Keeping my 1978 Zenith R472 in the game!
||Posted .For years without need for an external antenna I’ve been running a 1978 Zenith R472 solid state clock radio… the circle of sound is just just soooo good and I have not, WILL NOT give up on my analog audio media formats. When I moved in with my fiancée to her arguably better built apartment in a town with arguably terrible FM signal transmission I had no choice but to get a powered high gain antenna for the Zenith. I could only get remotely clear signals on 3-4 stations that I didn’t like in the apartment! No more. This products works as advertised! Now I can listen to my favorite stations blasting through the crystal clear classic Zenith Circle of Sound just like before. Easy to set up and works wonderfully.

Greatly Improved FM Reception
||Posted .Our stereo predates the internet by a couple decades. That's ok. I prefer expansive analog recordings to compressed digital media. But I really need good FM reception to listen to anything recorded since I quit buying records 30 years ago. Streaming digital media just isn't a viable option. We recently moved. At the new house, I couldn't pull in a single AM or FM signal clear enough to listen to without wincing. The long wire dipole antenna that worked fine everywhere else was worthless. The reception was so bad, I suspected the movers had damaged the tuner. I bought this antenna with low expectations. Pleasant surprise-- crystal clear reception of all local FM stations was immediately restored. The signal is clear whether the antenna amplifier is plugged in or not, although the amplifier in does boost the signal strength of weaker stations with no appreciable adverse effects. I didn't even bother with trying to find the best antenna placement. I just attached the leads to the receiver and tossed it inside the cabinet that houses the receiver. It didn't do much to improve AM reception and it didn't pull in distant FM stations. But it really cleaned up local FM broadcasts. That's all I needed and far more than I expected. I'd recommend this without hesitation to a friend living in an urban/ suburban area.

It works!
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. It works! I could not get any radio stations and with this positioned in a closet in middle of my house I can now get stations on both AM and FM. I would like to try it in the attic or near a window to see if I get more stations. Now I get the stations I want.

Q: QuestionI live in the mountains. Will this pick up a signal here. If not is there an antenna that would work?
Asked by feltonguy.
- A:Answer I live in the mountains and tried this unit, all it did for me is boost static. My tuner is a 25 plus year old Pioneer with 250 watt output, one of the first Pioneers with Dolby Digital.

Q: QuestionHow far can this get radio stations. Can it get an FM signal from 70 miles away?
Asked by Joe.
- A:Answer I live on the south side of Norman and my Bose radio still wont pick up the OKC stations on the N side of OKC. So, maybe 25 miles? It did improve reception on the closer stations.

Q: QuestionDoesn’t seem to work on my Yamaha receiver ... is the RED light in the front indicate anything?
Asked by DMontreuil.
- A:Answer I tried one on my old Pioneer receiver and it only boosts the sound and static. I went back to the old antenna.

Q: QuestionWhere does this have to be located. Does it have to be near the ceiling. Will it work located on the shelf near the radio.
Asked by Kaycee.
- A:Answer Shelf is fine. Just needs to reach system.

Q: QuestionDoes this antenna work with a Bose radio?
Asked by CleaningLady.
- A:Answer The 75 ohm connection doesn’t fit with the Bose sound wave connection. The connection is too big. The flange is too big. Looking for an adapter now.

Q: QuestionWhat is the red light on the front for? I can’t find it in the quick start guide.
Asked by Barry.
- A:Answer Just means it’s on

Q: QuestionWill this work as a replacement for an auto antenna, and if so, any special requirements or hardware needed?
Asked by Flip.
- A:Answer This requires a coaxial cable port and is powered which means you need a 12-volt power inverter to AC (they are available and plug into your cigarette lighter or similar 12-volt DC power port). Some new cars are equipped with these already built in- I know the newer Ford F-150 is equipped this way. As to- if it would work- I don't know. The antenna to radio connection might be a problem.

Q: QuestionIs this a high frequency antenna?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer AM/FM bands.
