DisplayPort to HDMI. Have an LG 34" wide 21:9 ratio monitor that needs a HDMI connection. This monitor needs to be setup on photo mode. If placed on read mode, the light hurts coming off the monitor. I thought I needed game mode for CAD, for SolidWorks, this type of PC monitor is good for the computer, you can put on a TV screen size as well. Both PC monitor and the PC works better together at max of 34 inch. And then there's VR goggles that looks like the size of a movie theater or 70 inch screen even. If you want 5 of friends on movie mode or gaming, VR goggles is getting cheaper but the virtual computer internet feature, the internet has to be fast to be live intereaction with other people in the world to play games. Maybe a server will be best for 5 graphics card and not sure how many CPUs but is more dedicated GPUs that's needed. This displayport to HDMI, today's VR just needs HDMI to see what the VR user sees. Is fast enough to see what they are looking at. AR, isn't worrisome, is just at less intensity as of a VR game. Cost less and is more for I of making stuff, then worrying of film per second gaming. The horizontal view is only 90 degrees to seeing the products in my living room. Works. Happy there. Thanks.

The Insignia DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor didn't work when I plugged it into my computer and I considered returning it for a refund. I decided to see why it wasn't working and found that the male end of the adaptor has a housing that was too thick to fit into my DisplayPort so it wasn't getting fully seated into the plug because the adaptor was hitting the metal-work around the receiving plug. I had to trim the outer housing of the male plug of the adaptor to allow it to fit into my DisplayPort on my computer, at the risk of voiding my warranty. The other option was to trim the metal surrounding my DisplayPort plug and that would have been a harder and riskier job. After trimming the adaptor plug the adaptor worked as it should. But you shouldn't have to trim anything if it is made properly in the first place.

      Lousy

I purchased this adapter for my oculus rift & GTX 1070. Worked fine initially but noticed some problems with connectivity from the rift, Oculus seemed to always think the HDMI was unplugged unless I manually unplugged it and plugged it back in. I thought it was possibly a problem with Oculus or possibly my video card. Over the coming months the problem degraded to the point where my Oculus would not work at all. I came to the point where I had to make a decision to troubleshoot the problem and as usual...you start with the cheapest solution (which for me was a new Displayport adapter) I went to local store and picked up a different brand which comes with a lifetime warranty for $10 cheaper and I have had NO problems since. Like most insignia products this is both inferior in quality and over priced with only a 1 year warranty that you must prove with a receipt. Never again.

Not too much to say about this product, other than it works great. My computer tower came with 4 display ports and one HDMI. I have 2 monitors that are only HDMI... and there lies the problem. Alas! problem solved. This adapter plugs right into a display port, then an HDMI is then connected to the adapter and the screen. Screen now displays what it needs to. I would recommend this product to anyone that needs it, or they wont be able to view what's on the computer screen. Solid product, solid build, solid no wiggle connection.

DisplayPort cables are not bi-directional. For example, I presume this adapter works fine when plugged into a DisplayPort output jack on a laptop or PC. However, there is one case where it is not supported - if this item is plugged into the DisplayPort input on a monitor - it won't work - not because the unit is defective, but because the DisplayPort system does not support conversion from that direction. (I was trying to connect an HDMI output jack to DisplayPort input on a monitor, and that is not supported.)

I purchased this adapter to try to revive an old monitor I had lying around and take advantage of it's HDMI capabilities but this adapter does not have 2 way communication capabilities so unfortunately it did not work for my project. Worse off, I purchased this adapter at the beginning of my build and didn't realize it wouldn't work until it was nearly complete. I returned to Best Buy to return the item and purchase the components I needed but it had been 15 days and apparently Best Buy won't honor returns past 14 days, so I threw it away next to the customer service register and took my business elsewhere. I won't shop at best buy again, period.

Bought it to set a dual display on my desktop. I'm running an ASUS Maximus IX Hero. Was already using the HDMI out for my main monitor. Grabbed this instead of an expensive HDMI splitter as neither monitor has a display port. First one I bought sent no signal.. Scared me. Almost thought I was going to have to RMA a motherboard.. Returned, very easily, for a replacement product. New one worked as soon as I plugged it in. Now I have a 28" main monitor and a 32" secondary, both of which are merely old tvs I kept after a whole home 4K upgrade. Has worked great for weeks now. Will update review if necessary.

Honestly, there's not much that can be said about a DP-to-HDMI adapter. it's designed to allow you to connect a monitor that doesn't have DP inputs, to a computer that doesn't have HDMI outputs...it's that simple. There's nothing fancy, or complicated, about it. If you have a computer needing to be connected to a monitor, and the computer has a full-size DP output port, but no HDMI port...and the monitor has an HDMI input, but no full-size DP input...then you NEED this. It's (relatively) inexpensive, it does what it's supposed to do, and it does it without fail.
