Very Fast & Reliable, but maybe not for photos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many, I needed to replace my Photosmart Printer, which I loved dearly. I measured the footprint of my old printer and decided that the OfficeJet Pro series would fit in the footprint, but would be taller depending upon the model that I chose. I ultimately decided upon the OfficeJet Pro 8730 instead of the 8720 because the pages per minute was faster. It is very fast. Others mentioned that it was really heavy if they had to clear a paper jam. I'm a very short female and I don't find it to be that heavy. Out of the box I set it up and could print without even installing the driver, but I installed from the disk for scanning. It prompted me to chose the online version rather than the disk, but that didn't work so well and I ended up using the disk. When I first scanned I was NOT impressed. There was a clicking noise, the bottom of the page was smeared and the quality was BAD. The clicking and smearing I solved quickly by just flicking the little plastic guides on the feeder with my finger. I contacted HP customer support via chat, gave them control of my computer and they installed HP Scan and Capture. This made the scan quality 1000% better. This printer is probably 8 or 10 inches taller than my Photosmart, but that didn't matter to me. I love that it spits the paper back in, instead of all over the floor. It is very easy to make black & white or color copies. It lets me copy double sided and change the size ratio of the copy easily. My old printer had Efax capabilities, which apparently HP doesn't include in any of their printers now. I was a little bummed that it won't fax without a dedicated line, but I literally fax twice a year and I can use a free fax from computer for that. I love that it holds a whole ream of paper and that I can load legal paper if I need to. I will mention that after you get the printer set up the screen still has a sign in function. If you try to sign in it asks for PIN and you might be baffled because you didn't set up a pin. After researching this I found the purpose is if you are using a lesser secure WPS router for wireless you can use your WPS pin from your network to sign in - instead of the way you already connected to your network. Connect wirelessly and ignore that sign on. I'm printing to my OfficeJet from 3 computers, without issue. I printed a picture from my phone and I'll say that's a little awkward and the quality is questionable. With my photosmart I could leave a few 4x6 photo sheets in the dedicated slot. With this printer you have to remove the paper, move the guides, then on the screen modify your paper type before you send the photo from you phone. When you put the paper back in you have to do the same process to modify the paper type back to 8 1/2 x 11. I don't print many pictures so I'll deal with it. I'm going to also mention that I'm trying the HP instant ink. I bought a "card" at best buy that came with 1 free month. The printer itself came with 3 free months. I set it up by using the card to "enroll" for the 300 pages per month, when I added the printer it automatically added 3 monhts and I figure that 5 months will give me time to figure out how many pages I really need. I also learned that Costco and Sam's sell cards similar to the itunes cards that let you basically prepay your HP instant ink account so that it won't ever charge your credit card monthly. The first free month arrived in a box, but I'm still using the starter cartridges that came with the printer. Also, I'll note that the HP guy told me to save the install cartridges and remove any ink from the printer in the event that I move.

easy set up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this printer because it's white! It's a really clean look and matches my computer! Anyway, it was fairly easy to set up. I had a little trouble connecting to the wi-fi for wireless printing, but managed. It wobbles a bit when it prints but I have it sitting on a small pedestal so the base doesn't sit completely on a flat surface. I haven't tried scanning or faxing..my phone line doesn't seem to work. Overall good value, good printer

A very capable multifunction inkjet printer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very capable multifunction inkjet printer. It is very fast, though somewhat noisy at the default setting. There is a ‘quiet’ setting to reduce noise but it slows the printer down. It does both duplex printing and scanning. The legal size flatbed scanner seems to be a rarity these days and is a welcome feature. The ink cartridges, which come in four different colors, can be found at discounted prices that appear reasonable for an average usage. There is one obvious drawback, the large size and weight. It is strange that these have gone up compared to older models rather than down.

So far so good...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was an easy set up for my home office. I had the HP 8600 all in one prior to this 8730. So far I have used the print, scan, copy features. It is a wireless printer and I am able to print from my laptop. The printer is faster than my last printer and I like the double side scanning capabilities. The only reason I gave it a 4 not 5 is that it is quite large and takes a lot of desk space.

Great All in One
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I reviewed several different products, but what set this printer apart for me was that it performs duplex scanning. Setup was straight forward. It does take sometime to get a print job started, but once the printer finishes loading the information, it performs well. EPrint is also very convenient. Make sure to search for promo codes as there always seems to be deals available.

Best printer I've ever owned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this printer around a year ago because the specs looked perfect for my needs. I had a little challenge getting the Wi-Fi to work, but other than that, it was basically plug and play. After my first use, I knew my life was complete! The speed of printing duplex is amazing. I would say at least 5 times faster then my old printer. The duplex scan to computer is super fast too! I liked this printer so much I recommended my church purchase the same one (which they did and LOVE it!). This printer is worth every penny!
