Perfect First Time 2nd Monitor for Working at Home
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Due to COVID-19 and my recent increase in workload, I decided to invest in a work-at-home work station. The first thing I researched was a second monitor, i.e., one laptop and one screen. I was debating in screen size (24" vs. 32"), and I'm thrilled I chose the 24". This monitor is a perfect size for my desk, and I believe 80% of everyday people will do fine with this size-- anything more significant would mean you are well aware and have the system to utilize all of that screen real estate. I'm a fan of the minimal and thin design, modern look with black and silver outline, and it has enough ports (HDMI & VGA) for a typical student and employee. It's bottom buttons, and menu settings are easy to navigate and feel, and the setup was straightforward. Oh, and the picture quality is impressive, especially for its price! I cannot stress how beautiful my YouTube 4k and other streaming services look on this monitor. I appreciate its blue light filter doing its job while maintaining excellent picture quality. I highly recommend this monitor for first time 2nd screen users, students, and employees who know they do not need a screen larger than 24".

Good all purpose monitor
|Posted .I've used several different styles of monitors, but this one is just about perfect for all my particular needs. It's compact, provides a crisp picture, and connects easily through HDMI. I think the feature I like the best about this monitor is its small footprint. It has a very thin bezel and a small stand so if you have a compact desk, like me, it's perfect as an external monitor. Prior to using this monitor, I had a 34-inch Ultrawide from a different company. While I enjoyed it's immense screen real estate, It was just far too large for my desk. This 24-inch beauty is ideal for me. I use this monitor for basic productivity tasks like email, word processing, spreadsheets, PPT presentations, and watching videos. It has 1080P resolution and that's perfect for this type of work in my opinion. Even though it has a lot of features, it's essentially a high-quality, basic monitor. I don't feel that gamers would enjoy it as much because it only has a 75Hz refresh rate. For the price point, I would definitely recommend this to users of all types. It does have an IPS screen and wide viewing angle, which makes it appealing even for users who do photo and video editing. The colors and brightness look great and aren't washed out. The set-up of the monitor was super easy. The stand is only two pieces and once it's assembled and attached to the monitor screen, you're ready to connect cables. I ended up connecting my laptop through a docking station and I haven't experienced any issues with connection or lag.

Nice, basic monitor.. great for coding
|Posted .I decided to try this HP IPS monitor because my previous monitor died and I needed more screen space than my laptop screen provides. My previous monitor was 28", so I was worried that I wouldn't be able to adjust to the smaller 24" HP... however, so far, I haven't really missed the extra screen space. I primarily use my laptop for coding, and this HP monitor seems to be much easier on my eyes; the preset Viewing Modes make it fairly effortless to change the color settings to reduce eye strain throughout the day. The color reproduction is also better than my old monitor, as well as the viewing angle. On my previous monitor, colors were good, but they would change quite a bit if viewing the monitor from any angle, and text was a bit blurry when not viewed from almost directly infront of the monitor. This HP monitor has much better color reproduction and as long as your eyes are in line with the middle of the screen, viewing from almost any angle appears to have no effect on color and minimal effect on text; viewing from above does alters brightness a bit, but colors are still accurate. This monitor also has FreeSync, but I can't really test it since all of my machines have NVidia cards. I have turned FreeSync on to see what would happen, and although I assume it doesn't really do anything, it also doesn't seem to cause any issues. I have also played several online games and I haven't really seen any issues with graphics tearing or motion blur, so I would think it would be fine for most gamers unless you're a hardcore FPS player. One big benefit of this monitor that I wasn't expecting, but that I'm nonetheless happy about, is the small footprint; it's extremely thin, and the way the base is designed, after I start my laptop and close it, I can slide it a good 5" underneath the monitor, which allows me to reclaim a rather large portion of my desk. Overall, I think this is a very capable, basic monitor, especially for the price.

Great Basic, Semi-Basic Monitor
|Posted .For the past year or so I've been using my 4K television for a computer monitor which has been a lot of fun. However, it made for a pretty impractical setup since I had to make many accommodations to make that type of arrangement work. I really wanted to find a good monitor so that I could move my desktop to a more dedicated area in the house. This monitor from HP fits that role very well. It has an extremely small footprint owed to the very thin bezel, small stand footprint, and ultra thin design. In reality, this monitor is actually smaller in size than a previous 21.5" monitor I had. At 1080p resolution, it's not a significant step down in resolution from my TV. I do want to stress that, for all it's features, this is a pretty basic monitor. It only allows for pitch adjustment and even that adjustment is pretty limited. It does have AMD's FreeSync ability but with a maximum refresh rate of 75 Hz, even casual gamers will want to look somewhere else if they have the budget. That said, there are a lot of excellent features. As I mentioned earlier, the bezel is extremely thin which is aesthetically pleasing as well as ideal for anyone who might want to give themselves the ability to run a multi-monitor setup. The picture quality is good out of the box and the IPS panel makes for great viewing angle accuracy and good screen uniformity. The small footprint of the stand allows for me to tuck my Logitech keyboard (albeit with the feet down to allow for more room under it) up under the monitor and out of the way when I'm not using the computer. There are plenty of picture adjustments to suit anyone's preferences. For this price point, I was pleasantly surprised by the value I felt the 24f offered. I wasn't really quite expecting to be able to get something with this suite of features at this price.

Love it
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Bought one a few months ago & a 2nd one a month ago. Several different preset color options, as well as custom. I didn't think I needed a screen this big, but now I love it and there's no going back. Picture is very clear, I use this for playing video games, editing photos, watching netflix& working on spreadsheets. Viewing angle tilts up & down, base seems sturdy, comes with HDMI Cord. I would buy this again. Only 2 Cons I found: The height is not adjustable, but then I just got 2 of these $14 stands that actually make more room on my desk, so I cant complain. These are not mountable with a different stand, there's no panel on the back, so if that's something you plan on doing it's not going to happen.

Q: QuestionIs this monitor compatible with MAC and is it appropriate for photo editing?
Asked by btwist.
- A:Answer Yes it is compatible with MAC. Im using both of mine with a 13" macbook pro. However, my text is very fuzzy and grainy. not very defined like a macs. Its very difficult on the eyes after a hour of use because im squinting to read. i have played with all the mac settings as well as the computer settings. somethings make it better such as turning down the contrast and disabling smooth text in general settings. I purchased two and theyre identical so i know i didnt get a dud. If youre like me and appreciate the crisp graphics of a mac, i would not recommend this to you.

Q: QuestionWhat is the best way to add a camera and microphone to my pc monitor? Buy and new monitor or add a camera with a mic included? Thanks, Bruce
Asked by Bruce.
- A:Answer Very few standalone monitors come with a camera and microphone. By far the easiest and cheapest way to go would be to buy an external webcam (which will include a microphone) and mount it on the top of your existing monitor.
