Q: is this computers RAM up-gradable, or is it soldered to the mother board.
A: Thank you for asking. The RAM in the HP 14-dq0761dx laptop is not soldered to the motherboard. It's upgradeable up to 8GB.
Q: I’m starting college in a couple weeks would this be good for that?
A: Yes! I've been using it for my classes and I love it
Q: How long is the battery life
A: I am in school, and the battery life is really good considering I'm going to and from classes on the laptop. There was a day that I had left my laptop charging overnight and unplugged it in the morning to do classes it lasted all day and half of the next day! Hope this helps.
A: It is. My only complaint is that it is the mousepad is a little touchy (tried to adjust but didn’t work) but otherwise a solid inexpensive option.
A: Hi Dan! The HP 14-dq0760dx has an Intel® Celeron® N4120 Processor that supports up to three displays, including the laptop's display. The USB Type-C ports do not support power supply or video. You can connect one external monitor via HDMI, and the other using a hub/adapter via USB Type-C or Type A.
Q: Does it come with spreadsheet
A: Thank you for the question. Are you asking if this model includes Microsoft Excel for creating spreadsheets? Excel is part of a suite of software now called Microsoft 365, and Microsoft has included a free 30-day trial with the HP 14-dq0760dx laptop. After the trial, you can subscribe for ongoing use.
A: Thank you for inquiring about this HP laptop! This laptop would only be able to run the Steam client and select Steam games because of the memory, processor, and operating system mode. To install run the Steam client, the computer would need to be taken out of S Mode first. Windows will take up about 2.5 out of the 4 available GB of memory. Although the Steam client has a small memory footprint, the games vary and depend on what titles you wish to play. A good laptop to consider would be one that has at least an i5 or equivalent along with at least 8GB of RAM along with an Iris, Arc, nVidia, or AMD graphics chipset. Happy gaming!
A: Drew, thank you for your follow-up question! A USB-C hub handles data and low-bandwidth peripherals like a flash drive or a mouse. The hubs are universal. You cannot connect a second monitor to this laptop, even through a hub.. The HP Pavilion, OmniBook, Envy, and Spectre series all have the USB-C ports to support multiple external displays through pre-equipped HDMI ports and USB-C or Thunderbolt docks that have HDMI or DisplayPort.

I purchased one of these “stream” laptops in the snowflake color before, and since it got returned i decided to give this upgraded version a try. I must say these little 14 inch laptops are pretty good for one who is wanting to do very basic tasks like emails, browse internet, or utilize this using less than a handful of apps at a time. I wouldnt count on this if i really needed to be productive because the ram is limited causing slow downs. For example a powerpoint with many pictures while listening to pandora and a browser window open. I do like this as a cheap throw it in my purse and take it with me to my 12 hour night shift to watch movies. Another use case of mine would be to take it with me to travel, so i can upload my photos taken from my camera and videos and then save it onto my cloud since it has an SD card reader! That is very exciting! It also has 2 usba’s and a usbc. I purchased from amazon, a charging pin adapter with female usbc so i dont have to lug the big charging brick it came with. I just bring my multipurpose usb-c charging cord. Another pro is the past model’s screens were horrid…. Like really bad and while this upgraded version still has the same specs it now has an anti-glare which is so very helpful. I can tolerate the screen without getting headaches now as opposed to the previous model. The color quality is not great so i dont recommend editing on this. Basically all this laptop can handle as it relates to my patience is simple tasks, ensuring you have a thumb drive, using cloud saves, utilizing the internet page versus the application because the storage is not much which is a factor in this computer’s speed. The keyboard is plastic and isnt as satisfying as other plastic keyboards. I do love that it has a print screen and a delete button, as those are important to me. I know im comparing a 3k macbook pro to this couple hundred laptop, but the comparison makes the color apparent. When it isnt next to it, i cant even tell. I also kept it in S mode, to ensure it stays fast and i just utilize edge browser and the only other app i downloded was icloud and thats just to ensure all my folders are in sync. And while i only save on my cloud storage, with the addition of 1 downloaded app (maybe 2 idk) it has about 60gb left. Overall i am happy woth this purchase and i recommend this to those with similar needs as mine. Another thing, the batyery life is great! It boasts 11 hours but I get about 9 full hours and ill still have a little juice left.

It's an overall decent laptop. Suitable for my needs. Good value for the price. I bought it when it was on sale. Definitely take it off of S-mode (you can Google how to do this.)
