I have a new Sony 55” 4K HD TV. I also have a Sony Blu Ray 4K HD player. I love the TV but found that the sound was a little less than desirable so after looking at several sound bars, Most were too big and bulky or complicated for my needs. So I purchased this one and it was VERY EASY to set up and it easily paired with My Sony electronics. The sound is VERY CLEAR and easy to understand now. We watch tv, stream movies, watch Blu-ray videos and even listen to music. It is MUCH improved with this soundbar than with the factory tv speaker. One suggestion that I WOULD MAKE to buyers is though is that for the BEST & HIGHEST QUALITY of listening pleasure, you will need a DIGITAL OPTICAL CABLE which is NOT included. The company provides cables for GOOD (ACCEPTABLE) Quality but suggests THEMSELVES that for BEST QUALITY RESULTS, to purchase a DIGITAL OPTICAL CABLE. And you can get those for whatever price point you prefer but that’s what I used and everything set up very quickly with that and no problem with mouths not matching up with sound or anything else like some have mentioned. Maybe they didn’t try the other cable. It took me TEN MINUTES from opening the box to using the product. Love it! Mine was $39.99! Don’t wait! What a great deal!!!!

Works well with a small TV

The speakers on our small kitchen TV face backwards. The TV is in a corner so the sound is directed there. This makes audio sound like it is coming from a tin can. Voices and music are horrible. I was looking for a small computer speaker when I discovered the Insignia Mini Soundbar. I did not know a product like this existed and am betting there are few like it on the market. I have the Mini connected to the TV with an optical cable (set TV digital output to PCM). I easily programmed our Charter Spectrum cable remote’s AUX button for the Mini using an Insignia TV code found by Googling “charter remote codes”. I also mapped the remote’s volume keys to AUX with instructions found online. My remote’s on/off button now operates the cable box, TV and Soundbar (in that order). Channel buttons work the cable box while volume up/down operate the Mini just as they should. The Insignia Mini Soundbar makes a GREAT difference in TV sound and I am very pleased. The Mini appears to have a couple of small speakers with no woofer or passive radiator visible however sounds pretty good with TV audio. The small footprint and height of the Mini make it look at home on the TV pedestal. I believe the Mini would not be good with a large TV as the soundstage would be to narrow for the picture. Although it can get pretty loud, it is also best used in a small space as well. I have not used the Bluetooth function of the Mini as we have a Bose Wave system for that task in the kitchen. I can enthusiastically recommend the Insignia Mini Soundbar for use with small TVs having poor audio. The Mini even has threaded inserts on the back so it could be easily mounted above or below a wall mounted TV with simple DIY brackets.

We bought one of these to improve the sound from a Samsung 24" TV we recently acquired for our kitchen. The TV has a great picture and absolutely horrible sound - exactly what you'd expect from a TV with tiny speakers. To make matters worse, it only has an optical audio output, so it wasn't easy to find powered speakers to work with it. Insignia soundbar to the rescue! I found this on sale at Best Buy. At normal price, it's a little too expensive, I think. It has all the inputs you'd expect including an optical in. It was an easy hookup to the TV and vastly improved the sound. After some fiddling, I was even able to program a Comcast remote to control it. It's also just the right size to Velcro to the stand on the TV. So now I have a great picture from the Samsung, great audio from the Insignia and can control them both with a Comast XR2 remote. Pretty cool. Please note - this is NOT an audiophile grade speaker. The built-in EQ settings are strange - leave it on standard for best sound. It won't get loud enough to disturb your neighbors. But, it does greatly improve the sound of a 24" kitchen TV.

We originally purchased an open box that was said to have everything included, but when it arrived, it was missing the power adapter and a cable. Our Best Buy store replaced it with a brand new one (great customer service), which worked great for a short while and then stopped working. Called Insignia, and they said it was probably a manufacturing defect, after we went through all the paces with them. We thought we'd try one more because of the great price, the small size, and the descent sound for an affordable option. Upon plugging the new one in, it seemed to be dead on arrival. But my husband figured out something the Insignia rep did not tell us. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR INSIGNIA TV OWNERS: If you plug up this sound bar and it does not give out any sound (or if it suddenly stops giving off sound), check your "Digital Audio Setting" on the TV. It needs to be set to PCM instead of RAW. Once he figured that out, we have had no problems, and the sound bar is perfect for our bedroom to make it so we can really hear people speaking and have a richer sound.

I live (roughly) an hour and a half away from my Gainesville Best Buy, it's where I started my smart home devices, very FIRST sound bar EVER.. basically ALL MY TECHY stuff, so after purchasing a 32 in. tv, for my bedroom, I gassed up the truck & headed to BEST OF THE BEST BUYS, for a speaker/ sound bar to go with new tv, my budget was $50 & worried about the QUALITY that would get me.. WOW WAS I WRONG!!! What a PUNCH this INSIGNIA small but MIGHTY sound bar puts out!! It's perfect for a bedroom, & could even use for a small living room.. comes with a remote, also 2 different ways to connect, HDMI/optical, w/ option to change it to one or other via remote, sound packs a PINT SIZED PUNCH!! Insignia deserves a 5 star review as well for making a speaker at this price that is quite comparable to higher end speakers, Best Buy as usual deserves a 5 star review for selling a great quality speaker for people on a budget!! Thank you.. I'll be seeing you again soon!!!

I have a older 55" Samsung LED TV on a stand. I had two problems. First, since the built-in TV speakers faced down the sound was muffled and it was often hard to hear and understand dialogue. Second, again since the built-in TV speakers faced down the sound was bouncing off the shared wall behind the TV and it could be heard in the bedroom next door. Now this soundbar did enable me to direct the sound forward effectively making the sound much clearer with added bass compared to the TV's built-in speakers. This sound bar is small and not very loud, but adequate for a small room. I have used both the RCA and digital connection and I found the digital connection sounded better, but the RCA connection is fine. I bought a open-box for a nice discount. For the price I paid it's a good value. I would not rely on this for my main entertainment system but for a second TV in a small room it's fine. I'm taking one star away because the DSP effects on this soundbar are horrible. I just leave it on standard for the best sound. The soundbar came with RCA cables and a 3.5mm adapter. I had to use my own optical cable for a digital connection. I was able to teach my Dish remote to control the volume and power for this soundbar.

Used on DirecTV universal remote. Small, affordable

Purchased to use on a Samsung TV with DirecTV cable box. Initially tried plugging the audio cable into the back of the TV and it didn't work. Then we plugged the audio cable into the DirecTV box and it worked fine (had to switch the samsung TV settings to accept an "external audio") With some patience and persistence, I was able to program it to my DirecTV universal remote model RC66 using code 11564 (after trying several codes and looking up the codes on the DirecTV website). Also had to use a follow-up code 993 by following the instructions shown on the review photo. Once that was done, everything worked! Also we tested that the Bluetooth worked well from an iPhone. We bought this as a reduced price Open Box / inspected and everything was included. The footprint of the device is small - small enough to "nest" within the front of the x-shaped base of our Samsung TV. We purchased it because our TV speakers had become somewhat damaged and needed some basic audio function that was slightly better than our TV. It is basic sound quality - slightly nicer than the standard TV speakers, and appropriate quality for the low price.

    Nightmare

Disclaimer: I'm a senior with limited technical knowledge and even less patience. Before I went to BB, I took a picture off the ports on the back of the non-smart Samsung TV that I'm using.. The RCA ports are red (R) and white (L). I asked two different associates if the soundbar would work if I simply plugged the red plug into the red port and the white plug into the white port. Yup and yup, so I felt pretty confident. I did select the RCA option on the soundbar remote, and the external speaker on the TV. Nothing, so I called Samsung and explained that even though I hooked things up correctly I was not getting any sound. Not a Samsung problem, so I called Insignia and explained the whole thing again. Guess what? It's not an Insignia problem. For those of you who have never had to endure this drill, congratulations. The only option left was to try an optical digital cable since the TV does not have Bluetooth. That did work, but the sound is only marginally better than the TV speaker because I could use the equalizer to adjust the TV sound. The only benefit of the soundbar is that the sound is now directed towards me, instead of coming from the back and/or bottom of the TV. I would definitely return this speaker but I would have to pay at least twice as much to get something better and I'm not willing to do that since this is not the main TV I watch.
