GREAT DVD PLAYER, Not so great sound
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendAlright, I do not want to be the first person to write about a product and say bad things so good things first... The DVD player is incredible, upconvert even looked amazing on an older TV. It plays every type of media, and it plays burned DVDs especially well. The great black sleek look matches most TV sets. It even has 2 inputs so you don't have to pull one device out and put another in. The USB connect in the front is cool too. However . . . The sound was terrible. I turned it up to max volume and my TV still dulled the sound out. If you have a small room and you mainly want a great DVD player and sometimes want ok sound than this is the product for you. I returned it less than 24 hours after purchasing it and grabbed a plain old DVD player instead.

what did you expect for the money?
Posted .I would recommend this to a frienddespite the bad reviews, i budged and decided to buy this along with a protection plan, and am fairly pleased with the system. i am an employee, so while i did get this at a discounted price, i still took a hit on it, and my only complaint is that it doesnt read ipods even though it has a usb port. the sound is good for the small speakers. this is a secondary system that i am putting in my bedroom, as that is where i spend most of my time. overall a decent system.

My 2 Cents
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendPrior to purchasing the product I researched most home theater systems and determined that Insigna had the most favorable reviews for the price range. It was simple to set up as long as you paid attention to the color coding on the speaker wires. It works great in my small living room. I connected it to an Insignia LCD TV. They look great together! I added an HDMI cable. The bottom line is for the price ($109.99) and performance I think I;ll keep it. ;-) BobH

Pretty Cool System For The Price
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendSaw this system installed in the work place, it easily filled that 30x30 area with sound. When told of the price I had to have one. Installation was very easy (toughest part was running "video out" cables from back of wall mounted TV to DVD/surround system). Once I memorized what the lower remotes buttons did the rest was simple (small print tough on a guy my age without reading glasses). Once setup and familiarization was completed everything appears to be fine. My wife also purchased a four year warranty. If it last that long I would have gotten more than my moneys' worth.

shoddy product
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendUnless you like to gamble I wouldn't buy this product. I read the other reviews and it sounds like you never know which piece of the system won't be working but likely there will be one. For me, the DVD player didn't work straight out of the box. I already had another DVD player and mainly wanted a sound system so I hooked it up (very easy set-up). It worked fine until one day it just stopped. Nothing I did would get it to work again. I had it less than 2 years. I would definitely recommend spending a few extra dollars and get a system where everything is going to work and it might last a reasonable amount of time considering the money you're spending. While it did work, the sound was okay. I definitely wouldn't say it was great as the center speaker was a little too low. I haven't really had luck with any of the Insignia products and will not buy the Best Buy generic brand again. I'll invest in name brand to get quality.

Good little system for the mobile home
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have only had it for one day, I like it a lot better than the rca sound system I had which was for 4 years, plus I got the warranty so if it has problems it will get fixed. From reading other reveiws things can break no matter if its sony or any other brand. It is good so far for my mobile home. If it does break thats what a warranty is for.
