      Really jumpy

I've yet to find a wireless mouse that I consider even decent. This is no different. I hoped that by spending more money on this mouse, it would be more reliable, but that's not the case. At first, I really couldn't even use the mouse. It was only communicating about 20% of the time, so it made the cursor really jumpy and almost impossible to accurately land on a target. I then moved the USB receiver from a port on the back of my computer to a port on the front, and that has improved things. But it's very inconvenient to sacrifice a front-side USB port for something that is plugged in 100% of the time. And even still, the mouse is too jumpy. I still often have periods of it not responding at all, or being very difficult to hit the click target as it jumps around. I'm strongly considering just going back to a wired mouse.

      Ergonomic Comfort

This mouse is a good choice for those who may need or at least like an ergonomic mouse. I am unable to happily use the typical small, non-ergonomic mice on the market, but find many of the ergonomic mice to be unsatisfying, frankly. The prices of those models are prohibitors, given their lack of satisfaction. Reasonably-priced, I've found this mouse to be a good buy. The body of this mouse has sufficient size, width and height to allow for less cramping, clutching and other unconscious tension-creating handling. The mouse is not so lightweight as to be insubstantial, but has enough heft to handle well. NOTE: this was purchased for a vintage Mac and did not work in that setting. Use for later-model PCs and you can't go wrong. The colors offered in this line are beautiful too.

      Mostly good, solid, but simple

Bought this to utilize the HP "Link 5" dongle that came with my keyboard, otherwise there are plenty more keyboards and mice in the Logitech ecosystem. This mouse is great--plug in the receiver, hit the Connect button, and it instantly software to install like with Logitech. This is larger than a travel mouse. Slightly taller, overall larger footprint, and uses 2 AA batteries. More comfort (more of your hand rests on the mouse instead of the desk surface) but slightly more size and weight. I'll still toss it in a bag and go. Only shortcoming is the lack of features-- you only get the left, right buttons and a scroll wheel. No more functionality than that. The scroll wheel is rubbery enough, and it has a bit more resistance to rotate than most mice I've used. Didn't take long to get used to though.

      Hewlett-Packard Wireless Mouse

      • Verified PurchaserVerified Purchase

I really like this mouse a lot, unfortunately I got it intending to use it with my PC but I ended up only being able to use it with my laptop because the USB port is on the same side I use the mouse on and the mouse is only a few inches away from the USB port instead of being feet away from my PC. However, the unit in performance is very responsive, you must remember to turn the mouse off when you are done using it. I am most impressed b y the fit of the mouse to my hand, it's so natural I am always amazed when I use the mouse. The mouse wasn't too expensive although I would have gotten a mouse that I could have used with my PC instead. The store assistant wasn't much help in that case and sold me a mouse I couldn't use on my PC unless I put my tower on my desktop so the USB plug-in is inches away from the mouse.

Just as good at the keyboard.

This mouse is just as much a pleasure to use as the HP elite keyboard. I never thought I would say that about a keyboard and mouse. In the past as long as it was easy to setup and use I was happy. HP changed my view on that. The quite smooth touch of the keys and immediate awakening of my desktop has made this mouse my new standard. I haven't had to think about batteries in the few months I've had it, and everything has worked smooth as butter.

      Just what I needed.

It's a simple wireless mouse. I needed it for my computer because I live in a small travel trailer, (24' inside), and wires were everywhere. I got a wireless keyboard, and this mouse. It works just fine with the special chip that HP has. The USB plug will facilitate up to five HP wireless peripherals. I have experienced no problems with this mouse. Any chimpanzee could use it.

      Not Great, Not Expensive

Overall not impressed, return period running out, may return, by this point you're probably askin why? The mouse is the right size but lacks good ergonomics, the receiver is constantly losing connection, the plate covers the battery but doubles as the mouse button, if it comes up, which it does, suddenly it feels like the whole plate will break in half trying to push it back into position. For $18, it's less than I would expect, but I really did not want to spend $60 for a mouse on a second computer. Overall it works with some issues.

      Good mouse for the price.

The mouse itself works great and has done well in my gaming endeavors. The wireless plugin is the only problem with the mouse. It works fine and is tiny so it doesn't get bumped into. However, if you want to take the wireless plugin out of the computer there is nowhere to put it on the mouse so you have to hope you don't lose it or that you have the original package or something to hold onto it. Like I said before, it's small so it's also easy to lose. Mine hasn't left my computer for that reason alone.

      HP x4000
Hewlett-Packard was a workstation vendor long before the company made the leap into the PC business. The HP x4000 is a clear descendant of the PA-RISCbased machines that helped HP build its reputation as a solid "minicomputer" manufacturer. TheFull Review
