Verry good laptop from HPPosted .
First of all im not a tech wizz. But i do know what i like which is performance and good quality. And i think this laptop delivers it. I bought this laptop because its not big compare to the 17in, i like my laptops in a medium size which are easy to carry around which is the meaning of the word laptop. I like it because it has the fingerprint reader, inter core i5, and the webcam. The battery does last about 3-4 hours even shorter when watching a dvd movie. But overall Its a good product. If you want to listen music in your room with this laptop i recommend buying speakers for it. i bought the logitech z313 speakers which sounds great. Thanks for reading. One more thing if you buy just the laptop with the one year anti-virus it came out $1,011.34 for me. just giving you a heads up.I would recommend this to a friend

Overall good productPosted .
Got this product for amount of ram and speed. As I do a lot of photos and cards. Speed is great no problems starting up or even getting online. .display is very clear Type I had to enlarge as its very tiny for me.and thats when I have problem with reading. The only thing I dont care for is the screen size. 14" is not really good size for me. It doesnt seem to show all and scrolling up / down to read mail or reard internet is a pain. I would go back to at least 15.5 or higher. This is a great product if you just want to use it to travel or just need to do email and light stuff on it.No, I would not recommend this to a friend

6 weeks in display went bad!!!Posted .
We went with HP because our NC6000 is still going strong after 6 years!! Needless to say their QC is gone under since then. Best Buy return policy is 14 days. After that you must deal with HP. And of course they have no service center that you can bring it to. I wanted a replacement, not a repair. After all my fear is that this is now a "lemon" and we're going to have to deal future repairs ala DELL. Not to mention shipping the product takes over a week (HP said 7-9 days) to get it back!!No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great general-purpose laptopPosted .
I bought this laptop a few weeks ago and am delighted with it. I was looking for a general purpose laptop (email, browsing, etc) but plan to do some gaming and other (development) activities. I am by trade and hobby a computer geek and so I did much research before deciding on this purchase. I was really looking for good performance, long battery, and durability. The Core i5 processor gives me plenty of horsepower AND great power efficiency. I can't believe this thing will run for 5+ hours with regular usage, but it does! One of my "tests" for durability is to gently press on the back of the screen to see if I get dimpling on the LCD. This passed with flying colors. Additionally, I try to flex the system while closed to see how much give it has. This is one solid laptop. Even the hinges are heavy duty. The only part that really feels flimsy is the DVD-RW. I don't use this much, so I don't anticipate this being a major deal. The over-all look and feel is sleek and stylish with rounded corners and recessed keyboard area. I thought that I would have a problem with fingerprints and smudges on the metallic case, but I am happy to report very little issue with this. My only complaint about the case is that the edges are a bit sharp where the metal exterior meets the screen on top. Nothing dangerous, mind you, just seems like it could have been refined a little better. There are minimal buttons and clutter on the keyboard making working on it very easy. I was not looking forward to the chicklet-style keyboard, but I have gotten used to it after using it extensively. I do like that the Del/Home/PGUP/PGDN/END keys are conveniently located on the far right-side of the keyboard as I use those often. A few things I don't like about the keyboard are the "F" keys (F1-F12) are accessed by using the Fn key. I have gotten used to using these (especially F5) and it is kind of a pain to remember to do that. By default the Function keys are used for media control, wifi, contrast, etc. The touchpad is very repsonsive and I find it easy to use. I am used to using the little "nub" on other laptops, so this is an adjustment for me. Instead of scrolling on the side of the touchpad like many systems, this one uses 2-point touch to scroll horizontally and vertically. It isn't flawless, but works pretty well. I also love the fact that you disable the pad by double-tapping the top left corner. From a connectivity perspective, I find the lack of USB ports disappointing. I would love to have seen at least 4 USB ports, instead of just the 2. While I don't have many devices to plug in, I can see exhausting those quickly with a camera, external mouse, cell phone, etc. It also lacks a DVI connection and the ability to use a docking port. It really wasn't designed to be used in this manner, apparently. There are HDMI and DSUB-15(VGA) ports, presumably to hook up to a TV/entertainment system or a projector. Historically I have found the main components that break or go out on a laptop are the backlight and the lid-latch. Because this laptop has an LED backlight, it should be a lot less prone to going bad. This also consumes far less power than a traditional tube backlight. It also has no lid latch, but stays closed and secure without it. All-in-all I am very impressed with this system. Because of its durability and power (and it can go up to 8GB RAM) I anticipate this one having a long, useful life. I would definitely recommend this system as long as you don't need a lot of peripherals or type ability to dock it. --- One Happy Geek P.S. It is NOT pink. More of a rose-copper color. My wife calls it taupe.I would recommend this to a friend

Everything I needed and morePosted .
I am going back to school for a Master's Degree and I needed something very light, portable and up to date. On top of those requirements I didn't want to sacrifice performance or pay a ton. I researched nearly every laptop that Best Buy had to offer and narrowed it down to a couple of HPs (this one and the dv4-2165dx), a Dell (I14R-2265MRB) and a Toshiba (E205-S1904). All were comparatively priced and all were 5.5lbs or less and had battery life of 5.25 hours or more. I decided on this dm4-1065dx for several reasons. First of all I like the HP name and it's a brand I have trusted for computers for over a decade. The Toshiba was a little more expensive for the same features so I ruled that one out and the Dell turned me off by one bad review I read on another site and the fact it was rated with the least battery life of the 4 models I was considering. I decided between the two HP models on two major factors. The 12-cell battery on the HP dv4-2165dx sticks out a couple of inches from the bottom of the laptop which was a turn off for me and the i5 processor in this dm4-1065dx is superior for both performance and reduced power consumption making it both operate better and use less battery. This laptop is light, skinny and stylish and it will be able to handle any graphics or computing that I throw at it. The fingerprint reader is a cool little feature I didn't care about but I love that I have. I did all the research and this model was definitely the laptop for me. Hope this review helps you decide as well.I would recommend this to a friend

Great laptop that exceeds price expectations.Posted .
I just picked up this laptop today and I must say I absolutely love it!!! I'm not going to lie, the first thing that attracted me to this laptop was the look. It wasn't so box looking like the toshiba I was considering and it isn't as out there as the pink Sony Vaio I was considering. It fit right in the middle (the laptop is not pink it has more of a silver thing going). To my surprise as I read its description it wasn't only pretty, but a great laptop! I never got to see the laptop in person before i bought so i put my trust in the reviews (on this site and others) and by reading those I found out that it was light weight, quiet, and didn't over heat which made me really excited since my old laptop was opposite of all that. Finally, when I picked up the laptop today it exceeded all of my expectations. It is super fast, easy to use, and the fingerprint identification thing is soooo cool and convenient!! Along with the extra features and affects on the webcam that you could use while talking to someone on any video chat site (which you cant do with macbooks) and its nice to look at this laptop was definitely worth more (at least to me) then the 800 dollar price tag. There are maybe 3 things that I myself would of liked to be different, but should definitely not be deal breakers. For some reason I'm having difficulty adjusting to the touch pad, i don't really like having to scroll down with 2 fingers (I'm not sure if you can change that, but I've definitely been trying) and its weird having the left and right click be apart of the touch pad (i'm use to having it separate), but I feel like I'll get use to this. Also, I read in other reviews that the speakers aren't very loud and I'm pretty sure its because the speakers are located underneath the laptop which again i find kind of weird, but it wont be hard to get use to it. Lastly, the fingerprint recognition for opening up websites that require a password only opens (you scan a certain finger's fingerprint to open a website like facebook with your username and password already saved) with internet explorer and firefox which isn't a big deal, but I like working with google chrome. As far as right now, I am amazed by this computer!!! It is definitely more than I expected in a good way, when it comes to graphics, speed, coolness, and look. On a side note I was on skype with my cousin who just bought a 1200 dollar macbook pro and she got jealous of all the cool things I can do with my webcam :)I would recommend this to a friend

Amazing LaptopPosted .
This is a great laptop, and that is a lot for me to say because my family is very technology-centered, and our careers revolve around computers. For the price, you cannot beat this laptop, and even so, I think it is just as good as some of the $1,000 laptops. I bought this for my daughter. First of all, this thing looks amazing. It's very sleek, and I love the way it looks, and so does my daughter. The display looks very good as well, and I like how it's not a finger-print magnet (the screen and laptop). The finger-print scanner is a nice bonus as well. Most importantly, the laptop works phenomenally. It's fast, it can run multiple things at once, and it never lags. It can run 3D games without a problem, and we haven't had any problems with connectivity. Maybe the best thing is how great the battery life is. I tested it myself, and I get between 6-7 hours of usage. I just wish the speakers were a bit louder, but other than that, this laptop is a steal for the price.I would recommend this to a friend

Great, Practical ComputerPosted .
To start off, I'll say that in my opinion, this laptop isn't pink. To me, it's more of a muted copper color. The computer is very light and easy to carry. Very portable. I love the speed and the storage space, as well. The battery life is great too! The screen may be a little small for some people, but it suits me well. (I'm using this laptop mainly for college) The webcam is pretty good, but I would recommend buying another one. The one that comes with the laptop is a 1.3MP. I bought another 1.3MP webcam and the video quality is better than with just the built in webcam. The overall look of this laptop is very nice and sleek. They keys are like little chicklets. There are no directions that come with the laptop, but it's pretty simple to operate. The first time you power on the laptop, it takes you through registration & anti-virus step by step. The boot-up time is pretty quick as well.I would recommend this to a friend

- A:Answer The HP Pavilion dm4-1065dx Notebook PC does not have built-in Bluetooth connectivity. You would need to add a third-party external USB Bluetooth adapter. However, please remember that since HP does not test or support third-party products we cannot guarantee compatibility. The only difference between this notebook and the dm4-1060us model is the exclusion of Bluetooth, which is included on the dm4-1060us notebook PC.
