I've used computers of all kinds before, and never had any computers quite so fast for everyday tasks. Press the power button? On in mere seconds - faster than any other SSD based PC I've used. Open a browser? It just opens. Go to a webpage? It just opens. Want to open Krita, Scrivener, or other lighter creativity software? It opens as quickly as the application itself will allow, if it has a splash screen, and otherwise will simply open instantly. In short, for productivity, this thing is an unstoppable beast. You may need to upgrade your RAM or add a dedicated graphics cards for more intensive workloads - digital audio work, video editing, graphics rendering, etc. - but as a workstation, this thing will probably last a very long time. My personal rig (primarily a gaming PC) has high end hardware on the AM4 platform. It doesn't hold a candle to this thing's general speed, and it's not close, either. It takes longer to boot, to be ready to use after it has booted, to open just about any software. it has more RAM and it has a better graphics card, but the only thing it can really do better is gaming. This thing is truly impressive. Not to mention, this computer looks fantastic. The design of the case is modern and sleek, simple, unintrusive, yet it still draws your eye. If it used a standard motherboard layout, I'd put my gaming PC into this case. As far as the components themselves go, it's about what you'd expect from a prebuilt office PC. There are no airflow fans inside the case. No intake, no exhaust. The only moving part in the entire PC is the CPU fan (and as a result, it's practically silent. You can only hear it if it's quiet and you get particularly close to it. You'd never notice if you had any sort of noise around you or were wearing headphones). There are 2 RAM slots, and only one is occupied (with green, thin RAM, no heat spreader), so there's room to upgrade there. There is only one SSD slot, and it's hidden under the CPU fan shroud. You can upgrade it, but 1 terabyte to start is solid enough, and you'd need to reinstall an operating system to do so, so I don't think it's worth the effort for most people. There is ample room in the case for a graphics card, but the power supply doesn't have any PCI power cables you could use, so you'd be relying solely on slot power. I'd love to upgrade this thing to a gaming rig, but any graphics card I could use without changing the motherboard (proprietary power connectors) and PSU wouldn't really be enough to match the performance of the processor. One quirk about opening this computer - you need a Torx bit or flat head to do it. The side panel screw isn't a standard thumbscrew. You can't take it off without a tool. The motherboard is also secured using said torx/flat head screws. It's a bit odd. I did attempt to game on this, although not very much. I tried Dark Souls Remastered. After lowering the settings a little and turning anti-aliasing altogether, it ran at 60FPS if there wasn't too many things on screen at once. it would drop to about 50fps at its worst. It could probably emulate up to PS2 games respectably, and could play lighter games without issue, but if you're looking to play anything demanding whatsoever, this is not the computer for you. I should mention that this came with a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse. They both use the same dongle. The keyboard is nice - it's got a good heft to it, and typing on it is smooth and simple. Chiclet style keys you could find on a laptop. There's no switch to turn it on or off - it seems to just work when the PC is on. I'll mention that is has a little bit of delay when you first start typing, sometimes. Not bad enough to cause an issue, but it is noticeable. The mouse is alright. It works great, but it's not very ergonomic. The computer came with the usual software - HP software for "optimizing performance," McAffee, that kind of thing. Not a terrible amount, all simple enough to remove, but enough to warrant mentioning. All in all, I think this is a great computer that will last as a personal workstation for quite a long time. The price is a bit high for sure, but for everyday tasks and lighter productivity, you can't beat it, and it will likely remain a fast, reliable computer for years to come. If all you want is a workstation to get things done, and browse the internet, I think this is a candidate worth considering.

The HP OmniDesk Desktop AMD computer tower has been a good solution to achieve a dedicated station for my latest analog video capturing process. I did the initial startup and downloaded a couple softwares in an evening. That process took as long as I expected and once it was up and running, everything worked quickly and efficiently. I like that the set-up gave me the option to bring over all the settings from my Microsoft account like dark mode and accent color. It’s convenient that this bundle comes with the necessary AAA batteries to power the included keyboard and mouse, which are very easy to connect and start using. The available ports on the front of the tower are great for connecting my external SSD, HDD, and USB capture hardware. I somewhat regularly transfer 50+GB of JPGs, RAW files, and 2K video files, so having easily accessible USB-A / USB-C ports with 10Gbps & 5Gbps signaling data rates is ideal for transfers. The rest of the ports like HDMI, Display and additional USB ports are accessible on the back of the unit; this is where I connected the mouse USB dongle. As far as RAM and storage go, this system provides the medium and mid-range specs. The 16GB RAM is able to run heavy applications like OBS Studio, granted I’m capturing and not streaming, and I’ve even opened up Premiere Pro as OBS was running and started editing a video. I haven’t noticed any significant slow downs. When I ran Premiere Pro and OBS Studio at the same time, I heard the CPU/fan running a little harder. But that would be expected given the specs (16GB RAM) and considering I was running two moderate to heavy programs at once, meaning the CPU is working hard. This middle of the road computer is a great option for most people, especially if you’re going to use the internet, create or store documents, use it to store videos/pictures, play movies and even a little more than that like using a heavy application or two. If that sounds like your use case, the 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage is likely enough for you. I have a lot of large video /photo RAW files, etc. so 1TB isn’t enough in the long run, but I’m the type of file collector who has about 8TB of files stored externally (which is why I’m considering additional storage). If you don’t handle tons of large files, 1TB may be suitable for most people. I’m pleased so far these past few days playing around on this computer. Considering that many of the specs are not too light, not super heavy, I think it’s going to be a good experience for casual users and then some. It’s suitable enough for my video capture project and light editing, so I’m glad I have this dedicated station for it. I anticipate I’ll want or need 32GB of RAM if I want to turn this station into an A/V editing suite. RAM and additional storage are likely the most reasonable upgrades I can make to this pre-built computer. The reason I may not upgrade the GPU is because the ones I’ve looked into would require me to also upgrade the PSU. I’m currently searching for a GPU that’s compatible with the PSU on this model. The computer is working well so far, but I would love to upgrade RAM and storage eventually. I had some hiccups when I booted the computer a couple of times, but it was after specific circumstances: one was an accidental power outage, upon startup again, it just wouldn’t go past the black and white hp logo screen, so I had to stop and start booting again. The other time, the boot was taking forever, so I stopped it, unplugged all the storage and usb devices from the front of the tower, and startup was quick/successful after that. I’ve had to unplug devices for another computer that had a startup issue like that so in this instance, I knew what to do and didn’t have issues after that.

I was in need of a tower desktop and wow does this fit the bill! I decided to order the Ryzen 7 8700G model instead of Intel and it has 16GB of Ram and 1GB of SSD. Also was accompanied by a nice wireless keyboard and mouse. It weighs in at about 14 pounds so not lightweight but I like that. After opening I was impressed with all the inputs and the neat gray wood-look panel on front. Something different from any other computer tower designs I've seen. I got it set up next to my monitor and as I use 2 mixers for recording singing music videos was hoping the Ryzen chip would be compatible with the program I have. To my delight it was but before all this you plug it in of course and there will be lots of updates so allow at least 20 minutes or longer depending on your internet speed. I'm used to Windows 11 so the initial setup was very easy for me. One neat thing I noticed is there's a space between the wood paneling and the chassis where air is drawn in via the cooling fans. Keeps the heat down to a real minimum. On the front panel it comes with a USB Type-C port at 10 Gbps, one other USB Type-C at 5 Gbps, two USB Type-A ports at 10 Gbps, two more USB Type-A at 5 Gbps and a 3.5mm headset jack. On the reverse you'll find four USA 2.0 Type-A ports, ethernet input, an HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4a, plus 3 audio jacks for IN, OUT and MICROPHONE. I needed the extra ports, especially the convenience of being in the front, for my mixers and accessories. Most of my computers use 32GB but I found the speed to be more than sufficient, even with 16GB of Ram, for whatever I threw at it. This computer rocks! Played some internet films perfectly with no buffering although I do have 1GB of internet speed. It has AI included if you use that feature. I found it to be quiet which I need when recording or trying to concentrate on my work. It's very responsive for multitasking, efficient and played a few of my Xbox games very well. I definitely recommend the purchase of this HP computer. I am pleased as can be with mine from the designer looks to lots of ports and its responsiveness. A superb quality buy at a decent price!
