Great performance for the price - odd form factor
||Posted .I was drawn to this model for for the specs than for the hybrid form factor. There was no other machine on the market with this screen size (for me, 13" is a sweet spot between too large to lug around and too small to work productively), a 4th gen i3 processor, and a solid state drive close to this price. As an added bonus, I guess, the thing comes apart and can be used as a tablet. Obviously, all of the machine had to be located in the top half of the clam-shell, so it's much more top-heavy than most laptops I've used. I need to be careful not to tilt it back too far on my lap else it will topple over backwards. Since I mostly use it on a table or desk, though, that's not really a problem for me. Some have complained that the odd-shaped hinge digs into their legs if they use the machine on their lap. I haven't noticed this to be much of an issue, but as stated above, I mostly use it on desks or tables. Although the tablet-only form is comically-large (at least by tablet standards) it's interesting to have a tablet with full Windows capabilities. That said, full Windows without a physical keyboard is really only useful for consuming, not creating or editing content. I've really only used the Split X2 in tablet mode on airplanes. I suppose if you make a lot of presentations on the road, it could be nice to just pop it out of your bag and hit go on your slide deck. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with this machine so far, even if I rarely use it's most noticeable feature.

Great buy for my buck
||Posted .I got this as a black Friday deal and so far so good. I have issues with it disconnecting from the wifi network but I am not sure if its my wifi or the Splitx2. So far nothing else seems to be losing connection in my home. everything else is great. I am going to get a screen protector as I am constantly cleaning the fingerprints off the screen but that is bound to happen with a touch screen pc. this device is fast for only being an i3 processor and the batter is great. I have taken it to work with me and just left it sitting there all day without letting it go to sleep, still had juice when I took it home with me. Undocking the tablet from the docking keyboard seems to make the tablet look huge, so much though that I've been reluctant to use it in public as a tablet as it's ridiculously big. overall a great buy. I am very happy with it despite the wifi connection issues.

Great price, Great functionality
||Posted .I got this for my wife for Christmas, bought on black friday. I thought the small drive would be an issue but then I saw that it comes with a sky drive which means she would be able to have more than enough space to store pictures and music! I went into the purchase knowing there would not be a CD Drive, which people will need to install software. However, I knew my wife does not install software except for uploading photos from her Camera. I knew I could just download the drivers from the manufacturer's website so I was ok with this. Boot up is fast because of the solid state drive, windows 8 sucks primarily because it's a totally new operating system but I guess that's what everyone will have to learn sooner or later.

Good value for a Windows 8 2-in-1 (Laptop/Tablet)
||Posted .Purchased this on Black Friday to serve as my introduction to a touch-screen Windows 8 Tablet & Laptop combination. After a lengthy wait for updates to install in order to to upgrade to Windows 8.1, I started on my journey to learn about the newest OS. HP & Microsoft resources were good to get started. I then checked out" Windows 8.1 for Dummies" & "Windows 8 Hacks" from the local Library and just finished perusing these to get up to speed. I'll need a lot more 'hands-on' experience to reach a point that I can be comfortable teaching Basic Computer skills on Windows 8 PCs at the local Veterans Resource Center. HP did a nice job of integrating everything into one package with the latest features & devices. I did add a number of items: -External USB 3.0 1TB WD Passport drive -External USB 2.0 LG disc drive -Targus Stylus -Various cases (Targus, JanSport & HP) As an experienced Windows 7 & XP user I am enjoying the additoional features & apps along with the much faster response from a Intel i3 processor with 4GB memory (as compared to the slower speed/lower memory of my earlier PCs).

Good litte laptop for the money
||Posted .This little hybrid laptop is perfect for home or business use. When your just browsing the web you can detach the screen and use it as a tablet and when you have to write reports or work on a spread sheet you can keep it as a laptop and use the keyboard. processor speed is good and the picture is excellent. It's lite weight and compact so if you have to use it for work it's not like carrying a ball and chain. The only problem I've encountered is putting the screen back on the keyboard, it can be a little tricky and you shouldn't just remove the screen when the computer is running without using a series of keys before removing.

Nice to have a laptop and tablet in one device
||Posted .I really like this two-in-one laptop and tablet. It has two batteries, so has good battery life, and the touch screen disconnects easily. It is great for reading and internet surfing. It was easy to set up, and was plug and play with both the cordless mouse and external DVD/CD player that I purchased to go with it. It is also easy to hook up to my desktop monitor when I need a big screen. I was surprised that it didn't come with Microsoft Works, but I would have upgraded to Office anyway, so that wasn't really a big deal. When assembled as a laptop, it is a little on the heavy side at almost 5 lbs, but I really like the 13.3 inch screen/tablet. The only complaint I have is that the touch screen locks up periodically, (especially in tablet mode), and I have to turn it off and on to get the touch screen to continue working. Overall, I am happy with this computer.

Good idea, needs some technical work
||Posted .Splitting is very convenient. The 2 batteries charge will last aprox. 3 to 4 hrs. Actually even if it is shut down it will drain both batteries if you don't use it. I call HP and the technician wanted to bring back the laptop to its original settings but they were not willing to replace Microsoft Office Professional if it was lost. I told them no. They "try" to fix it but it did not work they said there is a problem with the battery. They really wanted for me to pay extra money to service the laptop for additional 3 years because of the battery??. My question would be: Do we buy a split laptop to be hook on most of the time: the top part is a tablet?? What good it is to have the convenience of a tablet in a lap top if you have to charge it so often. By the way the batteries will last only about 900 hook ups. Price for one of the battery $100.00 Other thing is the way it splits, It is kind of difficult to try to separate. It seems to me you need 3 hands; 2 to take the top off y one to keep the bottom part on top of the desk. You need to be careful with this feature will be broken soon. They are not made for ruff handling.

Q: QuestionCan I upgrade the laptop to 8gb ram?1. Can I upgrade the ram in the hp split 2 in 1 to 8gb ram? or 2. can the amount of ram be customized when it is bought from best buy?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer 1. Yes, you can expand the RAM to 8GB on this machine. It is only a single port, so the 4GB chip would be replaced with a single 8GB. 2. Not entirely sure, but there is a good chance that you can ask Best Buy - Geek Squad to upgrade it for you.
