Perfect size and footprint for retirees’ freezer
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now that we have a backup generator, I can have the freezer I have needed, so I can take advantage of sales. As our little dog is on expensive prescription dog food, I cook my own version, freezing in batches, containers of five days each. Didn’t need one of the huge freezers, (two retirees), and I’m short, so would disappear into a chest freezer, should I need something from the bottom. The footprint is small, not as deep as the usual kitchen refrigerators and freezers, as we wanted. Size perfect fo space available. I added clear bins, and thermometer, as it doesn’t come with one, didn’t want to have to guess if cold enough. Now even hubs can be sent to the freezer to pick out dinner. Normally I don’t review products immediately, to be sure they operate trouble free. But wanted to share how well it suits our needs. And how easily it can be organized. See photo. The door had two dents when we unpacked it. Manager graciously adjusted price a bit, back onto my credit card. Great service, ordered online, easy pick-up an hour later. They loaded it into the truck for us too. The dents don’t bother us, as it is in a climate-controlled garage/studio. One quality star removed for two dents, as some would find that unacceptable, depending on where placed.

Fairly good upright freezer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first I was very impressed with this freezer, but after a week ir so, the freezer started accumulating quite a bit of frost. I know this is a manual defrost model, but I was previously assured that it would be many months before I would need to manually defrost the freezer. This is very disappointing because with the frost building up above the top shelf reduces storage space. On the positive side, all the food inside is solidly frozen, there is a very tight seal, it is extremely quiet, and it takes up very little space.

Perfect size!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've procrastinated about buying a freezer for quite a while, I didn't want a chest freezer bc I prefer the upright style, but the prices are always outrageous. So when this one was on sale I jumped at it! It's the perfect size for a family of 2, I can store precooked meals and meats in it along with extras of my sons favorite frozen goodies. It doesn't take up as much room in our garage as a huge freezer either which I like a lot. Delivery was easy on time and painless, too!!

Damaged
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Glad I got it on sale and did not pay full price. The freezer works, no problem. I took off 2 stars because, when we got the freezer into the basement & unpacked it, it had a large dent on the upper right side, near the back. The box wasn't damaged, nor was the Styrofoam that was on the corner. I believe it was damaged at the factory and shipped to the store in that condition. I could have returned it but did not want to go through the hassle of repacking it & taking it back to the store. It doesn't effect how it works so I decided to just keep it. The manufacturer should have better quality control. I would recommend buying one to a friend, just unpack it in the store & make sure it isn't damaged before you take it home!

This would have been 5-stars if it were frost-free
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great little upright freezer. I would gladly have paid more for it if it had the frost-free feature. I am not looking forward to the time when I will have to defrost it! However, that is the only downside to this freezer, albeit a rather major consideration. I did not have room for anything larger. I am very pleased with this unit. It's easy to find the frozen food in the freezer and it runs quietly. I've had it for about 1 month now, and there is very little frost build-up on the shelves. The trick is to NOT open the door and stand around looking for things. Know where you put the stuff to begin with. I use this freezer solely for the extra room that my GE refrigerator cannot provide. It has a bottom freezer where I keep the every day stuff. If I want to spend time rummaging around in that freezer it's OK because it is a frost-free fridge. As I've already said, a manual defrost unit is less appealing than a frost-free model, but this Insignia fit the space and is quite inexpensive. A great value! I'm happy I bought it!

Q: QuestionAre the shelves far enough apart to fit a half ham/ham portion butt end without having to cut the ham down to fit? Also, there are differing answers to the cord length. Has anyone actually measured the cord?
Asked by Questioner.
- A:Answer To answer as best I can,Yes the Ham Portion should fit fine unless it is huge. For a example I can sit l 16oz Water bottles inside my shelves with room to spare at the top .And the very bottom does have 1 removable shelf, remove it and a Turkey should fit fine .As for the cord I got mine 2 weeks ago, my cord is over 5 feet long ( 5.4 if I remember right) , it easily reached the outlet I wished to use. As I say I am only 2 weeks in but I adore it, perfect for 2 of us, The seals on the door are so great when you close the door you can stand there and listen to it suck down and seal, serious. I wish it had a indicator light that it is running but can't beat the price size is nice if a bit short for a tall girl like me but I knew that. It will need to be defrosted every so often but a few good boxes to put food into and a bit of time and good to go, Mine went from room temp of 85 to frozen water bottles in just a few hours on med... . Hope this has helped you or someone, Right now we love it enough we are about to buy my short ( 5.1) Sister in Law one since her little chest type she had to bend into and dig went out.

Q: QuestionCan an 8lb. bag of ice fit in this freezer? And, if so, 1 or 2 bags on a shelf?
Asked by Suzie.
- A:Answer I'm not sure how big a bag of ice is so measured the shelves. Top three are 15"W x 14"D x 9"H. Hope that helps.

Q: QuestionWhat is the package dimensions? Can I carry it in my suv?
Asked by Shah.
- A:Answer The box is about 5ft tall and 2.5-3ft wide/deep. Should fit in SUV. Freezer is shipped upright...so if you lay down in vehicle it must rest for a couple hours before plugging in.

Q: QuestionHow much clearance room should I plan for on the sides? Is a 25" wide space sufficient, or should I allow more like 3" on each side? Also, I've read that the cord is 2 ft long or 4 ft long. How long is the cord? Is it safe to plug into a power strip?
Asked by PatM.
- A:Answer Answering my own question, as my freezer arrived today. It calls for 3.9" clearance on each side and the back. The cord is 5.4 ft long and should not be plugged into a power strip. They also state not to share the power outlet with anything else.
