Customers are negative about the ice size produced by the 26-Pound Automatic Portable Countertop Ice Maker Machine. Many comments focused on the ice cubes being too small, sticking together, and the ice maker not producing enough ice at a time. Concerns were also raised regarding the ice's inability to stay frozen for extended periods and the limited capacity of the ice storage bin. The design of the ice tray and water pump were also cited as problematic.

Pros: I was looking for an ice maker that had more than 2qt water capacity, and this fit the bill with it's easy-to-read 3qt capacity. It's actually a bit quicker to fill it's tray (see cons on tray capacity) compared to others I've owned. Easy to clean reservoir, with protruding intake allows any accidental solids to sink to the bottom without being sucked up by the pump. Neutral: Even though it is labelled as S & L sizes for the ice cubes, it's large size is more like a medium compared to others. Cons: The way ice sweeper and tray are design makes the ice cubes pile up on that side of the tray to the point that it causes the sensors to think the tray is full when it's actually at about 2/3 capacity. I was very disappointed with the thinness of the tray lid. There is nothing that provides some sort of insulation to the ice compartment. This makes it take noticeably longer time to produce ice when the surrounding temperature is high. I was expecting it to be either a little thicker or doubled layered. It lacks temperature control. Once the tray is full and it stops making ice, the existing ice start melting away immediately. Overall, the quicker output balanced enough the lack of thermal insulation and temperature control, that I didn't return it. It does, however, require constant monitoring.

This is a Bad A** little ice maker!! We bought one for my mom and one for the mother-in-law. We decided to try it out first and it is so easy to set up - just wipe it down and add water (we recommend filtered water). You can hear a fan running but it is a soft noise - my microwave is a lot louder if that gives you an idea of how quiet it really is. My husband and I were fascinated with it. We literally watched the metal rods go from wet with water to creating icicles then seeing the round cubes form. The cubes are roundish, about 1.5" long, an inch wide and a hole in the middle where they form on the metal rods. And yes, less than 10 minutes, we had 9 cubes of ice. (9 cubes because there are 9 metal rods on which they form). Once formed and solid, the tray tilts and dumps them into the basket, which holds about 40 or so cubes. Although it will store the cubes in the basket, we dumped them into a bucket in our freezer. If cubes remain in the basket, they will stay there waiting for you or they might start melting but they get recycled and will produce more ice. It does not take a lot of water either. It made so much ice - we made about 20 lbs. - then we just turned off the machine. No sense in running it when we had all we needed for now! It does say there are two ice cube sizes. We tried both sizes and there is really no noticeable difference. But who cares! It is quick, efficient, quiet, and durable. We now feel confident giving this as gifts to our 80-year-old mothers who need something simple and easy to use. And for the price? It is a great deal. Bravo Igloo for another terrific product!
