The BEST thermal laptop so far!!! Please do READ!
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Ok, so I purchased diff models of Gaming laptops ranging from mSi to Razer this year and RETURNED THEM. This is the ONLY machine so far that maintains a HIGH FPS while staying COOL!!! I play Resident Evil 2 : Remake in 1080p / HIGH QUALITY @144Hz with high Settings (AO, Bloom etc) and I avarage 130-140 FPS ( I have a 144hz monitor). My mSi runs somewhat good too (GTX 1650Ti) but was going up to 95 DEGREES C* (CPU) which is why I stopped gaming on it but... THIS machine stays max 68c GPU / 70c CPU while running this game with good frame rate and stability. It's also VERY quiet while gaming, while Razer Blade / mSi GF didn't. I returned a Razer a few months back with a RTX2060 and it performed horribly after about 15mins gaming due to overheating... I was sad about that since it looked amazing from a design point of view. I am finally satisfied with the performance / value (Ports are a major plus) and FINALLY I have a laptop that stays thermally safe in longer runs. I do my own Benchmarks and YES it stayed cool in just about all the apps I tested (CineBench, Unigine Valley, Blender, etc...) at 1080p Ultra settings with high FPS. Do buy! A major plus if you are going to use it with an external monitor (144hz+) monitor like I am. ***The HDMI port will deliver higher performance from the RTX 3050 on an external monitor.

Great for My Husband and I!
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I’m not a computer person so, if that’s what you’re looking for, I suggest looking at other reviews. When I bought this laptop, it was to upgrade my previous one that was running slow, had a cracked screen, and just had really been through the works. And as an upgrade, it works fantastic! I do have a couple games on the computer since I’m not a huge gamer but wanted to get gaming laptops for my husband and I to play together. He got the same laptop and downloaded many more games than I did and filled up the storage space in less than a day with just a couple big games. We did buy him an external storage and that solved the issue really quickly. He’s been able to play these games on the best settings but, I will say the laptop does heat up a lot doing so. Mine, on the other hand, doesn’t heat up too much but I’m not playing games that require a powerful computer to run them. The computers are a bit heavy and quite large but, I do like them. My husband really likes his as well since we’ve only ever had slow or non working computers the past couple of years. Some of the games he’s been enjoying playing on this laptop is Apex Legends, Baldurs Gate 3, No Mans Sky, and others. Baldurs Gate is what filled the storage system on the first day. It still ran though and that’s what mattered to us.

Excellentid-priced Gaming Laptop
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This is a great mid-priced gaming laptop! I have been using my desktop from about 8 years ago and I finally gave in and upgraded. I wanted to prortability of a laptop but wanted something powerful enough to play some current games. This thing is fast and runs mostly every current game with a good frame rate that I have tried. I did add some memory and an external hard drive, as the included ssd fills up fast. I also got a laptop fan to combat the heat generated when gaming. The only game that does not run, due to the limited GPU memory, is Warzone. I starts up fine but crashes when entering a match. It works with a lower resolution, but who wants to play like that? If you don't want to (or cannot) spend $1600 on a gaming laptop, you won't be disappointed with this rig.

So far, so good.....
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I purchased this for my 9 yr. old. He wanted a gaming computer, so after looking into specs and reviews, I figured this would be a good pick. He isn't into all these new high end games, so things like Minecraft have run flawlessly. For the price point, I would have liked to have would be a touch screen, but overall, he needs to be able to navigate without it. At some point, I could definitely see the need for a larger hard drive, too. To date, it has remained plugged in, so I can't comment on this.

Nice budget gaming laptop
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.A very nice little budget gaming laptop. I sprung for a RAM upgrade (32GB), but other than the wimpy 8GB mem, this baby is pretty perfect. Can run pretty much any game that I play at the max settings, doesn't get obscenely hot under a full load, and the cobalt color gives this model a unique look. I wish the refresh rate were better, but that's my only gripe.

Feels a little flimsy but great hardware!
||Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Great hardware for the price. The slim bezels around the screen are nice. Blue color is "mellow" but different enough to be unique in a world of mostly black, silver, and gray computers. The chassis is a little more cheap-feeling and flimsy than I would like, so I am a little concerned about long-term durability (I am intending to travel with it frequently) but I am still happy with the purchase. Battery life is decent and the screen is decent, but a better quality display would be a welcome change.

Fast, slim gaming laptop
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I use this laptop for work and recreation. The graphics are clear and it has great power even with all my gaming mods at work. I use dual monitors, listen to music/movies while gaming; and it can handle it all. Decent battery life, large touch pad, larger screen, amazing speakers, and a quiet keyboard. ports available: 3 usb, headset(with mic) aux, lightening, SD, and internet.

Q: Questioncan i add memory to this laptop ?
Asked by Dellian.
- A:Answer Thank you for your question! The HP Victus Gaming Laptop (16-d0023dx) can have its memory increased! It comes with two 4 GB DDR4-2933 MHz RAM sticks in the two available memory sockets. It can support up to 32GB of memory.

Q: QuestionCan the SSD be replaced? If so, is it PCIe Gen 3 or Gen 4?
Asked by Elron.
- A:Answer It can. It’s a little difficult to open the bottom of the computer. It’s held together with some clips. You have to really get the pry tool in there. Other than that, there are TWO M.2 slots in the machine. One is the default one with the OS on it then there is another slot for a secondary drive. That’s it. There is not a SATA drive slot. I bought a 1 TB M.2 for mine for game storage. I just wish it weren’t such a pain to open

Q: QuestionIs there an option with 144Hz screen refresh rate ?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hello. Thanks for your question. This Victus by HP Laptop 16-d0023dx has a refresh rate of 60 Hertz. If you want a faster refresh rate, you could connect a monitor with a higher refresh rate to this laptop. There 1 HDMI port on this laptop.

Q: QuestionYou say the RAM can be upgraded from 8GB to 32GBs but what is the maximum MHz speed of those two 16GB Ram cards that can be added? Any specific recommendation by HP that maximizes this laptop setup’s performance. Possibly from Best Buy or elsewhere?
Asked by KidsLoveGaming.
- A:Answer The most you can get would be 3200 mHz, but be careful as most RAM needs to be overclocked using XMP for its advertised values, which the Victus doesn’t have access to. I bought the PNY XLR8 3200 Mhz 16GB(2x8GB) on Best Buy for 57.99$ at the time of writing this, because it doesn’t require XMP

Q: QuestionIt says it has backlit keys, but can you customize the colors?
Asked by tori.
- A:Answer Hi Tori, thank you for the question. The backlight keyboard on the Victus by HP 16-d0023dx is not customizable, however you could connect an external gaming keyboard.
