This is by far the best laptop I've ever owned.
|Posted .It's super fast - I never knew how nice it would be to have it boot up and be on email in under 10 seconds. And the facial recognition entry works well and is a real convenience, as is the touchscreen. Also quite sturdy - like an Apple. The only defect is that when you click on something it doesn't always take. and since this happens a fair bit it is very annoying, though is more than offset by the positives. The touchscreen feature is helpful in getting the cursor to where you want it to be.

Versatile laptop/tablet
|Posted .This convertible replaces one that was stolen so I'm really reviewing the convertible but now with the "cool" pen. It is lightweight and extremely portable. You might want a CD/DVD writer. I also got a USB hub since there is only one. A BT mouse is a cheap investment ($20) while you adapt to the pen. It is fast and you can use it like a tablet, a screen for viewing videos in the tent configuration or a "regular" laptop. Battery life is OK for my purposes... more than 12 hours. Great product, highly recommended.

Perfect upgrade
|Posted .I purchased this laptop for its lightweight portability and great features. It’s ultra slim and the 2-in-1 makes it’s easy to go from laptop mode to tablet. The pen is also nice even though I don’t use it much I still love how smooth it writes. The speakers are amazing compared to my other hp pavilion. The only con is I wish it had two usb-a ports and hdmi which comes on the bigger model but not this one.

|Posted .The laptop's screen resolution is high but the battery life is not that powerful

Bad keyboard layout, jumping cursor issues
Posted .Pros: Fantastic keyboard tactile feel Great display colors Great touchpad surface/texture Loud speakers Pen support Touch screen Very fast internal m.2 storage Cons: Bad keyboard design Glossy screen - although this comes with any device that offers pen/touch support Touchpad suffers from the "jumping cursor/mouse" issue that plagues the HP forums First impressions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr973Qz_1CY Mouse issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYRJ3erCem4

Fantastic 2-in-1 at a fantastic price!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've been looking for a solidly built 2-in-1 with active stylus support, a full blown (non-Y-series) Kaby Lake i7 processor, 16GB RAM, FHD screen, with Thunderbolt 3 support to use with my Dell TB16 dock. I've found it with the x360, what a machine! Pros: -FAST- Kaby Lake i7 7500, and includes the Samsung NVMe SM961 SSD, one of the best! This thing flies! -Ports/ThunderBolt 3- USB-C port/ThunderBolt 3 port, plus a USB 3.0 port as well. My Dell TB16 ThunderBolt dock works perfectly with this machine, charging the laptop, running all my peripherals and monitors on one single cable. The Intel 620 graphics runs the laptop screen, an external 4K and external FHD monitor perfectly. -Build- Fantastic build quality, great looking too. All aluminum, no flex, solid as a rock. The chrome HP logo on the back of the screen looks classy! -Touchpad / Keyboard / pen- Touchpad is incredibly responsive and customizable via the Synaptics control center/control panel. Keyboard is a joy to type on ... almost feels like a mechanical(?) with excellent travel. The x360 uses the N-Trig digitizer as well, meaning you can use the new(er) Surface Pen as well with customizable eraser / top clicker. -Webcam- Above the screen, great image quality. Windows Hello enabled! I look at my computer to log in. It's that simple. -Price- Wow. This is a lot of high quality computer for very little $$$ ... AND it comes with an active pen and very nice sleeve case! -Battery- It gets me through a full day of meetings with plenty of life left. I would guess around 12-13 hours with light to moderate usage, but hard to say as I haven't come close to running it down yet. -Power to weight ratio- This is a LOT of computer in a very small space! Cons: -Screen- FHD screen has some uneven backlighting, mostly noticeable at the top edge of the screen. The display is very slightly darker at the top 5-10mm all the way across. Friends/family do not notice it, most people probably wouldn't notice it. I'm very picky with screens. -Pre-loaded software- A TON of HP branded software/help/support stuff installed by default ... didn't seem too intrusive, but still... there was a lot, I uninstalled most of it, as I don't need the support stuff and don't want to have to worry about keeping installed software I don't use up to date and secure. I check regularly for driver/firmware updates from both HP and Windows/Microsoft. The cons weren't enough for me to knock a star off. This is a winner of a machine, and there are no 2-in-1s out right now that can even come close to these specs in the 13" form factor at this price. If you're looking for a nearly perfect 2-in-1 laptop, this is it! The 4K version looks great too, but wanted a little extra battery life so decided on the FHD version.

Fantastic
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendReally could not be happier with this laptop. I'm another recent convert from a decade of using Apple computers and there's just no comparison in the value between the two companies in 2017. I tried a PC right after Windows 10 was released and returned it because of how buggy the operating system was. I can't believe how much better it is now and on this machine. This thing runs like a champ, the keyboard is terrific, the touch screen IS useful and vastly quicker than using any touchpad (or touch bar) for things like scrolling through emails and web pages, and I've enjoyed the flexibility offered by the 2 in 1 form. Sure, it's heavy as a tablet but that's missing the point, which is that the machine and software work extremely well in all modes and gives you a great option whenever you might want it. There's no compromises with this laptop! The pen is a great little addition and HP even threw in a wonderful sleeve that has a holder for the pen right under the flap. I looked at the 15 inch, but despite seeming like a great machine in its own right, this size suits me better and the price can't be beat. Great feeling and looking laptop. Fan noise and heat are on par with the MacBook Air I owned and now no longer miss. Great purchase. No regrets.
Q: QuestionWhy don't we get HP Spectre Leather Sleeve with this laptop? It is included inside the box in HP's website..
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Even though it is not listed in the specs, I just purchased one and the leather sleeve was included in the box.

Q: QuestionCan anyone comment on fan noise? Thanks!
Asked by AG.
- A:Answer Has a significant amount of fan noise at high CPU load, but most of the time it runs quietly. If you want ultra quiet and don't mind the performance trade off, look at the new Dell XPS 13 inch 2 in1. Has fanless m type i7 processor, but this Spectre i7 outperforms it in almost all test. PS I love this Spectre x360, worth the $$$.

Q: Questioni got these laptop..and everything is good except the battery life..i got like 3-4hr only on normal use like youtubing..watching video..guys is these normal??
Asked by pele.
- A:Answer That is about what I'm seeing too. I've tested several laptops recently, including the Dell XPS 2in1 i7y 16gb 256gb, the Lenovo Yoga 910 i7 16gb 512gb, the Lenovo 720 i7 8gb 256gb, and the HP Spectre x360 i7 16gb 512gb. All of these computers have about the same size battery, except for the Lenovo 720 which is smaller. They all have pretty similar hardware except the Dell, which has the throttled fanless processor. With Windows, any browsers in Windows, a touchscreen, and the video/processor/wifi demands of showing and streaming video, I think this is all we can get out of a Windows laptop right now. I have not yet tested a Mac, but I'm curious if the hardware/software integration is better. If you really want great battery life from Windows, then you have to sacrifice the amazing portability and form factor of these near tablet size computers and go for something like the Lenovo T470 with similar hardware, but which has multiple, and larger, batteries.

Q: QuestionDoes this laptop come with international warranty or just US local warranty? The other question for those who bought it already, can you please tell us about the fan noise in this laptop is it noisy or quit? Thanks
Asked by Abdul.
- A:Answer Very quiet and thin. Only 1 USB is 1 problem

Q: QuestionDoes this model come with an ethernet port?
Asked by Student.
- A:Answer No. This model has one USB 3.0 and two USB Type C (USB-C). You can purchase separately a USB to Ethernet adapter if you require an Ethernet port.

Q: QuestionI need it to use solidworks, mathcad, mathlab, solidworks, ansys and similar programs. Do you guys think this laptop will work ?
Asked by Constanza.
- A:Answer This can be a bit tricky. MATLAB, MathCAD, and similar programs should run no problem. Solidworks might have some issues, mostly because that usually requires a bit more power in terms of graphics processing. However, if you don't mind some lag on larger projects with (a few seconds at worst usually) Solidworks you can definitely run it without much issue. Definitely expect the fans to be running the whole time, expect some heat, and expect the battery life to drain quite a bit more quickly with Solidworks. However, if you have this set up at a desk, charger hooked up, and maybe even a cooling pad, this can handle all you need just fine. I personally run MATLAB often on the Spectre with no performance issues, and run FPGA simulations that run without much lag at all. If you are constantly working on large projects, or plan on using more CAD programs I would consider something with a dedicated GPU and/or a 45 Watt processor, such as the Dell XPS 15 or Lenovo Thinkpad P-series. Both the Spectre and the Dell XPS 15 can handle these programs without much issue, but the XPS will run CAD software noticeably faster.

Q: QuestionIt says online that this laptop has a 15.25 hour battery life. Have people found this to be true? If so, are you using specific settings?
Asked by Sue.
- A:Answer I have not tested it in detail, but I used it at an 8+ hour long conference recently (had it on the entire time, using Outlook, Word and Chrome) and I still had more than 50% power at the end of the day.

Q: QuestionDoes it come with a pen? What version would you have chosen if ypu had the choice to do it again, the 4k one or this same one?
Asked by billy.
- A:Answer Yes, it comes with a pen. I can't imagine ever actually using it, but I tried it and it works well. I was concerned that the HD version would be noticeably less sharp than the 4K, but in actual use you won't tell the difference. Also, this should have better battery life than the 4K version due to less pixels being rendered. I would happily buy this version again. It's a good laptop. The 2-in-1 thing is kind of a gimmick, I think, but it has all of the other features I wanted in a laptop.
