||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best Unlocked phone there is! I highly recommend this phone to anyone looking for high end (just like premium) phone for the fraction of the cost. Don't let the price fool you, either. This phone is very responsive and has one of the best camera for an Unlocked phone. USB C, Dual Camera, Fingerprint sensor, IR blaster... what more could you want!? Love the UI too. Highly recommended.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone has no business being this cheap. This phone is beautiful, has a great camera, has great battery life, and a great fingerprint sensor and is nearly half the price of the segment leader. There are only 2 gripes about his phone. First, it is the slipperiest phone in the world, please get a case or a vinyl skin or something otherwise this will end up in the floor a LOT. Seriously this is the slipperiest device I have ever beheld myself. Secondly, the software, EMUI, is not going to be everyone's cup 'o' tea. It's very inspired by iOS and doesn't have an app drawer and is very white where I would prefer darker UI elements, and it would seem like half of the theming features are simply not present. Luckily you can install a custom launcher, but it can only do so much. But this is a fantastic device overall, I mean the back with its dual vamera setup is completely flush no camera humps here (I'm looking at you Apple and Samsung) and the pictures it produces are pretty nice. If you're looking for a GREAT phone at $400 and want a smaller device, get this phone it is fantastic.

Fantastic overall, especially for the price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for a new phone as the lagginess of Samsung's heavily skinned UI was getting to me. A Galaxy S7 with a Snapdragon 820 processor is nowhere near out of date, so the constant stutters and freezes were nowhere near acceptable to me. Samsung time and time again destroys is beautiful and otherwise grade A hardware with junk, unnecessary software. Before delving into specifics, here is where I would rank the Huawei Honor 8 in major categories which I will delve into later: Price: 10/10 (had a 10% off coupon which REALLY helped as well, less than $280 out the door in my case) Camera: 8/10 (only faults are video auto focus, OIS and no 4K abilities) Build quality: 9/10 (it's pretty and sturdy but all glass so get a case!) Speed: 9/10 (only going to be trumped by a Snapdragon 821 or 835 device) UI: 9/10 (very unobtrusive and has some nice benefits) Battery: 9/10 (I got over 5 hours of screen on time; very good for a 3,000mAh battery) Enter the Huawei Honor 8. I played with a demo model at a local Best Buy and was floored with how well Huawei's in house Kirin 950 processor with 4gb of RAM performed! Now, there are none of the 60+ apps loaded that I would in time load, but I couldn't get the device to stutter when I launched 5 Chrome tabs, switched quickly to the camera and snapped some pics, futzed around with systems settings, and more. This was all without clearing any running apps from memory as well. The display is vibrant though it's nothing as dazzling as the Galaxy S8's. That being said, this phone is less than half the cost. It's a gorgeous 1080p panel which if driving less pixels does save battery should bode well for your battery. 2K or high res screens are overkill in a device this small in my opinion. Fun fact: Huawei includes a FREE replacement of the front of back glass in the event of a crack or break within the first 3 months. Very nice add on! The fingerprint sensor is lightning fast and tied with the fastest I've every used. This includes the iPhone 7/7 plus, Galaxy S8, Le Eco Le Pro 3, and more. Build quality is fantastic with those many panels of glass they use to get those wonderful angled views on the devices back. Just do yourself a favor and get a case as it's ALL glass. The user interface is actually not too bad. I say this as virtually every company with the exception of Motorola (Lenovo) know how to stay the heck out of the way of stock Android which is very functional and very much in line with what user's want. Huawei's EMUI skin that is overlaid on Android 7.0 is very nice with some decent looking notification/settings panel changes and a fairly untouched user interface minus some artistic flairs. I do not use stock launchers and opt for Nova Launcher every single time, so I can't comment on the stock launcher. The fingerprint reader doubles as a clickable button that can be programmed to do virtually anything when clicked, double clicked, or clicked and held (3 different programmable functions); this is simply fantastic to launch the LED/flashlight, launch the camera, and start audio recording without virtually any effort in my case. Overall, not a bad skin/additional Huawei based functionality! Battery life was very good and lasted all day, giving me over 5 hours of screen on time in the 2 pointed tests I ran. I used the phone as I normally would and did not top off the battery otherwise. This phone should easily last you through your entire day with moderate to heavy use and has fast charging if needed (you need a compatible charger which includes the charger that comes with the phone). This will obviously vary based on your use cases. The last major thing I'd like to note is how well the camera generally works. The dual camera setup is supposed to allow for better low light picture taking, which was also something I wanted in a new phone. It captures fantastic stills and performs very well in low light! The auto focus for stills is great, too; lightning fast! The only low point is the auto focus and OIS (optical image stabilization) when shooting video; it's lackluster and won't win you any video of the year awards, but it performs just fine for every day Snapchats and the like. If 4K video shooting is important to you as well, you'll need to look elsewhere. I should also note that this has a headphone jack which in 2017 is becoming rarer and rarer. There's no widespread replacement to the audio quality of a dedicated headphone jack/good DAC so stop killing 3.5mm before USB C or another option are widely available you crazy phone companies! Good on Huawei for keeping it with this flagship. Overall this phone presents fantastic value and I plan on keeping it for at least 1 year before I think of upgrading.

head turner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I pre-ordered, it arrived on release day, good job guys. The 15 layers of glass on the back is something every person finds fascinating. The back is like an artists canvas for manufacturers and I can't wait to see what kind of materials we will see in the future. How about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypercolor instead of the blue? I like the slippery glass, it doesn't try to sandpaper my fingertips or hold oil. I would prefer "pure Android" except functionally required add-ons. The camera is great, it is outperforming my pro Nikon rig about half the time (and with no tripod.) It's sharp, fast, with rich color and usable noise patterns. Sometimes the Nikon produces photos that feel (slightly) better; all that expensive glass does have some science behind it, after all. I wish it had an adjustable lens angle. I'd like to see post-shoot Levels, Exposure, WB, etc more prioritized in the HUD. The post-shoot focus point control is amazing, give whoever designed the UI a raise. The connector is USB Type C, it is the new specification to replace USB micro and mini-B or whatever else. The guy at Not Best Buy had no idea what I was talking about despite 2 aisles of cables (he did like looking at the back of the phone though.) Anyway if you need a second USB cable, better just order one with the phone. Buy the expensive one because the cheap ones may not follow spec and fry things, supposedly. I really want a magnetic connector like https://youtu.be/Euz00E3otlQ embedded in the phone. I feel like I have to be careful with the USB Type C or risk damaging the device. How many ins-and-outs before something breaks, and how many if I'm drinking?? Overall I like it a lot. PRO: It didn't get recalled for catching on fire =P

Awesome phone!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Honor 8 is a top of the line smartphone at a midlevel price. I actually think this is a better phone in both quality and price when compared to the likes of a Samsung Galaxy s7 or iPhone 6s. I used to be an Apple supporter but recently switched to android products because I feel Apple software is no longer current and bland. For half the cost of the competitors, you get an equal, if not better, smartphone. It runs fast even with multiple apps open at once and the build quality is top notch. For those interested in the feature, it has an IR transmitter to control TV's and appliances. It is also equipped with a dual lens camera that provides adequate photos. I highly recommend this phone for those with a lower budget or simply do not see a purpose in spending $800 for a phone when you can get the same quality for more than half the price. The one drawback I have has to do with the glass back. It may be pretty, but it is very slippery and can slide off of a slightly slanted table or couch armrest. So, be cautious of where you set it down. However, most smartphone owners seem to buy cases anyway and it may eliminate this issue, but I like to go without the case due to the extra bulk. Overall, this is a great phone and I hope it gains traction in the US for future support.

awesome phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The honor 8 is a very nice phone and whats make it better is everything you get for the price. 1. Let's start from the design overall of the devices is really nice and feel a lot premium in person that in photos. 2. Its have a really good camera with a lot of option for the user to decide how to shoot a photos if they want to and the front facing camera to me produce great photos with a lot of color representations. 3. The software to me it's really a mixed feeling because first i wasn't a fan of it but ,manage to love it more that hate it, because i know its look a lot like ios i really appreciate the cost and the battery saving feature that provide you with. 4. The battery for what i used it last me for an entire day without having to be worried and the quick charge really help in does moment when you need to charge you phone quickly in less than 30 minutes. 5. Last is the performance is fascinated, i haven't have a lag or problem with the software or the game, because everything run smooth and perfect. Soo yeah overall i loved the phone, for the design, the battery, cameras and for the price you have a nice phone that can compete with flagship phone for less money.

Great all around phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Huawei built Honor 8 is a great phone that competes way above its class. I have had many, many Android phones and this by far has been the most satisfying to use. The beautiful design gets many questions when walking around, the 4GB of RAM is enough memory to multitask seamlessly, the dual sensor camera on the back captures extremely good pictures, the touch sensor on the back has many other functions, and the screen is wonderful and allows for you to set the temp (warm or cool) to your preference. The battery is lasting me 16 hours on avg which is wonderful seeing as I am always on it. The only downfall would be the slipperiness of the phone being that it's basically all glass and the speaker is pretty wimpy. Still, if these are the only sub par things on a mid range phone that speaks volumes for how good it is. This phone has no trouble keeping up with the big dogs.

Q: QuestionDoes this device have a one year manufacturer warranty? from the best buy website.??
Asked by Ravi.
- A:Answer It comes with a 12 month pts. & labor warranty but you have to send it to the manufacturer (they may have US repair facilities) but you can purchase a 1 or 2 year replacement guarantee for $50 or $75. The phones are too complex for them to repair so they just give you a new one. They've happily honored such guarantees with no questions asked. My BB rep suggested this phone to me as it was on a phenomenal sale when I bought it (end of Dec. 2016) so I didn't mind the extra $75 and, so far, I find the phone to be phenomenal. Just found out that I also find the phone by merely speaking: "Dear Honor, Where Are You" and in a moment the music starts, the flashlight flashes and a pleasant woman's voice starts saying "I'm Here.....I'm Here" till you pick it up and cancel! Too many other neat features to mention!
