A shrewd businessman with a serious lack of ethics, Hanson announces that he is cancelling the deal. With no investors to keep the business afloat, the Shower Buddy factory will soon fall into foreclosure, allowing Hanson to scoop up the product at a fraction of the original cost, change the name, and reap the profits. Indignant, Nick, Kurt, and Dale hatch a plot to kidnap Bert's son Rex (Chris Pine) for a healthy ransom, paying a visit to criminal mastermind Dean Jones (Jamie Foxx) for a few pointers on the fine art of abduction. Needless to say, nothing goes quite as planned, and as the police launch an investigation into the elaborate crime, the hapless trio must once again race to stay one step ahead of the law. Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey also star. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi

As unnecessary sequels go, Horrible Bosses 2 isn’t half bad. Once again Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis play three idiots who try to succeed in business only to get pushed around by the Man until they can’t take it any longer and plot a knuckleheaded revenge caper. In the 2011 original, the boys (let’s face it, that’s what they are) were humiliated by a trio of cartoon workplace sadists played by Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, and Jennifer Aniston, who vamped it up as a s3x-addict dentist chasing Day’s poor Dale around the rinse-and-spit machine. As payback, they planned to whack their respective superiors. It wasn’t a particularly clever movie—and it was only laugh-out-loud funny in spurts—but the three leads had an easy, fast-and-loose chemistry. Bateman’s Nick was the voice of reason, Day’s Dale was the excitable dim bulb with a voice like a hyena caught in a blender, and Sudeikis’ Kurt was the smug wiseass. A shameless rip-off of The Hangover? Sure, but these archetypes have been around since Moe first met Larry and Curly. Not surprisingly, the sequel sticks pretty much to the formula. Itching to be their own bosses, the guys invent a ”Shower Buddy,” which conveniently dispenses shampoo and conditioner directly from the showerhead. A scheming billionaire (Christoph Waltz, looking like a Viennese Geraldo Rivera) screws them over, so they decide to kidnap his spoiled son (Chris Pine) until… Honestly, the plot’s kind of beside the point. In fact, the least hilarious moments are the ones that director Sean Anders (S3x Drive) puts the most effort into, like a lame, long-winded laughing-gas bit and encore appearances by Spacey, Aniston, and Jamie Foxx, who all should have quit while they were ahead. Instead, it’s the small, tossed-off moments—Bateman’s deadpan mugging, Day’s frenzied cluelessness, and Sudeikis’ smarmy one-liners—that land the best. See what you get for trying too hard?

Not as good as the first one. This one was more formulamatic with the gags coming off slowly and more obviously. It reminded me of HANGOVER how the first one was ground-breaking and the second a shadow of that. Way more cussing that necessary -- Hollywood thinks if something isn't funny you just throw some bad language at it. This one has some laugh-outloud moments, like any time when Jennifer Aniston was on screen, but overall just a fair movie. The boys are in trouble again, this time trusting the wrong investor and deciding to kidnap his son to get even. Overall a good popcorn flick.

I really enjoyed Horrible Bosses, but was worried that the Horrible Bosses 2 would not be as funny. Luckily I was wrong, in fact, Horrible Bosses 2 was even more outrageous and crude and funny than the first movie. I liked the fact that they kept the same tone, but had all new jokes and even more great actors to add to the already hilarious cast. It was not only an entertaining and laugh out loud funny movie to watch, but it is going to be a good movie to watch over and over again to hear jokes I missed the first time because I was laughing so hard. A must own movie.

After having watched the original "Horrible Bosses", I didn't know what to expect since that movie ended with all three of the main characters overcoming their horrible bosses. This sequel, however, is about how Nick, Dale, and Kurt have become their own bosses in their own company - but get done wrong by an investor. It is then where they lead you through a path of bad decisions in order to get their company back!

I was looking forward to watching this movie, but the characters were too much over the top and stupid in order for the movie to be real/funny. Many funny parts (like the Jennifer Anniston scenes which were the best), but the scenes were not cohesive and more like vingettes put together hap-hazzardly. Good idea, bad execution. Justin Bateman does his best to save the movie, but the other 2 just wreck it.

You know how it is with movies that have sequels, when the first one is amazing it sets a precedence for the following movies. In comparison, the second one just doesn't match the comical magnitude of the first. By itself, the second HB had me laughing and I still think it's worth a look if you loved the first ... but it just didn't hit the spot for me. My husband loved it though!

I normally don't laugh. I am not a funny person. I watched this because I saw the first one and couldn't remember it but I like the actors. I couldn't stop laughing. I have a min pin and she stayed away from me. I watch my movies on a laptop with headphones so she didn't know what was going on. honestly, if I laughed all through this movie anybody will. GET THIS MOVIE!!!!
