Women in STEM careers.
Encouraging girls to discover STEM careers.
The road to gender equality has been marked by many recent positive steps, with plenty of milestones to celebrate. Still, change doesn’t happen everywhere at once, and we still have far to go. When it comes to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), girls and boys still experience significant differences in opportunities, engagement and eventual employment outcomes in these important and rapidly growing fields. At Best Buy, we know that when more women have access to STEM education and careers, we all benefit.
So, what can parents do to get their girls interested in STEM at a young age? To jumpstart your search for fresh ideas, check out our selection of fun, educational STEM toys, including LEGO and magnetic construction sets, coding and robotic kits and more. We offer a ton of cool tech for kids that makes learning fun — and could spark a lifelong passion for science and technology. But our commitment to helping parents steer more girls and young women in tech doesn’t stop with the products we sell. We’re committed to community outreach, mentoring and scholarships to ensure the next generation of tech talent is more equitable.
Best Buy’s support of women in the workplace.
We also strive for equality and inclusion within Best Buy. Not only does this align with our core values as a company, it allows us to attract and retain the best people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
When it comes to reshaping our workforce, we’ve set an ambitious goal to hire more women and people of color in technology roles. We’ve also pledged to interview women for every open senior leadership position. We realize that amplifying diverse voices within our company will lead to bigger ideas and more innovation.
In the places we work, from our stores and warehouses to our corporate offices, we’ve added employee resources and benefits — such as paid leave, tuition assistance and backup child care — that can help people to bring their whole selves to work with them every day. And we’ve been recognized as a top employer for women by multiple sources, including, most importantly, many women who are building successful and rewarding careers at Best Buy.
