I have been using and loving the original Kickstarter version since 2017 so I felt that it's time for an update and this new 2020 version did not disappoint. This new 2020 version addressed all the minor issues I had with the 2017 Kickstarter version. - It now supports 4K60Hz HDMI (was previously 4K30Hz) - New magnetic grip (now the hub feels more stable and secure on the MacBook) - It now finally works with MacBook cases (just remove the grip) - Both USB-C ports now support pass-through charging - MicroSD card goes all the way into the hub - Now includes an USB-C extension cable (so you can use it with any USB-C device, not just the MacBook - Free leather pouch to keep everything nice and neat I have been using this 2020 version for more than a week and absolutely love it. There are many copycats in the market that copied the 2017 version so they still have the same old issues. HyperDrive has always been a pioneer and probably just came out with the best USB-C hub for the MacBook Pro/Air. Absolutely Recommended!

The HyperDrive Hub has ports for practically all phones and tablets out on the market. it clicks into the laptop strongly like it has teeth inside that clamp down. It also has an HDMI port to connect an additional monitor or even your living room's t.v. The two slots in the center are for a micro sd card, and for the larger sd cards that typically go into DSLR camera such as Canons or Nikons. The material is a strong metal and the gray is the same as my space gray laptop. Cons: -The black magnetic bar it comes with does not allow the screen to close fully. If you close the screen everyday, like I do, you have to use this without the black bar otherwise you'll be unplugging it everyday. -With it in use with an additional monitor and other ports such as the usb, the device gets really hot. I have a laptop stand with a fan that I keep on during use to help cool it down. -Does not have a port for ethernet. It would be a complete hub with an ethernet port. I could only wish.

This hub works on my MacBook Pro. I can power up the laptop and I can attached flash drives and read photos from my camera via the the up's built in card reader. These are the positives. The design holds well to the macBook, but the cover cannot close properly due to the docking station's plastic attachment. The design of the hub does not match up with the lines of the MacBook making the fit precarious. I have used two hubs not labeled as Apple Products. This is the best I've used to date, and for the price this hub works, but it isn't a perfect fit.
