Damaged but working

Quality4 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5Did the curbside pick-up, they brought it out, the boxed looked great and I was on my way. When I got home and unboxed it, it looked like it was dropped on its side. Being the last one in stock and in need of one I had no choice but to keep it. My fault for not unboxing in the middle of the parking lot where they loaded it I guess. It works for what I needed it for.

Inspect your purchase before you leave the store.

Quality1 out of 5Value2 out of 5Ease of Use2 out of 5Online purchase and curbside pickup was a breeze. The freezer sat in my garage for a week before unboxing and as I slid the box off the the freezer four large dents were revealed in the side. Worse still, it appeared to have been dropped on it's lid as the corner was crumpled. My local Best Buy passed me off to a national "Customer Service" line with hours long hold times. For the record, the packaging was perfect, nothing would have prompted an inspection or suspicion of concealed damage.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Baskets, Capacity, LightingI LOVEEEE this freezer. The baskets are not bulky like other freezer baskets and it’s so spacious. Everything is frozen properly, the light is great to see in the dark. Came with two keys and is perfect to keep The freezer locked so little fingers aren’t opening it to sneak treats. I’m going to buy other Insignia products in the future.

Completely Defective -Where's the Quality Control?
Posted .Features
Quality1 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use1 out of 5I guess they don't test these at the factory in China. I drove 30 miles each way to pick up at Ontario warehouse. Paid $30 in gas. Wasted half my day. Let it sit upright for 24 hours before plugging in. Assumed it worked because blue light came on. Spent hundreds of dollars in frozen goods. Opened freezer and didn't notice any signs of cold. Used infrared thermometer and it was 73 degrees inside the freezer and that was the COLDEST setting. My wife has an event tomorrow and now I have to take off work to drive another 30 miles each way to their warehouse to buy a different model. Plus I'll waste 2 hours loading up and returning to local store and hours more installing the second freezer. The reason I bought this was because I bought the 10.2 cf model and it works great and gets to -10 degrees. I understand we cannot avoid defective items, but when a freezer doesn't work new out of the box, that indicates they don't test them at the factory. This needs to change.

Q: QuestionHow many amps does this chest freezer draw? Trying to size a back up generator. This page states 1.4 amps yet most all other similar sized chest freezers draw more than 5amps.
Asked by Robdog.
- A:Answer I purchased a 'Watt Killer" gauge and tested the chest freezer. With the door open and the interior light on it draws .027amps. With door open and kicking on the compressor the less than 1/2 second start up surge was 3.3 amps. With the door open and running the compressor at steady state it only draws .7 amps. So about half the listed rate of 1.4amps. Overall I am greatly impressed with the efficiency of this unit! My small backup generator delivers 13.3 amps@ 120v in steady state running so I am set for earthquakes and PG&E anticipated blackouts.
