This fridge-freezer has wifi/ app/ notifications
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I couldn't find anywhere other than the reviews saying that this freezer has wi-fi, including the instructions and the salesman. I did find some older instructions (2016) with the same part number where you held lock/ then lock & -/ then + until the display showed AP which I tried several times. Mine never showed "AP" on the display but after trying that I found Insignia-xxxxx (SSID) in my wifi on my phone then connect, then connected thru the insignia connect app. Not sure if it the wifi was already active or you have to go thru those steps. Everything went straight thru... I can change the temp with the app, and by default it contains push notifications with the app. I then added the skill it to my alexa and homekit and also found the "bestbuy developer" webpage. It appears that all of the insignia devices have a wide open API. I'm not sure why they removed the WIFI aspect out of the instructions / advertising of this freezer/ fridge. I'm guessing due to the negative reviews of people not able to figure out how to connect the wi-fi due to the several steps. I also have had no issues with this freezer switching modes from freezer/fridge.

Right tool for the job
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased as a fermenter for home brewing beer. I can easily fit up to 4 carboys at once and keep a very steady temperature. This is my second one, I converted the first into a kegerator which can hold up to 6 corny kegs along with CO2 bottle.

Great Freezer
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well laid out, making the most of the room for filling. Very bright light. Not noisy as some complained. Wish the temp constantly showed but there is an alarm if temp falls. Moves a little when opening on our linoleum floor, especially if you have to open soon again for something else. Gets that vapor lock which is nice for the seal! Can be converted to a fridge but I will always use for long term storage.

Perfect for our new family room
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had the freezer for about a month and have used it as a fridge for a week before switching it over to freezer mode. Had worked well in both settings. It's the perfect size for our space and has plenty of room for food. This model has been discontinued but I recommend buying the newer version.

A great extra fridge
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a long while my wife had been complaining that she wanted more freezer space. Over time I was able to surreptitiously ask questions to devine if she ever had an extra freezer, what type she would want (upright), what approximate size she would want (something between 10 to 15 cubic feet), and where it should be located (a specific area in our garage). So I measured the prospective space, did my research, and found this unit that had not only a great efficiency rating, but the right amount of storage space and the necessary dimensions to fit where I needed it to go. In addition, it came with a fancy LCD display on the front (which I thought looked cool), a Wi-Fi enabled door left ajar and low-temp warning system, and also fell within my budget. So one day out of the blue, my wife was surprised to find some BB delivery folks pull up to the house and drop off this freezer, something that she had been wanting to have for years. She was tickled pink! Had some problems with the BB delivery folks though (they failed to attach to bottom decorative cover plate to the unit before leaving, failed to leave the attachment screws for said decorative cover plate, and failed to leave the product manual with the unit), but a quick trip to the Internet for the manual, and a quick trip to the hardware store for some screws, quickly remedied those problems. The manual was needed for its instructions on how to setup the Wi-Fi connection for the unit (I never would have figured out how to do it otherwise). Aside from the delivery problems, this has been a great little freezer for the misses so far. It has pleanty of capacity for her, and will likely service us well for years to come. If it breaks, or the door is left open, I'll get an automatic warning to the Insignia Connect app on my phone, which is a fantastic feature for a garage freezer where problems like that might otherwise go undiscovered for a LONG time. Every once in a while I like being able to check the LCD display on the front of the unit, or the Insignia App to verify that the unit is working as expected. Overall very pleased so far, and would purchase this unit again in a heartbeat.

Q: QuestionI would like to know if this freezer is quiet? My Kenmore freezer, model 22442, sounds like a room air conditioner. Every other freezer or refrigerator I've owned has had a barely audible noise level. How do you rate the noise level of this freezer?
Asked by methinks.
- A:Answer Had this freezer for about a month, and keep it in the basement. Noise level is quiet like a low hum when it comes on.

Q: QuestionDoes this need to be connected to a water line for ice if I'm only using it as a secondary freezer?

Q: QuestionWhat is the temp range of this model?
Asked by Rickorta0409.
- A:Answer Per the manual, the default temperature for freezer mode is 0° F (-18° C) and swings +/- 10° F (+/- 6° C) and for refrigerator mode is 35° F to 46° F (2° C to 8° C). I've only had this for 2 weeks, but when I spot check the freezer it's between -7° F and 9° F. I guess the swing means it does not have to start and stop as often. For comparison it only runs about 25% of the time that my old unit ran, so I expect quite an energy savings (on top of the recent sale price, my utility Energy Star rebate, and selling my old unit to my utility). If you want to see the manual, go to www.insigniaproducts.com and search "NS-UZ14XWH7" under Support/Service.

Q: QuestionWhere can I buy an extra shelf for this unit?
Asked by LemurTech.
- A:Answer Hi, I have NOT bought a shelf for this freezer, but our Grandkids broke a glass shelf in our Samsung refrigerator, and I searched all over. I found it at www.appliancepartspros.com They carry almost every part for appliances. The price was fair and we got the exact shelf that looked and fit like original equipment. The price wasn't dirt cheap but I paid a lot less than I thought I might have to pay for the perfect part and many times cheaper than having a repairman come out. They ship the part to you. If the part is in stock, you get it in days. The part I ordered was out of stock, but I still got it in a few weeks. All you need is the brand name and model number of your appliance. They have on-line part diagrams that you can use to find the part. You can check it out on line with no commitment. It is worth a try. I hope this helps. Frank

Q: QuestionWhat is the overall height of this unit? The description says 61" but is that the overall height? From bottom to the very top part of the unit. Thank you.
Asked by APAT.
- A:Answer I just went to the basement and measured. With the tape measure on the floor to the top of the unit it measures 61" exactly.

Q: QuestionIs there any way to complete disable the wifi? I find it difficult to connect the app, and the open wifi channel just creates radio noise and a security hole in my network.
Asked by LemurTech.
- A:Answer Why won't Best Buy simply post the directions for shutting off this completely unnecessary (and unprotected) wifi? I have called their customer support, and I have downloaded the app with no luck on either count. POST THE DIRECTIONS BEST BUY. Wifi on a freezer is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. "your privacy is important to us" says Best Buy, except when it comes to secure Wifi.
