For the price, you can't loose!

horrible!!
Posted .I don't know if I had a lemon but every time I tried to open a web page or even tried to a simple word document the computer would freeze. the first time I tried booting it up it started with the menu of repairing C Drive. it went okay for about a day or two before I started having issues. the last time it booted up it had a whole bunch of numbers and different characters where the text supposed to tell you the name of the programs.
No, I would not recommend this to a friendRating 5 out of 5 stars with 1 review
Great PC so far
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is a great PC. I've been wanting something for my casual gaming tendencies (Skyrim/Portal/Steam games) and I think the specifications are a little above what I actually needed. I've had a laptop for 5 years and this is my first PC after it. My only complaint is the Wireless card (which can of course be changed, I'm sure). With my laptop in my room, and the router in the living room, I had no problems (4-5 bars). With the desktop however, I had 1-2 bars so the internet was slow. I'm not too PC saavy so I just grabbed a long ethernet cable and plugged the desktop in. Works great now. No complaints so far. First time using Windows 8.1 (Windows is giving the free upgrade which took some time to download) so it takes some getting used to.

Versatile Computer great for average user
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this for my brother who is constantly killing his laptops by over heating them or just some how breaking them. price and features are a real eye candy and because its modifiable, it makes it all the more better. 2TB of storage and 8GB of ram? he is set for his games!! Included keyboard and mouse are definitely a nice touch'! HP knows what they are doing its funny because as I was looking at this, a cute girl who's boyfriend is similar to my brother was also eyeing this

Good value, same big brand non-sense
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWhen I went in the store I had a PC that was dying and needed a good reliable replacement, preferably with dual monitor support. This PC had that, with a fast quad-core processor. Initially I was hesitant about purchasing an AMD processor because I have always had Intel processors, but to my delight this PC delivers a fast, reliable processor for all of my apps, including the full Microsoft Office Suite--which opens lightening fast. As with all big-brand PCs, they deliver too much unnecessary software that I had to strip out to reduce clutter. I would also prefer if they had reduced the price by $15 and not provided keyboard and mouse since I use other devices I prefer.

It works.
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis replaced an Asus I bought that failed after 3 days, and I'm pretty happy with it. The only problem I had was I installed a graphics card to get HDMI output, and plug-and-play didn't work. Called my son and he figured out that the latest BIOS (8 something) wouldn't work with older peripherals because of a security thing. I had to go in and change that. It was a hassle, but now it works. Oh, and I didn't care for the keyboard, but I had a spare one floating around and plugged it in.

With 8GB of RAM and 2TB, you have plenty of speed and space to do all types of computer tasks, from browsing, emails, and video streaming. The computer can also be used for moderate gaming, and even has room for expansion so that you can use it for a long time.

Great tower computer for my office
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI purchased this PC for my office to use MS Word/ Excel/Power-point, work with emails and watch videos on you-tube. I was mostly concerned about noise (as I'm very noise sensitive), and boot-up time. I'm a therapist/holistic practitioner and needed a computer to be in the background (off or quiet) as I'm working with clients, and that would also come online quickly if I needed to look something up in the middle of a session. The tech support gentleman at Best Buy suggested I upgrade to a solid state hard disc (which I did - Intel 530 Series 204GB Internal SATA solid state drive - model # BBSSDSC240A4KS). Together, the Gateway PC (i5) and the solid state drive, the system is EXTREMELY FAST. In fact, for my needs this is probably overkill - but I wanted a computer that I could invest in and use in years to come and I'm pretty happy with my purchase. Also, the computer and ss drive together are AMAZINGLY QUIET. This is a huge relief given my sensitivity. I'm really pleased. My only challenge is I'm still trying to learn Windows 8. I can do everything I need to with no problem... but I'm still figuring out nuances. One of the Best Buy tech support guys gave me a demo when I first purchased the computer (I had bought tech support) and I have gone back to Best Buy once to ask a sales rep there questions about it... and I have watched online videos about how to use Windows 8 and downloaded the Gateway user's manual. I'm mostly there now but... it's taken some effort. I suspect I'm not as intuitive re user interfaces as other users. I don't dislike it. It's just different and takes some getting used to.

Q: QuestionWhere do I find memory for this model on BestBuy to upgrade the RAM?Other than the is 8 GB and the DDR3 SD RAM spec as purchased; what are the configuration options for the installed RAM (open slots, size of installed RAM modules)? What can I add or replace on the BesyBuy site for this HP desktop? Item #s for RAM?
Asked by Bill H.
- A:Answer The system has a total of 4 memory slots. It currently has a 8gb memory stick. The memory is upgradable to 32gb's with the 64 bit Windows 8 operating system. It has 3 open PCIe 1x slots and 1 PCIe 16x slot for upgrading the hardware. There are 3 types of memory that can be added. PC3-10600, 12800, 14400. You can find out all kinds of information on the HP website under the specifications for this model. I just purchased this system and just added a Creative SoundBlaster Z sound card that I also purchased from Best Buy. The graphics seem to be good on this system so I probably won't need to purchase a new graphics card but could do so if I wanted to with the available PCIe 16x slot. Check out the HP website for all the information that you want.
