Love my new computer
|Posted .I bought this computer because my old one was going on 3 years old and it was really going downhill. I was unsure about buying a new computer because with my past experience with Windows 8 wasn't so good. But I'm glad I did, New computer is much faster and I've gotten more used to it now that I know where everything is. My shopping experience was great! The guy who helped me was really knowledgeable and gave me excellent pointers on buying a new computer. Will definitely be shopping here again. Thanks Best Buy!!

Good laptop for the price
|Posted .I was looking for a laptop that was affordable , but would also fit my needs. I needed a computer for doing school work as well as function as a work computer for days I decided to work at home or was on the road. This fit the bill. I like that it has touch screen and the number pad to the right of the keyboard is a big help with work. The size of the screen is great, and the picture is clean and sharp. Overall, HP has a solid product at a great price.

Touch Screen is wonderful
|Posted .I'm so pleased with my HP. I like being able to switch between the mouse and the touch screen. I'm able to keep all my photos and documents - lots of disc space. The price was great too.

Great computer for the price
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI use my phone for everything from paying bill, to shopping online, to using Skype. I started thinking it was time to invest in a laptop just so it would be easier for me and I would be able to see things on a bigger screen. I went to my local Best Buy and the guy that was around helping people recommended me this laptop. He told me that he had owned one of these himself and it had worked great for him. He also asked me what I would use it for and I told him just for the basic, simple things. It came in a bundle with a computer sleeve protector thing, a memory card, free anti virus, and a computer screen cleaner. I have had the laptop for almost a month now, and I will have to admit I like it a lot so far. It gets the job done, it's very quick and simple to use, so I am indeed happy with my purchase. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that it has apps like tablets and phones do, I feel like a computer should be different and apps should just stay with tables and phones. Leave laptops out of it. Also, the whole new windows thing that they did it's a big no no, it's a bit confusing in the beginning to get used to this when you haven't maneuvered it on a computer but I promise it gets easier! Also, I LOVE the touch screen, it makes it easier to scroll. Sometimes I don't use the mouse because I would rather use the screen to scroll... Overall, I feel like I did a great purchase. HP products never disappoint me! This is a great lap top for basic use!

Issues
|Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendIt's my first time using a Windows 8 machine BUT I am used to using Microsoft. It's very frustrating using a new machine which is not the issue. The issue is that things happen that I have no control over. For example, green screens on videos; the computer suddenly turning off because of some weird error; and a freezing monitor like the not so smart phones ugh :( This is a new machine and shouldn't have all these issues :( if I had a do over, I would have paid a little more instead of for the convenience of buying a packaged kit, containing a computer sleeve, USB, Internet Protection for a year, and monitor cleaner. All this is good but a new computer shouldn't have to be fixed already :(

Inexpensive and proves why
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendPurchased as a replacement for an entry level Acer with Windows 7 that was getting overloaded because of small hard drive capacity. This is my first Windows 8.1 operating system and I like the 7 better. I'm trying to give 8 it's fair shake, but so far it's a pain. The issues I have with this and it's not HP's fault (at least it doesn't appear to be) is streaming video green screen. The audio plays, but the video itself is green. Doesn't matter where I stream from, Netflix, Facebook, news sites, Amazon, it did the same green screen issue. I contacted HP about the issue and while the man said it was a Microsoft issue, he took the time to remote resolve the issue...an hour and a half! The next automatic update to Windows completely reverted the problem back to the original issue, so I needed to go to System Restore and eliminate the latest "critical update" to resolve the problem. I then contacted Microsoft and a guy kept trying to give me partial resolution by having automatic updates turned off and I would manually check and install them. What about these so called "critical updates"? Would my Windows be at risk if they don't get installed? He eventually dove in an remote looked at the laptop, made a bunch of changes, but once the restart happened, I lost him and no idea what he really did. I installed Google Chrome and haven't had the issue with it, but when the next update is applied, who knows. Maybe it's Internet Explorer that is the problem. Mouse sensitivity on the pad is suspect, too. Sometimes it will recognize my finger, other times no. Then it wants to pull the margin from the right side of the screen that hides when you are in desktop mode and tried to take you back to a Windows 8 screen no matter where the pointer is on the screen . Frustrating. Other than that, browsing ok, does what it's suppose to do. I'll recommend based on price and features, just hope you don't have the video issues..

Really nice laptop for the money
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIn my opinion, this is a very nice machine. It has a nice sized screen with very good definition. It's very compact and much lighter than my older laptops. The ports are all on the sides so they are very easy to get to and there are four USB ports. The keyboard has a nice touch and I love working with the touch screen. Another nice feature is that if you plug in a USB transmitter for a wireless mouse, the touch pad automatically disables itself. This feature can be controlled in the Control Center. However, there are a few things that I wish I would have considered when I purchased my machine. First, it has a DVD player rather than a Blu-ray. With a high definition screen a Blu-ray player only seems natural. The laptop does have a built-in camera and microphone, but I don't think the quality of the camera is as good as some that I've seen. I should also mention that this laptop streams video beautifully. I haven't had this laptop very long, but I have used it quite a bit in the time that I've had it. Overall it's a pretty good unit for the cost.

Can't beat the quality for the price.
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendYou can't beat this kind of quality for the price! I paid about $330 after tax (used 10% off movers coupon). After researching and comparing several different laptops, I settled on this one (happily). Few laptops in this price range offer an AMD A8 processor and touch screen. The touch screen is very responsive and smooth to the touch, Colors are vibrant (after tweaking settings). Sound quality is surprisingly good (for a laptop). The only cons is that it comes with just 4GB of ram (6 would be better), but it's plenty for me. You can probably play most games with average settings. I use this mainly for work projects, school, and casual activities like e-mail, internet browsing and youtube. The texture of the keyboard takes some getting used to, but it's great at repelling smudges. For some reason my wifi gets disconnected every so often and it doesn't happpen with any of my other devices, so I'm thinking the built in wifi adapter may be kinda shoddy, only time will tell if this is an actual issue with the laptop itself. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Q: QuestionHow long does the battery last before needing a charge?
Asked by Fred.
- A:Answer Unfortunately, exact battery run time and life span information is not available. Various factors, such as the temperature of the battery, the applications running on the notebook, any attached devices, the brightness of the display, and the notebook power management settings all determine the run time and life span of your battery. Also, the performance and charge times of Lithium-ion batteries decrease over time. There are suggested ways to help increase the run time and life span of your battery: - Reduce the brightness of the screen to the minimum readable level - Remove peripherals (External hard drives, CD-ROMs, Zip drives, PC cards, and other peripheral devices) when not in use; these devices can draw power from your battery even when they are not in active use - Reduce the speed of your processor - Turn off the Wireless On-Off button when it is not in use (If your notebook has one)
