The HP Sprocket Studio Printer is a dedicated 4x6-inch photo printer that connects to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. The Sprocket Studio Bundle includes the printer, a plug-in power supply, a cordless power bank, and a carrying bag. Use the plug-in power adapter to charge the power bank, which will power the printer for up to 40 prints, or will charge a USB device like a phone or smart watch. The Sprocket Studio bundle also includes a starter cartridge and several sheets of 4x6-inch photo paper. The Sprocket Studio is a dye sublimation.printer, which passes the paper through four times, for the three colors C, M, and Y, and a clear coat. HP says that such dye sublimation prints should remain bright for 100 years, if stored in the dark. It took less than five minutes to download the HP Sprocket app to my iPhone, And to go through the setup steps. The printer connected quickly to my iPhone, I selected a photo from my library, and printed it. The HP Sprocket Studio software allows you print a single photo or a collage of photos. It also has a few dozen photo frames and embellishments, and you can write on or add text to your photo before printing. The power bank charged quickly to full capacity, right out of the box. We used it to charge a Garmin fitness watch. Replacement cartridges are available separately in a two-pack, along with 80 sheets of photo paper. Pros: Small, compact, easy to set up. Wireless printing via Bluetooth. Dye sublimation ink is mess-free and archival. Bright colors. Portable, and cordless, if you use the power pack. Prints 4x6-inch photos, while earlier HP printers printed very small or wallet-sized photos. Cons: Each photo takes over two minutes to print, so this is not a production photo printer. Replacement dye sublimation cartridges and paper cost nearly 50 cents per print. The Sprocket Studio prints only 4x6-inch prints. Colors were not “spot on,” but were very good. You can print only via the HP Sprocket Studio app. If you are looking for a dedicated, portable, easy-to-use photo printer, the HP Sprocket Studio bundle is a good deal, as it includes a power bank and carrying bag.

The Sprocket Studio Printer is a well thought out, small photo printer. It works really well, and I wanted to give it 5 stars, but I just couldn’t. First of all, It is a PLUS that it is Bluetooth connected. And I love that it doubles as a power pack to charge other essentials, such as your watch, phone, etc. I love the bag, I love that you can carry it with you. I love all those things, but in the end, it is a limited small printer. And I asked myself, why carry this with me? The power pack! I did print a couple of pictures and show several friends how it worked, and they too thought ti was a novel idea, but I guess what I’m saying is, I will most likely leave it at home and if I want to print a picture that really interest me, I will, but I look at the cost. Before the printer arrived I had taken the time to download the HP Sprocket app on my iPhone 7+. And it was a quick setup process to get everything on the same page, so to speak. The printer and my phone paired quickly. The app is really a nice feature. It allows you to customize your photos, such as adding text, frames, emojis, and stickers to the photos. And you can turn any picture into a master piece. Most everyone today uses a phone to record special events, and the app helps you to customize those events. BUT the time it takes to print is SLOW!!!! I didn’t officially time each print, but its a snails pace. Again, look at what you are buying, its a small printer used to print 4X6 photos, that takes time. GRANTED, the quality is exceptional. The colors are very vibrant and sharp, The bag that carries everything is well made and looks like it will hold up over time. My final thought is this: Its like a conversation piece, I have one, I like it, but in the end will I take pictures and then take the time to print them? I don’t know, I have a grandson due in May, (my first grandchild) that may be the time I put this to more use, but as it is right now, I don’t really print that many pictures anymore. Would I recommend this, NO. Not unless you have A LOT OF TIME, and plan on printing a lot of 4X6 photos.
