Not a bad way to spend the afternoon, but I suggest you be in the mood for it. It's got a bit of a Bladerunner feel to it, but more of a copy of Bladerunner than an original reimagining of what a future society might feel like. The screenwriter's dialogue also leaves a bit to be desired. Most of the characters talk like each other in content and diction and little is done to differentiate characters through dialect, word choice or sentence structure. Characterization must be accomplished through the voice-acting or acting and is successful to greater and lesser degrees throughout the film. This is not a cinematic tour-de-force by any stretch of the imagination, but the blending of computer animated characters and live-action actors is done pretty well. It's an interesting idea and story, but not as deep as I think the author originally intended. When the blending works, it's quite enjoyable, but when it doesn't, it will quickly jar you out of your suspension of disbelief mode that is necessary for most movies.
This review is from Immortal [Blu-ray] [2004]

if you are looking to watch something a bit out there this would be it and the price is good to take a risk. This is an English language, French-produced science fiction film, based upon a comic book La Foire aux immortels "The Carnival of Immortals". The film combines live action footage with computer animation. Blending live actors with computer generated surroundings and interacting with semi photo-realistic CGI "humans". Some of it is a bit out there and this isnt for every one I do recomend that you watch the trailer form this web site to see abit of what the visual is like. When I watched a second time I found it interesting to watch the background city scapes. There were some things I missed about New York the 1st time around. the features were in french but subtitle in english. weel it was a French produced movie

What makes this movie good is how far out there the whole concept is. I think it was based on a comic book or something so it never really makes 100% sense but it's still a fun ride. Worth it for Sci-fi fans.
