So far so good on this Device for Middle School
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son's middle school went to all digital textbooks this year. They were required to provide their own device (any kind.) After spending most of the summer fretting over what to purchase, we went with the Split x2. It met my son's wish for a touchscreen, soft quiet keys (he's got sensory processing disorder), and "cool" look. He also liked the convertible tablet part for just reading. It met my requirements for long battery life (has to last a full day at school), easy to carry in the backpack, quick bootup between classes, easy use for getting where he needs to go each class, and ability to set parental controls. He has been using it for 3 weeks, and we both love it. I have put each of his "textbooks" on the startup page so he just needs to click "math", "science" etc and it takes him straight to that book/website. When just reading, he can easily use it as a tablet, then put it back when wanting the keyboard. We have not (knock on wood) had any software/hardware issues. We're constantly discovering new things, last night finding that he can use speech (talk) to do searches and in Word! This is such a blessing for the increased workload of middle school and a dysgraphic son! We are Mac users, but have to admit this product is changing our minds a bit. Now, if only they will hurry up and make a hard case and other accessories for this product!! PS, it was hard getting anyone to give a battery life estimate...I would say its in the 6-8 hour range. He has used it daily in class and always comes home with enough charge to do his homework.

Great computer for home use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We needed a new laptop and were interested in also getting a tablet but with our limited use we couldn't justify buying both. This system gives you both in one reasonably priced package. As a laptop sometimes it appears to be a bit slow, although it boots up SUPER fast (5 seconds) which makes it ultra convenient to use at any time. Windows 8 clearly has some issues that need to be worked out as not all software is compatible with it. Also when used as a tablet, it's a bit big and heavy to read from in bed and as a laptop its screen seems too small. I'm disappointed with the amount of microsoft bloatware installed on this system. The google play store doesn't work on this machine so the apps have to be downloaded from microsoft's store which is much more limited in selection. It would be a lot better if there was compatibility with the Google apps (which will probably never happen). I was hoping for more seamless integration with my android which I guess I should have known ahead of time not buying an android tablet (I ultimately chose the windows based tablet for compatibility with the Office suite which is still more important to me). Overall the computer meets our needs though and I would recommend it.

not bad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this product was great for the price. two options: the ultrabook, and the tablet. overall this was a great deal, the computer functionality was good, the touch screen was pretty sweet, and the tablet ability was very nice. in the end it comes down to being a mediocre ultrabook, that is a bit on the heavy side, and a very large tablet, at 13", which ends up being a bit awkward, and heavy for a tablet. also, the screen is not full HD so it was a bit disaapointing. when the keyboard is attached, the computer is stationed in the actual screen portion of the computer, so it is disproportionately heavy on the top side, and just didn't feel right to me. ended up taking it back for something else, a bit lighter ultrabook option, as that was the main feature i was looking for.

Love this laptop/tablet!!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love/love the flexibility that this computer offers. The sreen size is great to act as dual function, either regular laptop or a tablet. And, I have not found any programs or activities that I was doing in my old computer that I cannot do on this one. I really like the touch feature and ability to decide whether I want to use a keyboard or not. My main request is that the tablet can be easier to use if there were additional accessories available like a cover that would allow tablet to stand on its own when it is undocked from the keyboard.

Great for school and fun at home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a great product if your not planning to do anything but turn it on and use it for what it is. So far ive had trouble finding information about it and HP have not come out with accessories for it yet. I hope they are working on this. The computer is great for my school work and I like being able to use it with my windows phone. After homework is done for the night the screen is big enough where I can pull off the tablet and watch a movie in bed if I want to

Love it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop, I needed to buy a new one and wanted a hybrid. I looked at a lot of options and came across this one and for the price and things it could do it was awesome and I was sold! It has VERY long battery life, because there is two batteries! The audio on it is amazing, because it had beatsaudio! Its not to heavy and it is easy to use. The screen is also perfect size, 12' not too big and not too small for a laptop or a tablet

The best for what I was lookin for at the moment.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you don't need a tablet then this would not be the best option for you as the keyboard is heavy and a bit clunky. However it's serviceable and worth the inconvenience because the tablet is great. Large screen and very responsive. Battery life is about 4-5 hours without keyboard and about 8-9 hours with keyboard.

I'm 73 and travel. I love the flexability.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a new computer and I wanted an IPad. I have always bought HP products. So my patience paid off and I got both in one product. At 73 years of age I was a bit hesitant to deal with a touch screen, Windows 8, and a whole new way of paying my bills and keeping in touch with my family and friends when I travel. My new HP Split computer was easy to get used to, works exactly like my HP mini and fits into my busy life perfectly. I have no complaints.

Q: QuestionCan you buy a replacement dock?If I have to plug something in and out at least two times a day I figure that the port will eventually die. Will I be able to buy a replacement dock portion, or would I have to go on ebay to find someone whose tablet had failed?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, you would need to buy it from HP directly, but there are replacement docks available. The product does come with a 1-year warranty, so if it malfunctions within that time, they would replace it through the warranty. Best Buy Mobile and Connectivity Specialist, Kraig

Q: QuestionSplit x2 or Surface 2?I am in highschool and want a laptop I can use for school work, gaming, and video making/editing. Between the two, which would be better? (ALSO: if you have any suggestions for what I am looking for feel free to tell me) Thanks! :)
Asked by Mary.
- A:Answer If you're looking to do video editing, you'll want to get something with much more power than a tablet. I'd suggest looking for a computer with an i5 or above processor, and at least 6 GB of RAM. You'll probably want to look into something with a dedicated video card as well. Q: QuestionStreaming NetflixI want to use this to watch movies through Netflix. Will this unit do what I want it to do?
Asked by gdfarms.
- A:Answer Yes! It comes with a Netflix app already on the Windows screen. If you plan on using it for more than a few shows, you will need to have it plugged in. Streaming videos can drain the battery kind of fast.

Q: Questiondoes it come with or have a stylus you can buy? and does it work well with one?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer This does not come with a stylus or digitizer. I tried the stylus with the rubbery tip and DID NOT like it, but now I'm using the jot pro with it and like it a lot. It works well
