Best laptop I've ever had
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive had this laptop now for 3 weeks. Overall incredibly happy. My wife and family ask to constantly use it and everyone thinks it is a Mac. Pros: 1. Beautiful QHD screen. Colors are accurate, displays great on my 4K sony TV. Has good brightness and the text is incredibly clear. I notice the text when I'm making a powerpoint or document. 2. Touchscreen - Ive never had a touchscreen computer and didn't know if I would use it, but I do alot. Works great with windows 8.1. 3. Incredibly fast on all front. From load time to shut down, to loading applications. 4. SSD and USB 3.0 work great and I know see how important these features are as ive never had them on previous laptops. 5. The keyboard is outstanding. Great spacing and feedback with every click. Great for small and large hands due to layout and individual keys. 6. Great connectivity with 3 USB, full HDMI, microdisplay, memory slot. 7. Speakers work great, clear and load. Cons: 1. First 1-2 weeks the computer ran hot close to the fan. However this past week, has improved greatly and im guessing was just a break in phase. 2. The mouse pad is large. I like it as the guestures are even better due to the large area to use. However occasionally the double touch tap to click an item doesn't register. no big deal but noticable. 3. The fan noise again was on the louder side the first 2 weeks when the computer ran hot, however much better this week. 4. Kind of heavy to run in full tablet mode. Overall amazing computer and I feel is the closest thing to a Mac, except with windows.

Great design and build, brilliant screen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After thorough research into buying a new laptop, I finally decided on this one. I had it narrowed down to the 13 inch MacBook Air, 13 inch Macbook pro, Dell XPS 13, and this one. I chose the spectre because of my allegiance to Windows, I got much more powerful internals (and a beautiful screen) for less money, and a couple things turned me off from the XPS such as the awful webcam placement and lack of an HDMI output. Pros: The spectre x360 is a beautiful machine. I love this model's QHD display, and especially love that it has the option for use with an active stylus. The build quality is incredible and very comparable to a macbook. The hinges are sturdy and it feels just like what you paid for. I love typing on the keyboard, there is a lot of key travel and the metal keys just feel very high quality. While I was intimidated at first, the excessively large trackpad is actually a nice touch. The palm rejection works well and it gives you a lot of space for gestures. It is also very responsive and smooth and feels almost as good as using a macbook's. The touch screen is fantastic, although I don't seem to use it much. This machine works fantastically with Windows 10 and perhaps I will integrate more touch-screen usage the longer I have it. Best of all with this model is the power under the hood. This thing is a rocket to use. Startup is so quick that it's even difficult to get into the BIOS menu if you need to! It also runs non-demanding games quite well! I can play StarCraft II at 1920x1080 with low to moderate settings with an average of 40fps, never dipping below 25fps! Finally, while it's a little on the heavy side for ultrabooks, it is so thin that I don't even notice. It's extremely portable and never a burden. Cons: First of all, the biggest complaint from others seems to be that the f5 backlight LED never turns off. This was annoying until I found that going into the BIOS menu you can turn it off, so not really a con in the end just a minor inconvenience. I really wish the keys were black instead of silver, or at least a darker silver than the rest of the body. In low light when the backlight isn't necessary it can be a little hard to see the keys, although again this is just a minor inconvenience. I also do hate that the up and down directional buttons have been condensed into half-buttons to fit the rectangular keyboard area. I've had one annoying problem with the trackpad, which is that ever since updating to Windows 10, the three-finger flick gesture (one I use very frequently) seems to stop working after waking up the machine from sleep mode. This may get patched soon, but for now it is really annoying me as it only works with first startup. I don't like that the power button is on the side of the machine as I've accidentally hit it a couple of times during use, but I understand the need as it's for use in tablet-mode. Which brings me to my next point, this might be just an issue for me, but I don't understand the point of a 360 degree hinge. This laptop is a very unwieldy tablet unless you lay it on a table, and i rarely use the tent or presentation modes. It's a nice feature to have when using an active stylus on the table in tablet mode, but for typical laptop use, i'd say it's more or less gimicky, but this is likely just because I rarely use the touch screen. The speakers are okay, nothing special. I'd much rather use headphones at all times. When watching HD videos or doing anything demanding, the machine does run a little hot. Not uncomfortable, but just a little too hot. Finally, given that this model is the QHD touch screen model with the i7 processor, the battery life isn't as good as if you were to get the 1920x1080 model with an i5 or i7. It still lasts me at least 5 hours with constant HD video streaming, and upwards of 8 hours with regular browsing, so it isn't always necessary to carry a charger, but still it could be better. TL;DR: I love this laptop. I get the feeling I might have liked the macbook pro more if I wanted to grow accustomed to OSX, but as far as windows laptops go this thing is the best. Ultra-portable, ultra-powerful, a true piece of art to behold, and a joy to use. I plan to use this in all of my college classes and will be taking notes with OneNote using the Dell Active Stylus in tablet mode on a table.

Had to replace destroyed previous laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had so many laptops in the last 15 years last one was an HP first ultra book with touch screen I ever purchased loved it for 2 and a half years until the fateful morning forgot to zipper backpack/briefcase/portable office and laptop fell out also had neoprene case which wasn't fully closed and totaled screen and cracked off motherboard from screen it wasn't perfect it had a few quirks like sometimes wouldn't boot up and had to do crazy things to get it to boot up was like this from first month also had poor quality camera and poor battery life but after getting used to it and knowing we're all my files were ETC. really loved it plus HP customer service was top notch I mean they really took care of you I never took extended warranty before but when I was prompted to purchase full protection waranty after owning it for two years I bought it and sent it back to HP they sent back completely refurbished like new laptop which I gave to a coworker who was in need of a laptop. Now to how I wound up buying the specter 360 so I was paralyzed without a laptop and also needed more space for files especially picture files so first I purchased a dell 7000 series very thin and light but large 15.6 screen with I7 processor and 8 GB ram and 1 TB hard drive I had never bought a dell laptop before and this one had lots of bells and whistles and was very well priced for a mid range unit I don't know if it was a lemon or windows 8.1was to blame but it was my worst nightmare had to do 2 factory resets which were performed by my companies IT head he cloned hard drive prior to resets also I finally after years and years bought a back up drive more on this later anyhow I wasn't happy with the dells performance very slow for a machine wit an I7 5th generation proceser also have I pad and I phone both solid state devices so started considering replacing factory hard drive with internal SSD drive until night of horror was leaving for international business trip in morning and laptop started freaking out was to late to have company IT guy do factory reset and clone hard drive so I called Dell customer service big mistake besides taking 45 minutes to go threw telephone maze to get right service or more like wrong service expert who said only way to fix major problems was to do another factory reset but first put all my data 500GIGS worth on my backup drive which would take 6 hours than do reset than reinstall data another 7 hours I was between a rock and a hard place I had to catch a flight in the morning halfway around the world and had presentations and files necessary on my laptop to make a long story short she messed up big time and lost so much important data I went on my trip I rebuilt proposals an presentations which were saved to my desktop which she totally lost Dell never again I don't know how they stay in business with such horrible customer service and hardware . So when I returned I decided I was going to return the Dell and either buy an apple product even though I'm an old dog that doesn't learn new tricks or the very best windows laptop whatever the cost penny wise dollar foolish so I returned the Dell and purchased the Lenova Yoga 2 14 inch with an I5 processor and a 256 GB SSD that night I read the reviews and saw that a lot of people said the same thing after a few months the machine would start bugging out on them and they had to do factory resets than I started reading the reviews on the brand new HP Spectre I didn't even open the Lenovo I went back to beast buy returned the Lenovo and purchased the top of line HP Spectre with a 512 GB SSD and I 7 processor with a 4k screen so far I love it I'm still learning its features and windows 10 I think the only issue so far is the battery life which was promised is a few hours less depending what I'm doing on the machine but still far supreme to any battery life I've ever had before I get approximately 7 to 8 hours will call HP about it also took a little time to get used to mouse pad configuration on this sleek super fast sports car of a laptop the craftsmanship and build quality are so rich and sleek the size is perfect so far very happy will buy one for my daughter in college who has been using MACS her whole life but needs a windows based system for the business courses she's taking.

Great Ultrabook 2in1!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was actually better than expected. I was deciding between this, the Lenovo Yoga3 and actually the MacBook Pro (not seriously considering the Mac, but had to look). I like that this had the full i7 5th Gen processer. The Yoga3 of the same size only had the M processor, which I didn't want, but I liked the smaller screen size. Touch screen is responsive and actually kinda nice to use when lazily reading or playing around. For typing the keyboard is good size and lays well. Performance has been fantastic, and the boot times on the SSD are great. I like the computer more than I anticipated. I was holding off on a new one because I had my old one tweaked perfectly. This does well. I use Start8 to use the desktop like any pre Win8 computer. Curious to see how Win10 goes on July 29 with the free upgrade.

Great design with a couple minor issues.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like it over all, but the HDMI doesn't power a Samsung 40" 2160p Smart 4K Ultra HD TV (MODEL: UN40HU6950). (My HP ZBook 14 does just fine, so it looks like it is the video card in the Spectre x360.) The high res screen on the Spectre is also interesting with the magnification it has to do within Windows to make it functional. Hopefully they get it better with Windows 10, but for now, that's a bit of a pain. Battery life is great overall, and the build quality is excellent. So is the integration with Windows 8.1. Very fast start ups and great performance. Appreciate that the keyboard shuts down in tablet mode so you aren't bumping keys while using the touch screen.

A fully Connected Laptop Convertible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Same dimensions as a 14 inch mac book, but so much more power. It's about as twice as thick as a mac book air, but you're getting a touch screen with digitzer, a foldable hinge and a lot of ports 3 USB ports Full size SD card Full HDMI mini Display port backlit keyboard This laptop is the laptop the macbook pro should be. Full Core i7 power with 512. Compared to a surface pro 3. The Pen for the surface pro 3 is better than the x360, but you don't have to deal with the keyboard detaching. You can also tilt the screen for the x360 back to exact spot you need. Extra wide touchpad is a bit wierd, but not bothersome From fully off to Power on in about 5 seconds Biggest complaint i.e 4 instead of 5 stars. The fan can get bit annoying. Is this laptop for you? Do you like the Surface pro, but wish it had more ports. Get the x360 I like the Macbook, but I hate MacOS/ I need a touch screen. Get x360 Do you need a laptop more often than you need a tablet - Get x360. I want a tablet more often than i need a laptop- Surface Pro 3

Best bang for the buck available
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reason I chose this laptop was not ideal (had a return snafu that left me with tons of credit), but I could not have hoped for such a good solution. The build quality on the laptop is top-notch and the hard drive and processor make for a very snappy performance. I also like the pen support available (both the hp active stylus and the dell active stylus 5(aagn model) work with the screen and provide a very good drawing and writing experience. I use both and find them quite useful in my classes. My only complaint I have with this computer is that it seems to run quite hot quite often, for no discernable reason, which can make it uncomfortable to use directly in the lap in standard mode. In tablet, tent or stand modes its not an issue, as the vents are not directed towards the user. Not a dealbreaker by a long shot, but something to bear in mind.

GREAT LAPTOP; HAS EVERYTHING YOU COULD WANT
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had a 3 yr. old HP laptop with windows 7, and have had NO problems with it. We just wanted something as lightweight as possible, without sacrificing anything other than the DVD drive; which we knew we'd have to buy a slimwriter to play DVDs on. After looking at all brands, including Dell, and Lenovo and Microsoft Surface Pros we decided on this new HP Spectre. We got the one with 512 GB of storage. COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS WITH IT. HAVE HAD IT ABOUT A MONTH NOW. 1.It's the lightest one we could get,and not have to put a hub on it to plug in other things(like the Microsoft Surface Pro 3). 2.No problems with the keyboard(like the Lenovos I've read.) 3.It has a solid state drive and is made of aluminum; so thin! Durable! Best hard drive! 4.It is QUALITY. 5.We love the touch screen, and the convertible feature to fold it and use it as a notebook!.6.Absolutely everything works so well on this laptop! IT'S FAST. 7.No problems with the wifi.8.Like the mouse on it.9.We did buy a Microsoft wireless ergonomic keyboard, so when my husband wants to type for awhile he can fold this keyboard back and use that one, and it works great! 10.Love the backlit keyboard. 11.Unlike the Dell convertibles, this keyboard seemed "not too squeezed" and seems large enough for our fingers.Terrific for HP! Oh, and the battery lasts A LONG TIME! No issues with it....great long life battery.

Q: QuestionIf the computer is OFF and you fold it into tablet mode, and then turn it on, are the touch pad & touch pad buttons active? So far, I have found that all of the HP x360s have the following design flaw. I’m wondering if this newer one still has this design flaw? Here’s how to test it. With the computer OFF, open up the computer, and fold it all the way into tablet mode. Then turn on the computer, leaving it in tablet mode. The problem has been that, when the HP computers are turned on in this tablet mode, the touch pad and the touch pad buttons would be active, and that causes obvious problems. If it is working properly, none of the buttons, the touchpad, nor the keyboard should be active, in this tablet mode.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The answer is no. If you power the laptop on while in tablet mode, the keyboard and the touchpad are not active. 1) Powered laptop off in laptop mode 2) Turned into Tablet mode 3) Turned on laptop 4) Keyboard and touchpad don't work 5) Flip back to laptop mode, Keyboard and touchpad now work

Q: QuestionAny problems/regrets using programs with this QHD display vs. the FHD model?Hi! We are ready to purchase the HP Spectre x360 13.3 but have been a bit "stuck" deciding between this QHD model vs the FHD. We know the QHD will consume a bit more battery and maybe get an hour or two less pushing more pixels around but that's not a big concern as even 6 hours of real time use is enough for us. The real concern is if there are any scaling issues running programs under Windows. We know some older programs don't scale well and have tiny menus and icons but we won't be using any older programs than Office 2013. Also, Windows 10 is only one day away from release and each version of Windows seems to handle scaling better with more options. We don't really need the larger 512 gig in this model (vs. the 256 gig in the FHD model since we own a Network Attached Storage device) but I do love high resolution displays were the "jaggies" of text are not very evident. Any opinions? Do we get this QHD or the FHD. Prod and Cons would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!
Asked by PappyB.
- A:Answer I originally got the model with the the FHD but returned it for the QHD. I'm glad I did! I am using Windows 10 and I haven't noticed any scaling issues. QHD is worth the extra money...
