    Synopsis

    How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Chuck Jones' animated version of the classic Dr. Seuss book How the Grinch Stole Christmas originally aired on television in 1966 and has since become a holiday family favorite. Voiced by Boris Karloff (who also narrates), the Grinch lives on top of a hill overlooking Whoville with his dog, Max. Each year at Christmas time, the Grinch's hatred grows stronger toward those insufferably cheerful Whos down in Whoville. Content to exchange presents, eat large banquets, and sing songs in the town square, the Whos live in a blissful ignorance of the Grinch's contempt. One year, he gets the idea to stop Christmas from coming by dressing up as Santa Claus. He cobbles together an outfit and makes his dog drag him around on a sleigh while sneaking into the Whos' homes and stealing their presents, food, and decorations. After he has stolen every last thing, the Whos wake up on Christmas morning to sing in the town square, causing the Grinch to question the basis of his nefarious plan. Thurl Ravenscroft (the voice of kid cereal mascot Tony the Tiger) provides the vocals for the song "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." This story was remade into a live-action movie in 2000 by director Ron Howard starring Jim Carrey as the Grinch. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi

It seems like even if you order this Deluxe Edition, you'll simply receive the standard release (single disc in a standard case with white cover art, no slipcover). I was slightly disappointed that the blu-ray jumps immediately into the film when inserted into your blu-ray player. For some reason, I've always preferred landing on a main menu first, and when this doesn't happen, it makes the blu-ray feel like a less premium experience. Picture quality looks good though, so if you are just searching for a basic Grinch disc, the price is reasonable so pick this up.

Originals are tried and true. This classic film still stands through the tests of time as a Christmas season favorite. One of my favorite movies as a kid, especially around Christmas, was How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Even though I didn't realize how SHORT this film was, I always looked forward to it coming on TV, and now I can watch it anytime that I want. My toddler daughter has already seen it a couple of times and she refers to him as 'Mean Guy'. lol If you don't own this film, buy it. If nothing else, its good for the soul by helping us remember the point of Christmas.

This movie captures the moods and feelings Dr. Seuzz' classic book imparted in me as a child, along with the Grinch song, which I love. Much better than the Ron Howard version which portrays the Grinch as a scary creature that's feared. The Grinch was originally portrayed as an ornery character that disliked Christmas and those that observed it, not a monster, and this cartoon gets it right. Also, my grandchildren loved it.

This movie or show is one of the best holiday programs that is available for viewing. It just reinforces that there is good in everyone regardless of how they may act toward others. This little 30 minute show has always been in my heart ever since I first saw it back in the 70s, when I was just a child. Hope to carry on the tradition of showing or watching this every year at Christmas with each new generation.

I was very disappointed to find that the picture on the product did not match the picture on my order. It didn't even have the cardboard sleeve. That was the purpose of me purchasing this particular item - because it was supposed to be the 50th Anniversary Edition. No where on the item I picked up was that stated. Very disappointing!

I ordered the 50th anniversary edition of How The Grinch Stole Christmas. I received a single disc version in a box that looked like someone had printed a cheap cover and slipped it in an old case. The disc worked fine and the picture was good, so I didn't bother returning it. It's fine if you just want to watch the movie, but don't expect to get what's advertised.

My granddaughter and I watch this with Jim Carey and thought it was a little much for a 2 year old. Saw this DVD on sale and thought she would like it more as it is a cartoon. Nope, she couldn’t care less. Never even looked at it. It’s old and with today’s cartoons, not appealing at all. Would not recommend buying.

This short cartoon is a great feature to watch during the holiday season. I think it could look a little better on blu-ray and would have liked a few more extras especially for the price (it seems a bit high for such a feature length, so look for it on sale if you can), but the movie itself is great, so for that reason alone it gets high marks from me.
