Awesome
Posted .There are so many reasons why I love this thing. I want to buy another as with AirPlay you can utilize multiple units together. This has amazing sound quality along with an easy interface for setup and the docking station is very easy to setup. Love this thing!!!!

Works , but far from perfect
||Posted .We purchased this unit as a "deal of the day" .We were excited about a small wireless speaker to carry around the yard and inside the house from time to time. The sound quality is just OK .Bass is non existent . Wifi set up is quick and easy , but be sure you have good wifi in all areas or this unit wont work well or at all. Yes we can return it , but for 49.00 it is worth keeping. This is definitely not the 200 plus unit it sold for at retail. My wish list for this unit would have been ,Bluetooth along with wifi , and a little more bass. For 49.00 its a great purchase . For $200 , but the bose unit !

Overall I'm am pleased with this item
||Posted .I bought this item on a whim during a deal of the day for $50. Well worth it. U couldn't ever find anything better for that much. I would not pay the MSRP for this how ever. I seen a lot of complaints about loosing connection. This has been an issue occasionally for me as well. But so far only when I bring it outside. But u can plug directly into it without any problems. u would have to spend a lot more then $50 on a docing radio (with a chord) of equal sound quality and loudness. I would say this unit is worth up to $150. If I spent more than that I would have been disappointed with the loss in connection problem. If u can get the $50 deal I would definitely recommend it. Best buy has been doing it a lot lately. I have now picked up 4 of them. 1 as a gift.

Great sound, simple set up
Posted .I fell in love with Airplay after buying a Denon Airplay receiver and was looking for a way to get sound in my kitchen or dining room without having to crank the home theater. I have been considering the iW1 for a while, but was hesitant based on the mixed reviews and potential uptick in speaker options as Airplay takes off (although most upcoming Airplay speakers are priced in the $500 range). My (lovely) wife purchased the iW1 for me for Valentine's Day and I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did! I'm not sure about the negative reviews because this speaker is working great! Set up was super easy - took less than two minutes and the Airplay connection is completely stable with my Netgear router. I was unsure of the sound quality at first because the tone was rather flat. I played around with the EQ settings on my iPod and found that the speaker sounded best with iPod set on Treble enhancer, but then I realized that the remote control has buttons for adjusting the bass and treble and that made a HUGE difference! I turned the EQ off on the iPod and just made the tonal adjustment using the remote. The sound is rich and nicely balanced. The portability allowed by the rechargeable battery is great (can't comment on the battery life yet). Overall a great speaker that I am glad I gave a chance!

Excellent AirPlay option
Posted .I have two of these systems, and I'm impressed with the sound quality. They could be easier to set up; the iHome Connect software is above average but not great. But let's be fair: Apple does not really have AirPlay fully debugged yet, in my opinion, so some of this awkwardness in setting up is Apple's issue, not iHome's. For example, as of this writing, the iPhone 4S still has problems streaming content properly to ANY AirPlay system. iHome makes this clear on their support pages, and it is APPLE's issue to fix (also, as of this writing, Apple seems to be devoting more time to fixing the 4S battery issues than to AirPlay). But overall I have found the iW1's sound quality and ease of use from iTunes on my Mac or from my iPad to be excellent. I just hope iHome figures out how to make firmware upgrades possible from iConnect, rather than the clumsy USB stick method currently required. When compared to the pricing on other AirPlay speakers, this unit is competitive, and the sound processing options make it adjustable to a wide variety of preferences. Personally I like my sound very clean and unprocessed, without a booming bass but with a very flat treble (and no clipping on the highs). I was wary of the DSP system but the results are very pleasing to my ears. I listen to a very wide variety of music, including vintage jazz and pop from the 1920s to the present, plus rock and country. I have not sampled much classical with this system, but true classical audiophiles already know that digital content based on "lossy" algorithms (MP3, AAC, etc.) is something of a compromise anyway. All in all, I would recommend this iHome product for a reasonable price and above average quality. I look forward to Apple improving AirPlay in general, and iHome could polish the iConnect software.

Love the airplay technology!!
Posted .I purchased my iW1 the day they became available on iHomes website. I've been listening to it for a little over a month now. Set-up was very easy using the iHome connect app which was free from the App Store. Had it connected to my network in no time. The sound quality is pretty good for a speaker of this size. I stream my iTunes library from my macbook pro. I've also streamed Pandora and also Sirius using the apps from my iPhone. Overall I've been pretty pleased with it and I'm looking forward to the other 2 models iW2 and iW3 being released, hopefully soon. I've had no issues using the built in rechargeable battery and it seems to hold a charge for a pretty good amount of time. Rock on!!

Great Speaker for the price
||Posted .At first I couldn't get the speaker hooked up to my network. Reading a little further on their website, I had to update the software inside the speaker. Very easy with flash drive and then plug into the speaker. Got it working and works wonderful. Not extreme bass but wasn't expecting anything too crazy. Average sound but again the price was right and just needed something simple for my office.
