HP - 15.6" Laptop Intel Core i3 - 8GB Memory - 256GB SSD

For typical users who mostly browse the Internet, use some lighter applications, and do not need a ton of storage, I would recommend this over any other laptop in this price range. This is a great basic laptop that does not compromise on performance. It has a good processor, fast storage, and a decent amount of RAM. Processor - The i3 processor is the absolute minimum that I recommend. It has plenty of power, but is not geared toward gaming or heavy video editing. If that is your intention, this is NOT the machine for you. It has plenty of power to open and run applications without a hitch. Storage - The NVMe storage coupled with a good processor make this machine very snappy. Boot times are extremely fast. From a cold boot, I am inside of the Operating System and everything is loaded in under 8 seconds. I am running Linux, so your mileage may vary a little bit, but you will still be happy with the results. Running a quick speed test, I am getting about 3.3 GB/sec read speed. Again, this is more than plenty for typical use. This is multitudes faster than a typical mechanical drive which are still in some higher end laptops. The storage is on the lower side at 256 GB, so if you plan on storing a ton of media (videos) on this device, I'd look at another laptop. Not much can be said about the RAM. It comes with 8GB, which is the minimum amount that I recommend. It comes with 1 DDR4-2666 module that could be upgraded to 2 modules for a slight performance boost, but should not be necessary for the majority of people. Since, my primary use for this laptop will be coding, I will upgrade to 16GB or 32GB. All in all - If you're not gaming or video editing, this is a great machine. If curious what I use this laptop for: - Coding - Web browsing - School work when I am away from a desktop Reasons for lacking 1 star: Screen and no backlit keys I didn't expect a great screen at this point. It is fine with a 1920x1080 resolution. That is still the standard. The issue is with the backlight bleed that was immediate upon turning the computer on for the first time. On my device, the are 2 hotspots at the top of the screen where you can see the white coming through. My activity bar is at the top once loaded in the Operating System, so it is not a huge deal. I do believe that, even for this price point, backlit keys could have been implemented. I never know how much I miss them until I have to work in the dark with a laptop that doesn't have them. It's not a deal breaker, and I am still happy with my purchase. All in all, this is a competent laptop that will be able to satisfy the majority of people. WIth a decent processor paired with the NVMe drive, it will also outperform many of the $1000+ computers.

I've been a MAC user for 10+ years but now I am a fan of HP. This system was so easy to set up. Switching to Windows was a short learning curve and sometimes challenging to find things but overall this laptop has excellent functionality. What I love: Super fast Great display Slim and lightweight Easy set up Works well with new keyboard, mouse and light for conference calls Lots of memory/storage I use this for my business and personal accounts. It has all the features I need. I have only wonderful things to say about this laptop. I'm still learning where everything is but I am beyond happy. An excellent choice and I have had a great experience and wonderful performance with this HP.

Horrible this labtop freezes while browsing website, while on zoom meeting and even in the middle of just editing word doc I have taken it to geek squad and no fix for it I believe it’s a manufacturer defect it’s been that way since I about it a few months ago unfortunately I had been traveling and didn’t have time to return it so now I’m just stuck with none working labtop even for basic things I wish the bestbuy salesperson was honest with me about the product quality as I literally said I need a labtop to use for lots of zoom meetings and emails probably will never step into a bestbuy again

Got this for my son for college and i would give it 5 stars if the outlet plug would fit into a 110 volt (common) outlet. Instead it looks like one of those European plugs in which now j have to search for an adapter t to charge it up

Great laptop for everyday use. It’s good for school, work and leisure home use. But the fan sound is something you can hear clearly. Could have used an Xe graphics.

Nice laptop. Works great for what I need it for- photo storage and internet browsing. Can also play some games on it. I like the fingerprint security option. Battery life is decent
