The moment I turned on the laptop, I was amazed by the speed. Its very responsive. However, the screen began to become scrambled and the WiFi adapter kept losing signal over multiple times. In order to be sure that it wasn't the WiFi at the house. I took it to Dunkin Donuts down the road and a friend's house, I had the same results. So I decided that maybe the drivers needed to be updated which cleared up all of my graphic and wireless problems immediately. But there was one more issue. The battery. I bought this laptop because HP and many tech reviewers said that this product could get up to 12.5 hours. As a college student on the go, I need the extra battery life so I bought it. The next morning after receiving it, I turned on my laptop and noticed that the battery lost 14% of its charge after 30 minutes of just sitting on idle. It went on to last 3 1/2 hours after web surfing use. I didn't think anything of it because I didn't fully charge it. But after a full charge, it only lasted 4 hours from me just watching YouTube videos and surfing the web with a maximum of 5 tabs open on Google Chrome. I was shocked! I went to Google and found that under HP forums there were a slew of other customers that had the same issue with the HP Spectre x360's battery. I saw numbers from mainly being 4 but there were 5 and 6 hours as well. I also noticed that under other website reviews, others have had the same issue. Especially with the "Calculating" label that doesn't show how long the battery has left before dying. This to me seems like HP is attempting to hide how long the battery will REALLY last. I spoke to a HP customer service manage a few days later. He was more focused on whether the laptop works or not. I knew just from that initial question when I explained to him about everything that has been going on that he had no solution nor answer for this poor battery life. He went on to say that most laptops only get about 4-5 hours of battery life during moderate use. I agreed to some extent however if a company is boasting an up to 12.5 hours. I'd expect to get between 7-10 hours. He had no answer to my response but me being within the 15 day refund period to return the laptop. I also explained to him that the bottom of the laptop runs really hot. I told him also that I tried updating the BIOS to help it from getting so hot but I can't update it because HP installed a customized update. He pretty much said if the laptop is not cutting off from overheating then its fine. I just left it at that. I'm on the edge of returning this laptop before the refund period ends tomorrow because its a really good laptop and has grown on me. However, in the end, I feel lied to greatly. I'm leaning towards getting my money back in exchange for one of the other two laptops I was viewing before purchasing this HP Spectre. If this battery issue doesn't bother you, I'd say go for it, however, update your drivers through the HP website. But if you're expecting more, you'll be disappointed.
