The Good: Great visuals and audio, lots of great characters, new customization system is a blast and keeps you coming back, online play works well and superb, fighting system overall is more nuanced and tighter, Multi-Verse missions are fun The Bad: Story is forgettable and drags out too long, some noticeable visual downgrades to stay at 60FPS Netherrealm Studios made a name for themselves in the comic scene with Injustice: Gods Among Us. It was the first 3D fighting game that featured superheroes in a long time and was actually good, some even considered it the best ever made. With the backlash for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Neatherrealm decided to keep the MK universe out and go for its own thing, the results were well received. Injustice 2 in a continuation of the first game in terms of story and content. Gameplay is more refined and feels tighter and punchier, and there's just a lot more content. The story revolves around Brainiac trying to destroy every civilized planet in the universe for his own entertainment, but the Justice League and other DC heroes are fighting it out trying to control their rage and getting into moral dilemmas. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the Injustice storyline. It feels like a straightforward comic book when it could be so much more. Instead of taking the smart ideas from the movies, it sticks true to its form, which is I guess a good thing if that's what you're looking for. After the story was finished I felt lit was long winded and didn't seem to really go anywhere. The characters weren't changed or progressed in any way which is what I would have wanted. Outside of the story the game is fantastic and plays very well. Every character got an upgrade from the last game and the new additions are interesting. Bigger names like Super Girl, Swamp Thing, and Scarecrow are present while many lesser-known heroes such as Captain Cold, Gorilla Grodd, Black Adam, and Cheetah are here. It's a very diverse cast of heroes with every fighting style imaginable. The characters punch and kick with force and the game is fast paced and a lot of fun. The interactive arenas are back with just bigger and better things to do. Whacking your enemies with various items and kicking them off into the background is a lot of fun as well as knocking them out of the arena and into another level. Each character has a special meter and a unique power that range from attack, defense, and passive. One of my favorite features is the new special moves which are epic scripted moves that are unique to each character's powers. The biggest addition is the Eye Vault and the various unlockables to customize each character. There are hundreds of items that are unique to each hero and they unlocked through the story and Multi-Verse missions. Skins, colors, and parts go on every part of the heroes bodies that add RPG stats which is a blast. I didn't feel buying loot boxes was needed as the unlocks came at a steady pace and I found some epic gear fairly frequently. Other than this, there's online play which is always fun and the reason why we play fighters. I didn't experience lag and I got to show off my customized character which is always keeping me going back. Outside of all this not much as changed from the last game, but it does feel like an actual sequel rather than an upgrade.

I go from game to game quite often so it takes me awhile to finish them. Fighter games like this I spend even less time on since I don't have friends that enjoy these types of games, nor do I fancy playing online against strangers. So I haven't had a fighter game in awhile until this. That said, this game is amazing on its reply value. The different mini scenario/side stories with varying skill levels makes it so much fun. Stack on top of that customizing your character through equipment and skins, some skins even changing the voice and personality completely. For example the teenage innocent super girl can be change to the more mature and confident powergirl with different voice, lines and interactions through a new skin option for super girl. Give powergirl is supergirl from alternate universe, but raiden for example can change into someone else entirely. This doesn't particularly alter abilities, but its quite a good twist on things. I never played the first and to be honest I don't feel a need to. I still return to this game every now and thing to get new equipment and play up on new characters. Really do recommend for comic fans.

This is an immensely satisfying game chiefly for its standout bad guy: Superman! While the planet-killing alien Brainiac is ostensibly this DC Universe fighting game’s main antagonist, developer NetherRealm Studios presents Superman as such an unlikeable character in Injustice 2’s outstanding story mode, that beating up the Man of Steel (and his allies) is incredibly gratifying. There’s such an impressive amount of content: characters, modes, daily activities in Injustice 2 that it may seem strange to focus on how much fun it is to hate Superman. But I really dislike Superman in this game. And Injustice 2’s single-player campaign is such a noticeable leap forward in terms of quality (especially since fighting game story modes are kind of NetherRealm’s specialty), that seeing the story through to its end is easily the game’s biggest draw.

Initially my plan was to wait for the Ultimate Edition to come down in cost, but after seeing a sale on the game for $39.99 I decided to swoop it up and man I'm glad I did! If you're a big MKX fan and have a knack for the controls and overall fighting engine of that game then you will definitely love this game. It feels like MKXL in the sense of the controls for each character, however this game definitely separates itself from the latter. The new Multiverse like the Living Towers from MKX keeps you playing for hours. It surpasses MKX in the sense that this is a much more immersive game on single player Multiverse. Leveling up characters, getting new gear, getting shaders....etc. Keeps me playing for hours on in nightly. It should be said that it is worth getting the Ultimate Pack, the extra characters and shaders are a good buy and it gives you access to the next fighter pack as the new characters are released. So it's like a Season Pass in a sense or a gift that keeps on giving....you decide. Overall a great purchase and I highly recommend getting this game!!

So I wonder how Injustice 3 is going to be? I have to say with a disappointed look on my face that, it is really nothing new here. Sure they added some new gimmicks with the character select screen, new interactions/voice overs and new characters to play as BUT........that is a given. Where the game falls apart is everywhere else. The gear system is not balanced and will require numerous updates until it seeks perfection for both casual and pro players alike. Microtransactions in a game like this just leaves a sour taste in your mouth after forking over however much this game costs. Missing characters because of the excuse that they are "deceased" but yet, the company adds 3 characters that are supposed to be exiled from the game. (I will let y'all be the judge of that) Locking characters behind a paywall and adding "premiere skins" with little to no effort (except for the voice acting which is spot on and superb) and a laughable ultimate edition for $100 with nothing new to offer.

I love that we can finally play fighting games that have a fairly well written and deep storyline to go along with all the fighting in the game, to give it some context. Much like how Mortal Kombat XL was an evolution of Mortal Kombat, Injustice 2 was a pretty standard evolution of Injustice 1. The move set is a bit unnatural compared to something like Street Fighter or Tekken (buttons that you'd think would be a punch or a kick likely aren't, and the notion of a "strong" or "weak" hit isn't very intuitive) but the alternative setup allows for more elaborate moves (that would usually be exclusive to only the most skilled players) to be used by anyone. The ability to add and level equipment also adds another layer to the gaming experience that kind of takes it to another level. Definitely one of my favorite modern fighting games.

The Best Fighting Game of the Generation so far...

Injustice 2 is not only the best fighting game so far of the generation but is also the current standard for how to do a proper single player campaign on the fighting game genre. The single player campaign is the best DC "movie" so far with incredible acting, voice over and a great story! Also, the Multiverse mode is an endless campaign full of replay ability that allows you to keep getting experience, items and weapons to customize your hero and make it your own. These items has stats to make your hero stronger (like a role playing game) but are only cosmetic in the multiplayer modes to make it fair and square. Even if you aren't in love with the DC super heroes universe like me (can't stand Superman >.<), there's so much quality content and polish all around that you'll be playing with a smile on your face the whole time. GREAT GAME!

Although the mechanics are great, the story is unique while incorporating all the characters, and the controllers are fun to learn. Injustice 2 Would be great if it found a way to include the characters powers in to the gameplay. For example, Superman & Girl have the ability to fly, this shouldn't be an automatic move where you hit a few keys and a fight combo sequence occurs. You should be able to take advantage of each characters unique abilitys and attributes. I feel I have played the same game with different character skins and a few new combos. Also special moves shouldn't be the same "Press RB & LB buttons at the same time". Each character should be able to be mastered by having their own unique finishing moves. Other wise the game is fun but has limited replay value.
